Cocky Hero Club

So I love hate to love stories and I have never read a story with so much hatred as this story. Its a very dark story about a forced marriage and the two characters who hate each other for 90% of this story. They are never friends and are adversaries for most of this story. The why, well I guessed that pretty early on, but the heroine doesn't learn that until the end.

In one part of the story the hero cheats on the heroine and she absolutely knows it and even sees it and it kinda grossed me out. There is a part of the story with this other woman and I actually found her kinda gross and even Corton's reaction didn't impress me either. Now both main characters hate each other so I understood that they never agree to not cheat, but at one time this other character says I had an abortion and that discusted me in that its not true and it destroyed any liking or sympathy I might have had for this other character. I felt that she needed some self esteem and Corton really had used her and she liked that and her scenes were awful. I didn't really see the point of those scenes and so it made me not like Corton at all.

Carla Star has a one night stand with Corton and the man tapes her and then blackmails her  and forces her to marry him for a period of one year. He treats her horribly and he never says why. She is a wonderful character and a big victim in this story and no matter what he does she manages to hate him. This is truly a hate filled story and the love only happens after the revenge plot has ended. It is extremely well done by the author and is an extremely dark story.

This story featured Chance, Aubrey and Chase and Chance and Aubrey were connected to this story in an awesome way and to both main characters. I loved how Chase was used to make Corton jealous.

FATEFUL FIGHTER
BY KATHY COOPMANS

“I want a divorce.”
No woman wants to say those words. No woman who is still in love with her husband anyway.

Our marriage has been tested, repeatedly.
It’s been dragged through tabloids and rumors and fans that just won’t let us be.
Through it all, we’ve remained unbreakable.

We didn’t have the perfect marriage because perfection doesn’t exist.
But we had love. We had trust. We had chemistry that to this day sets everything inside me on fire.

Then one life-threatening statement creates a chain of lies that leaves me no choice but to say those horrible words.

I never thought I’d say them.

I never thought my husband would ignore me when I did.

I never thought the man I love would sever the vows we took.

I never thought I’d pack my bags and move from our home in L.A. to our getaway cottage in Hermosa Beach.

Then again, I never thought he'd choose the fate of his life over his fate with me.

Cocky Hero Club

This is the story about Mason, a retired fighter and his wife Eden, who has supported him since they were married over 15 years ago. They were both foster kids and the way they escaped poverty was through Mason becoming a prize fighter.

When he got his 5th concussion, they told him he must quit or he could die or end up with a brain injury. Since then he has worked with his wife and they own a beach house, next door to Chance and Aubrey, and run an art gallery and a boxing gym.

However Eden discovers that Mason has a secret he has been hiding for 2 years and she leaves him and he is in denial and a mess and this is their story.

It was a dark romance in that it is no joke what could happen to Mason. Eden was such a wonderful character in her strength and how she fights for Mason's life even against him. The author did an awesome job with all the characters in this story and I really loved it so much.

DOCTOR HEARTBREAKER
BY KATHRYN M. HEARST

The nurses call me Dr. Heartbreaker. They say I put the hot in hot-shot cardiologist.

Not that it matters. I never stick my tongue depressor in my co-workers.

What can I say? I play by a set of personal rules.

Even if those rules eliminate 99.9% of the woman I come in contact with from my dating-pool.

Even if those rules landed me on a blind date with Emily, my childhood sweetheart, a woman I hadn’t seen since I broke her heart freshmen year of college.

Let’s just say the evening was a disaster. She took one look at me, and it was…

Date over. Do not pass go. Do not collect your two-hundred dollars.

The thing is, I can’t stop thinking about her. She was my first kiss, and every other first that two people could share.

She’s the only woman I’ve ever loved.

How can I make her understand what really happened between us when she wants nothing to do with me?

How can I let her walk away again, when it could mean another ten years wondering…what if?

The answer’s simple. I can’t.

Unfortunately, the solution to my dilemma is a five-year-old Colombian girl with a deadly heart condition. The same little girl Emily’s non-profit organization brought to the United States to receive life-saving surgery.

