Like most of her characters, Tess Thompson hails from a small town and will always feel like a small town girl, despite the fact she’s lived in Seattle for over twenty-five years. She loves music and dancing, books and bubble baths, cooking and wine, movies and snuggling. She cries at sappy commercials and thinks kissing in the rain should be done whenever possible. Although she tries to act like a lady, there may or may not have been a few times in the last several years when she’s gotten slightly carried away watching the Seattle Seahawks play, but that could also just be a nasty rumor.

She currently lives in a suburb of Seattle, Washington with her brand new husband, the hero of her own love story, and their Brady Bunch clan of two sons, two daughters and five cats, all of whom keep her too busy, often confused, but always amazed. This is part of a series, Book 5 I believe and its more like each book is an episode featuring a new couple but each book  features all the couples with their trials and successes and so they don't really stand alone. This book stars Mary, she is the daughter of the man who ends up marrying Flo, Flo who helped raise Lance and Brody, and Lance is in business with Mary and is also in love with her.

Mary was cheated on by her husband while she was pregnant, then her mother and baby died and then Flo found her dad and so just about everyone has left her. She is one hot mess and she knows it. She also has feelings for Lance but she doesn't trust him as he had an affair with a married woman as well.

On New Years eve she makes some really bad decisions and they make her feel very tainted. Lance is  there for her but she doesn't feel worthy of this great guy. This story is about her coming to love herself and letting other people love her.

At times I did not love Mary, I absolutely loved Lance but I loved watching her change and grow and let people in. In this book we also see Mel again and see what she has planned for Kyle and Violet and I loved how Mary is the person who sees Mel for the crazy she is.
