Addicted 2 Romance Review:

I am a new fan of this author and when I saw that Rae of Sunshine was a Kindle Unlimited book a few weeks ago I decided to read it. I totally loved that first book and I highly suggest you read it before this story. This book supposedly can stand alone but all the things that happen in this book are more a continuation of that book and pick up right after that book ends.

Rae of Sunshine is about Rae, a new college student with a tragic past and Cade, a star footballer. Rae ends up as roomates with Thea, who is Cades sister. Cade and Thea also share a tragic past. Cade has two best friends, one is Xander, who wasn't just a best friend but a neighbor for many years as well. Xander in Rae of Sunshine are attracted but Cade says no way so they are just good friends throughout that book. In this book Thea and Rae are freshman while Cade and Xander are seniors. Both don't plan to play football but rather join Xander's fathers architecture firm after college. Rae of Sunshine ends with Rae and Cade in love and living together with Xander and Thea. Both are working as architects and Rae and Thea will continue school while there men get jobs. Rae of Sunshine has two issues, one is related to Rae and I am not spoiling but the other is domestic abuse and that theme is continued in this book as well, so its important to mention.

I really enjoyed When Stars Collide. This story opens in Vegas where Xander, Thea, and Cade are for an architecture conference. Thea is working this summer as Xanders assistant in the firm so she is attending as well. On the last night her and Xander get hitched and drunk. Xander has always loved her and so he really wants the marriage. Thea has always loved Xander and had a major crush but not been in love with him. So the next morning she is ready to annul it. But Xander asks for a chance, to see if it can work before they get a divorce.

The book was very enjoyable and I really enjoyed seeing everyone and continuing the story. Thea and Xander have never even dated so I loved watching them date and fall in love with the other. I did miss one aspect that Rae of Sunshine has and that was the college scene. This is a Young Adult book but I wanted more of a college theme and this was rather more college graduates scenes.

Xander has a big secret he is hiding from everyone and I loved his big secret and I loved Thea's reaction. In this book at certain points Cade comes off as a big jerk but if you read the first book its understandable to some degree. The last third of the book deals with the domestic abuse and it really made this an exciting story.

I really loved this story which is told in dual points of view and I think its a great conclusion to events that happened in Rae of Sunshine.

***Unedited and subject to change. ****

Holy mother of all hangovers.

I’d succumbed to the lure of Vegas and gotten completely wasted. Granted, that’s what everyone did in Las Vegas but I like to think I usually have more sense than the social norm.
I rub my eyes and blink them open. The hotel room comes into formation around me. The walls are a warm golden color and the flat screen on the wall plays some home improvement show. I can see the bathroom from the bed, the tiled walls and large soaking tub.
I roll over onto my side, hoping I can sleep off the hangover, and reel back.
“Oh my God,” I cry, flailing in bed.
My legs kick the sleeping guy beside me.
Not just any sleeping guy.
Oh no.
Xander Kincaid, my brother’s best friend, lays in the bed beside me.
His dark hair tumbles over his forehead and his cheeks are covered with several days worth of scruff. His chest is bare and…holy shit. He’s naked.
I look down.
Oh God, I’m naked too.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, reaching his left hand out to pull me closer to him. That’s when I see it.
“Is that a wedding band?” I scream shrilly.
His eyes narrow. “You don’t fucking remember?”
I shake my head and look at my own hand. A thin silver band rests on my finger. “What did we do?
He sits up in bed and I try to ignore how adorably rumpled he looks with his hair sticking up.
Everything begins flooding back to me in quick bursts.
Drinks.
Kissing.
Laughter.
Confessions of love and desire.
A wedding chapel.
Vows.
Rings.
A contract.
“We’re married,” I whisper. “Holy shit.” It’s all I’ve ever wanted—to be with Xander, but not like this. Never like this. “My brother is going to kill us.”