When the chief of staff informs me, I need to improve my public image because my bedside manner sucks--not THAT bedside manner. I’m just fine between the sheets, thank you very much—I agree to perform the girl’s operation…

Because spending more time with Emily is worth the risk.
Even if it means I have to break every rule in my playbook.

Even if it means destroying myself in the process.

I’ll do anything for a second chance with the woman who’s owned my heart since the first-grade.

Cocky Hero Club

This is another dark romance between two characters that grew up together, Emily and Rhett. They  dated and were in love through high school and college until during a break Rhett got Lila pregnant and married her and Emily quit school and joined the military.

Now 10 yrs later they are brought back together by Bridget and Simon in a blind date from hell. Emily is in town to help a young girl heart surgery and her dr is Rhett. Which forces the two to work together to save her life and forces them to get to know each other now that they are now both single.

Lila is still around and she is the darkness in this story. But will Rhett and Emily let her ruin their 2nd chance at love?

This was a wonderful story though it had some dark moments. I loved the two moms and I loved Emily's daughter and how she befriends the young heart patient. I also loved how the author utilized both Simon and Bridget in this story  as they helped the couple out.

This was a really awesome and fun story. It  was published in February but I just read it and if you love love and laughter then you will adore this story which features a hot fire fighter.

The story opens up at a coffee shop where Quinn meets Mac and Riley, two fire fighters who she sent her underwear too. Sounds insane right?  Well Quinn is a hoot and a lot of fun and the whole panties thing is a way for her to help her bestie and neighbor get a date with a guy she works for, unfortunately her plan goes awry and the firefighters end up with her panties.

When she meets Riley she is in instalust but instead she asks Mac out. Mac is sorta a daddy figure to Riley and so this fun story gets going.

It is a fun, romance with lotsa laughts and plenty of high jinks along the way. Its definitely light reading but a wonderful, feel good story with awesome characters. And there is a book 2 featuring Mac, so be sure and read this story soon so you are ready for the 2nd book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

A hot-headed college golfer falls for her swing coach in this fun and sexy sports romance.

Lincoln Reeves may be a pro golfer and revered swing coach, but when I meet him, he is just one more person telling me I’m not good enough. So, I do what any girl in my position would do. I tell him to get lost and take his arrogant, annoying smirk with him. I never expect to see him again. I certainly don’t expect to run into him that same night after one too many tequila shots.

Turns out that he’s kind of a big deal. Okay, fine, a really big deal. In fact, he might be the one person who can take my game to the next level. Convincing him to help will be difficult. Not throwing my club at his handsome face when he makes me work harder than I thought humanly possible will be excruciating. But not falling for him will be the hardest thing of all.

Stay up to date with all things Rebecca!

This is a stand alone story set in the Valley U World, it has some cameos from the previous Basketball Players but it features all new characters and centers around the game of golf in the college setting. It stars Lincoln who runs a sports website where they do online coaching for all kinds of sports. Linc is a pro at golf and he is visiting Valley U and doing some clinics for the teams when he meets Keira, a 21 year old, hothead golfer whose coach hates her.  She is obsessed with golf and so she ends up asking Linc to coach her and thats how a beautiful relationship begins.

I liked how while Linc and Keira are coach and student, it was not a forbidden relationship as no money ever gets exchanged  and he is not in any way related to her school. So its not really a forbidden relationship. However it is still complicated as they both need each other and have a student/coach relationship. While there is also a big age gap in the story it was not a big deal in this story. Keira is 21 and Linc is 29. But age was never an issue in this story ebcause Keira is very mature.

They do not live in the same city so its a virtual relationship for a lot of the story. Though they do see each other in person when they drive to each other. I loved Linc's gram and Keira's dad. I loved how they were both there for their families and how Gran is there for Keira. when she needs her.

The only character I hated in the story was Keira's college coach. I was hoping we'd see or learn why he had it out for her.

In conclusion this was a fantastic story about following your passion and working hard and giving it your all and following your dream.

