I have never read this author before but this was an awesome story and I loved the authors voice and storytelling. Its not a long story and is more novella sized but its a really fun romance and is a second chance at romance with a military hero.
Jorga was in high school when she met Jocko and he loved to flirt with her. On the day he enlisted in the military he gave her a scorching kiss. For years she believed it was a way to goad her and he thought it was to show her how he felt.
Six years later he comes back to town and is retired from the military and he is ready to settle down and is back for Jorga. But Jorga thinks he hates her and so he has to prove to her that he really is into her and only her.
I loved this story. Its very insta lust/love and Jocko is very alpha and I loved how much he loved Jorja. I only had two issues with this book.
1. Jorga is a virgin. She waits for 6 years because of a kiss that she believed was given to her as a form of punishment and that was very wrong. If it was romantic and she believed it was given of love it would be a different story but she doesn't so I didn't understand why she waited.
2. It never says if Jocko is a virgin too or at least didn't have casual sex for those 6 years. It was an important fact to leave out since he loved Jorja for all those years and never used to kiss to bully her but rather to show her how he felt. If he was always planning on going back for her and his heart was engaged then he should have been the one waiting and the book never states if he waited or he didn't. It was one thing I really wanted to know and I felt let down that it never gives the reader that answer.
