Addicted2Romance Review:

- ARC received by Rock Star Lit for an honest review -

When I started this book I got quite a shock and the shocks kept coming. I know its a mini spoiler and I don't like to leave those BUT I feel it needs to be done in relation to this book and it really starts out this book. The heroine in the book is married, she is pregnant and her husband is the heroes (Lucas) brother. Thats why she is forbidden. First of all for those who are sensitive to this subject be warned she has a miscarriage in her 8th month. This all happens in the prologue.

Then the book picks up 9 months later and the husband is now dead. He leaves Maxie without anything. No job, no home and no money or life insurance. That's how Maxie and our hero, Lucas end up living together.

Lucas and Maxie have always loved each other but when they were younger, Lucas was the unconfident nerd and so he never showed her even though they were best friends. His older brother, Keith swooped in and married her when he told her that Lucas was engaged to someone else.

To be honest I hate this kind of plotline. I hate brother/sister forbidden type romances. For a brother to knowingly steal the girl he knows his brother loves well its not my favorite storyline. What I do like is that the Keith/Maxie part of the story ends fairly fast so you don't have to watch Lucas suffer and read about it. That said the author does a really good job with the story and characters and bringing them together in this forbidden billionaire type of storyline. You see that Maxie stayed with Keith for so long to protect Lucas in her love for him.

Keith really was a terrible man. The only people that still loved Keith during this book was his parents and I hated how they treat Lucas in this book. They treat Maxie really well and so it was very hard watching how horrible they were to their remaining child. Keith really is a character that keeps on giving even in death and not positively.

This story also includes a bad man after Maxie and Lucas for some info Keith hid before he died. This gave this story more depth and I really liked this dramatic aspect to the story I also liked how in protecting Maxie,  Lucas hires Tyler Dare's company to protect her and his family.

I also really liked seeing Julian again and Kendall and how Julian seems to have deep feelings for her.  In the end I really enjoyed the story and the author made it her own even using the brother is evil trope and forbidden love storyline.