Called Up: A Calling It Novel by Jennifer Doyle - Tasty Virtual Book Tour Stop

Description

Jen Doyle delivers a home run of heart, heat and plenty of laughter in this contemporary romance, perfect for fans of Jill Shalvis's Pacific Heat series

There's one thing Max "Deke" Deacon can always count on besides his old high school teammates: Angelica "Fitz" Hawkins. But no matter how much Deke might secretly fantasize otherwise, a relationship with his best friend's sister is off limits. Until one unexpectedly smoldering encounter has Deke and Fitz giving in to the feelings they've both been fighting for far too long.

Fitz knows for a fact that it is not better to have loved and lost. After losing her parents, she'd rather lock up her heart and throw away the key than endure that kind of pain again. If that means giving up any hope of a lasting relationship, then so be it.

But with Deke, Fitz feels dangerously close to falling in love. She can't risk another broken heart—especially if it means losing one of her best friends for good. Now it's up to Deke to convince her that the safest place she could ever be is right here with him.

Addicted2Romance Review:

(ARC received from the author/Netgallery/Tasty Book Reviews for an honest opinion)

I read the first book in the series and I loved it. This is the second book and completely stands alone though I suggest reading book 1 "Calling It" before so you get to know Nate and Dorie as they are pretty significant in this story as well.

This book is about Fitz/Angelica who is Nate's half sister and a close friend to Dorie. As the book starts she is living with Deke/Max's sister Lola who is a widow with triplets. She is helping her out after her military husband died. She also works for a foundation that she started with her brother and his friends.

Deke is Fitz's best friend. But lately he has started to give her funny looks and this story is about two besties falling in love. This story is pretty terrific though book 1 is my favorite. I did not like that Fitz and Deke's relationship was mostly done in secret. I hate that plot device in books and even though it was enjoyable here. I wouldrather have seen the relationship be ut in the open.

The reason its secret is more because Fitz doesn't believe in love. Which I found very understandable. There were two events in Fitz' life that changed her. One was her father and mother died in a tornado. She came to town as an orphan and then discovered that her father's 1st wife and his family lived there too. The first wife adopted her and brought her into her family.

The second event was this evile girl/woman Peggy as a 16 year old girl lured Fitz into a shed and had three guys attack her. Nate rescued her but still it was horrible. The thing is Peggy and Deke have a sexual relationship for 15 years, off and on and that really grossed me out. Now Deke didn't know what she did but she actually had dated his best friend (Nate) so it was gross on her being his ex. But aside from that I can't believe he didn't know Fitz hated her and that she was mean to her.  To keep having sex with her was just so gross even if he didn't know about the indicent in question he had to know she was mean to her and to keep having sex with her knowing she was so mean to his best friend, well it really took away from me liking his character.

So during the book Fitz tries to keep a distance from Deke I totally got that. I am not sure why she stayed friends with him at all while he continued to have sexwith Peggy. I would have distanced myself from him years ago. Even he had no clue about the specific shed incident, he did know they hated each other and he having sex with her felt like the thing you don't do to your best friend.

Anyways I really enjoyed the book otherwise. Peggy is a very small part of the book thank goodness. I really loved seeing Nate and Dorie and how happy they were. I also really loved Fitz. She is a strong female character and I really loved who she was.

Excerpt

“Hey, Dorie,” she heard from above her. “Do you know where Fitz wants these bottles of water?”
Speak of the devil. Fitz brought her head up a little too suddenly, banging it on the underside of the table. “Ouch!” Her hand going to the back of her head, she came up frowning, and...
Oh, God, was he this gorgeous before? Had he always smelled amazing?
Doing everything she could to keep herself immune from his physical charms, she spun on her heel. “Back here.”
Very specifically not looking in Deke’s direction so that she didn’t give anything away, she forced herself to act exactly as she always did around him. Except she suddenly couldn’t quite remember how that was. Did she flirt with him? Did she flat-out ignore him? Did she generally just go around in a state of low-level irritation? Because right now she had absolutely no clue.
She had even less of a clue as she bent down to open up the lid to the cooler and he crouched down next to her, his head so close all he’d need to do was turn it slightly to the left and his mouth would be on her breast.
And was that…?
Oh, hell, no, her nipples had not just hardened. She slapped her arms over her chest.
Because they had. And Deke, with his superhero sex god extra sensory perception, had definitely noticed. He at least had the decency to look down at the ground as he grinned.
“It’s the cold,” Fitz snapped. “From the cooler.”
Pushing the bottles down into the ice, Deke just answered, “You’d be amazed at all the bits and pieces I can warm up with my tongue.”

