This is Nathan and Skylar's story and its very, very complicated. It also has a bunch of tropes. I also felt like it was a drama and had suspense as I closed in on the end of the book. I really liked that part of the story where things came up and out that I was not expecting though there were a few clues along the way.
Lets talk about the tropes. Its an age gap but I am not 100% sure of the ages. Based on other characters ages, I think Nathan is in his early 40's, 42 maybe. Skylar is supposed to be 15 years younger so I am going with 27. She had a huge crush and kissed Nathan on her 18th birthday, so this story takes place about 9 years later. I really want authors to give the characters ages in books and not make me do the whole guessing game. Especially when the age gap is a part of the age gap trope.
Skylar's beloved older brother is a military guy and he is best friends with Nathan. Ben asked Nathan to help him take care of Skyler. So when he finds her bakery in trouble he wants to help. But its also to help him because he estranged grandfather has promised him a CEO job if he gets hitched. So thats where the fake marriage or unwanted wife aspect of this story comes in.
These two have this really huge connection. They are like opposite magnets, they need to be together and are drawn to each other no matter what and that is what happens when they marry. Nathan cannot resist his wife and she cannot resist him either. The sex scenes are hot and very plentiful.
This story had REVENGE and family and a whole girl group that support Sky through everything no matter what. My favorite character next to Sky was Zoe. And the end of the book has some yummy recipes I need to try.
