This is Ivan and Evelyn's story, and it was beyond fantastic. I seriously think it's the best in the series and the best thing this author has ever written, and I think it should win her an award. It's also probably one of the best books I have ever read. It is that fantastic. But this story is not always easy, both Ivan and Evelyn are extremely complicated characters with VERY complicated families, but they both are really good people, and they are just magic together.
Ivan is the new, hot, Russian, swim team guy in school. Evelyn is a twin to her sister Delilah who had a huge crush on Ivan at first. When he was not interested, she found someone else. But Evelyn is loyal to Delilah and liking the guy who turned her twin sister down feels like a betrayal. So, in her mind anything more than friendship would betray the person who she loves like no one else. So, this is very much a forbidden type of romance story.
Evelyn is on the spectrum. I would say she is extremely high functioning. She has her idiosyncrasies, but she is also able to work with them in her mind with proper planning and preparing. She does things in this book that I am not sure I would do, so someone on the spectrum, I am just not sure they would take the risks she does. But the fact that she does make her a badass in my opinion and was part of why I loved her so much.
Ivan falls hard for Evelyn pretty fast and he is 100% into her. He doesn't even see anyone else. The whole twin thing with Delilah must have been very hard on him. It also means he has a lot of work to do in relation to convincing Evelyn to give him any kind of shot from teammate on the swim team to friendship to even going on a date with him. I loved that Evie was a tough cookie for him to crack but also one he never ever gave up on.
And OMG I loved the ending of the book so much. I loved catching a glimpse at their future and how it wasn't a super easy ending but I also loved how their friends are there for them. I am going to miss this series so much.