Addicted2Romance Review:

ARC Received by RockStar Lit for an honest review.

I am a new fan of this author and have only read one of the books in the series.

This book easily stands alone though it does feature other characters from other stories. It really reminded me a lot of Bella Andre’s series about The Sullivans.

This story is about Boone, a playboy rockstar and newly movie star. His co-star is Trish Ryder, who is an actress and her brothers are featured in the other books in the series. Boone and Trish are trying to film a movie but Boone is struggling because the movies subject is very painful. The director decides to ship them off together to their next location and give them ten days to get Boone to rehearse and help him get into the part. This is where the two fall hard for each other and learn who the other one is. Boone looks like the stereotypical rockstar but he so isnt and he is 100% perfect for Trisha.

This story was pure romance at its best and I really loved it.

Jonquils for Jax, The Rousseaus #1 By Katy Regnery - AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Description:
Did you fall in love with The English Brothers?
Were you hot for the Winslows?

Katy Regnery's New York Times bestselling Blueberry Lane series continues with The Rousseau siblings in Summer 2016!

Jacqueline "Jax" Rousseau is vivacious, rich, smart and beautiful…but that doesn't mean she's lucky in love: she's dated doctors, lawyers, actors and politicians who've all managed to end up disappointing her. In fact, she's on a self-imposed hiatus from love when she has an unpleasant run-in with her neighbor's gorgeous new landscaper, Gardener Lenox.

Jax is not accustomed to gruff, ill-mannered men that can't be charmed, but when he saves her skin, she realizes that something about Gard intrigues her...and if she can find her way through the armor that surrounds his heart, she might finally find a love that won't let her down.

Addicted2Romance Review:
This story is the long awaited new story featuring the Rousseaus.

This first book stars Jax, who is a twin to Mad and is Etiene’s sister from the previous English Series book. The book opens up at Kate and Etiene’s wedding where Jax is running away from Trip who wants to steal a kiss.

In the dark of the night and gardens she meets Gardner, a Cajun former police officer and temporary gardener for the English’s. Gardener used to work SVU until he was injured on the job and now has trouble with his eyes.

He meets Jax and he likes her a lot. Jax likes him a lot and when its suggested she learns self defense she asks Gardener for lessons. And that gets this really fun story started with starts out as friends and turns into more.

I really enjoyed getting to know Jax and Gardener as they fall hard for the other.

ADDICTED2ROMANCE REVIEW:

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

I was also asked not to give any spoilers away or the whole plot of the book so here are my thoughts on this story. I am a fan of Michelle Lynn’s other books which is why I was honored to read this new Young Adult series book.

It stars 20 year old Crosby Lynch who has been attending junior college and is offered a full college education at Ridgemont college if he takes a 3rd base position on their baseball team. No brainer right? Well you’d be wrong you see Ridgemont is where Ella is.

She is Crosby’s high school girlfriend and 2 years ago something happened that changed everyones life (I am not spoiling what happened). So if Crosby goes to Ridgemont he will see Ella again and be on the same team as his ex best friend. And that’s all I am saying about this plot.

Despite what happened two years ago, this book was fun and really sweet and romantic. Ella is a total sweetheart and well Crosby is an amazing guy. If I was 20 again I would totally go for him. Crosby and Ella are very connected through family, thru friends and their small town. They have to learn either to move on together and to go their separate ways and it’s a very tough decision for both of them. Can love really mend hearts? Is love enough even if the worst happens? This book will answer those questions and get you thinking.

