The Secret by Christie Ridgway

A single dad...a marriage of convenience...and a secret! The Secret by Christie Ridgway is NOW LIVE!

About the Book

Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. She helps keep businessman Ethan Archer’s household running without a hitch and enjoys every minute she has with his six-year-old son, Wells. But as time passes, the situation feels alarmingly intimate and when her heart starts beating faster each time Ethan steps through the door, Charlie must exert rigid control over her feelings.

With her secret, falling in love would be all kinds of bad…

Ethan Archer values the woman who keeps his life in order and cares so much for his motherless boy. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience.

What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is my first time reading anything in this series. It is book #6 in the Billionaire's Beach Series and #3 in the series about three female butlers but having read none of the other books I did not feel lost at all, so this story easily can stand alone.

Charlie/Charlotte is the main character in this story. She has been a butler to our hero Ethan, and his son Wells. Wells is the adopted son of Ethan and his wife who passed away about 4 years before. Charlie has worked for Ethan about 11 months at the start of this book.

Ethan travels alot for work so Charlie is sorta a butler/nanny and PA for Ethan and she helps care for Wells. That means she is very involved at Wells school. Ethan at the start of this book is still loving, missing and mourning his wife even though its been awhile.

However his boss suggests he start dating and that is what starts to open his eyes up to Charlie as a woman and prospective marriage candidate. But Charlie has a BIG secret. One that needs to be confronted before she can move into any kind of romantic entanglement with Ethan.

Her secret to be honest I guessed by chapter 2. But this book is not so much about her secret but rather about letting the past go and moving on. Forgiving yourself and moving forward with your life. It is about realising that you can have a love of your life but also starting a new life with a new partner and opening your heart. Both Charlie and Ethan have to learn how to open their hearts and love and trust and its not always as easy you would think.

This book was beyond romantic. It was sweet and serious and really beautiful. Charlie was a wonderful heroine and Ethan was a very honest and caring character. Wells is a sweetheart and I loved getting to know the Archer family.