                      Excerpt:

Prologue

~ Elena ~

Twelve Years Ago

I’ve always hated this room. My father’s office is grand, full of honey oak bookcases, a massive chandelier, and a desk in the center of the space that’s bigger than the bed I sleep on. Floor-to-ceiling windows are at his back and look out over the estate that he insisted on but, in large part, ignores.
Whenever I’m due for a massive lecture, this is where he drags me.
“May I please speak with you?”
“What is it?” He doesn’t look up from his computer, which doesn’t surprise me.
Paying attention to his daughter has never been a priority for this man.
I’ll just share my news and go straight to my room, pack my things, and be out of here for good.
I can almost smell the freedom. I can’t wait to move in with my husband. My husband. That word makes me want to spin in circles of excitement. Archer and I will make a home and have babies. His family is wonderful, and there will be so much love in our household. Our kids will never question whether we love them. They’ll never be afraid. And when the time comes, they’ll be able to marry whomever they please.
“I got married.” I square my shoulders and lift my chin. “Three days ago.”
I’m not afraid of my father. Not now. But my stomach quivers with butterflies.
I’m eighteen years old. An adult. And I’m able to make my own decisions without influence from my parents.
What can he do? What’s done is done. He looks up from his desk, and his cold eyes narrow.
“And who, exactly, did you marry, Elena?”
“Archer Montgomery.”
He sets his pen aside and leans back in his big, black chair, silently watching me. His calculating stare makes me want to squirm, but I hold steady.
“Isn’t that the boy I told you to stop seeing a year ago?”
“He’s a good man, Dad. If you’d just give him a chance—”
He stands and paces behind the desk, looking out the windows and shoving his hands into his pockets.
Maybe he’ll just tell me to leave. That would be the best-case scenario.
“What is your last name, Elena?”
“Montgomery.”
“Don’t.” His voice isn’t loud, but it’s firm.
“Watkins.”
He turns and stares at me impassively. “That’s right. And that last name, along with the Martinellis’, holds more weight than you can ever fully understand. It means that, as my daughter, you don’t have the freedom to marry whomever you choose, whenever you decide to do it.”
“I’m an adult.”
“You’re my daughter!” I blink at the spurt of anger. He’s not impassive now. His eyes shoot daggers at me, and sweat breaks out across my skin.
“Dad, I love him.”
He shakes his head and waves off my comment as if it’s an annoying fly buzzing around his head.
“We’ll have it annulled immediately.”
“No.”
He lifts an eyebrow. I’ve never told my father no. I don’t think anyone in his life ever has. No one would dare. “Excuse me?”
I lift my chin again. “No.”
He stalks around his desk and grips my arm just above my elbow, almost painfully, and drags me through the house, up the stairs, and into my bedroom.
“You’re putting me in time out?”
“I should have done this a long time ago. You’re too spoiled. Too indulged. You think you can defy me, go against what’s best for the family like this?”
We keep moving quickly through the room to my closet, where he pulls a sash off my robe, yanks my arms above my head, and ties me to the light fixture in the middle of the room.
He steps back, barely breathing hard.
“This is where you’ll stay until you come to your senses.”
And then he walks out.

About Kristen:

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.
During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.
Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.
Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

This is Archer and Elena/Ally's romance and it introduces a new series by this author relating to the Seattle Mafia. Elena fell in love with Archer in high school and her father as the head of the mafia and punished her to get her to dump Archer. But she always loved Archer and so she ran away and hid herself for years.

In this book Archer has discovered his sister Anastasia knew where she was the whole time and he has finally found her and he is not giving up without a fight.

This book has a few scenes with the other Seattle characters but its also largely Archer and Elena and her family as they track them and come after her. Its very tense book as Elena tried to escape them. Whats different in this story is it has 3 POV's, Archer, Elena and her cousin Carmine. Carmine is the character that starts the Mafia series so it was great getting to know him.

I also really liked how Elena and Archer visit Cunningham Falls and we get a few scenes with the characters that live there.

This was a wonderful story about soul mates and the authors first mafia story. Thought its light on the mafia. I avoid mafia stories and even though its a mafia story, its not about drugs, killings  and crimes. It more about the family culture of the mafia.