This story was really wonderful and I loved it. I cannot wait for the next Ridgemont couple.

EXCERPT

Jogging up the stairs to the second floor, I sneak into the back row of the classroom. I pull out my laptop and quickly catch up with the professor’s lecture. The guy a couple seats down passes a syllabus over, and when I turn to thank him, I’m reminded that nothing comes easy in my life.
“Is there a reason you were holding my girlfriend’s hand?” Ella’s boyfriend whispers, sliding into the open seat between us.
Well…shit.
“She won’t be your girlfriend for long,” my cockiness answers for me. My arrogance is a great intimidator that’s always worked in getting me what I want.
“Who are you?”
As his beady eyes try to daunt me, I get an up close look at him. I can see why El might have fallen for him. He’s a safe bet. Probably riding the coattails of his family’s money, paving his way with his arrogant little bitch frat brothers. It only assures me of one thing. I don’t have to fight him for El. This guy wouldn’t start a fight if I fucked her right in the middle of his bed. El is just a trophy to him. He doesn’t love her like I do.
“I’m just an old friend. We have a long history together.” I glance at him from the corner of my eye, offering him a quick wink.
His knuckles whiten as he clenches his pen. It couldn’t be more satisfying, knowing I’m getting under his skin.
His annoyed expression tells me that Ella hasn’t been so open about her life and her past. This guy doesn’t have a shot.
“She’s taken, so keep your hands to yourself.”
A few heads flip around after his voice heightens.
Not needing a professor to hate me on day one, I lean in closer to whisper in his ear, “I can’t make any promises. It’s nothing personal, believe me, but technically, she’s always been mine.” I ease back against my chair right as the professor’s eyes catch mine.
Liam’s head whips around, and I wait for him to ask me to take our discussion outside. But he cowers, like I knew he would.
“Try to steal her away from me, and see what happens,” he says.
“I’m not going to have to try hard. Your time with her was over the moment she saw me.”
The professor forcefully clears her throat, eyeing us. If we don’t end this conversation soon, we’ll both be kicked out.
“Don’t be so cocky, asshole. The fact that I don’t know anything about you, and the fact that she’s never mentioned your name, show what she really thinks of you.”
“You two”—the professor points, and a hundred pairs of eyes turn in our direction—“since you’re so chatty, maybe you should be conducting the lecture this morning?” She crosses her arms over her purple blouse and waits for our answer.
“Sorry, Professor Knight,” Douche Bag says.
“Sorry,” I say.
She nods and starts the lecture back up again, her eyes continuing to linger on us.
He slides over to his original seat.
I strike my earlier thought. I have no idea what El sees in this weak shithead.
I lean over the now vacant chair, testing my luck one final time. “Don’t worry. I’ll be around. We can continue this conversation soon.”
He scoffs me off, shaking his head. His fingers start tapping on the keys of his laptop as he accepts his defeat for this round.

Description:

"You are cordially invited to a very special wedding..." What do you get when two Sullivans pick the same wedding date?

Two super-sexy grooms. Two beautiful brides. Two very unconventional (four-legged and furry) ring bearers. And Sullivans from around the word coming together to celebrate vows of forever with auto mogul Zach Sullivan and dog trainer Heather Linsey--and pro baseball star Ryan Sullivan and sculptor Vicki Bennett.

Addicted2Romance Review:

I am a big Sullivan fan and this book is a short but fun 2 weddings and a baby story. Its 3 years after Ryan and Vicky’s story ended and 3 years after Heather and Zach’s story ended.

Neither couple has married though they got engaged. They both decide to get married on November 15th for different reasons and also decide it should be a double wedding.

This was a fun catch up on both couples and I loved seeing all the Sullivan’s and their friends and family who joined the wedding. In addition it was fun seeing who had married and had kids and catching up with them again.

This is a short and fun read for fans of the series and I loved seeing everyone.
