It’s not you. It’s me.
No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.
Everything I touch turns to cr*p. An apartment fire—that I swear I was not responsible for—means I’m living back at home with my s*x-mad parents. Yay, me!
Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.
Ahem.
On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.
Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.
Now, nothing is easy—except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do p*rn, it’s just not worth it.
Or is it?

Excerpt:

I took my coffee from the counter and scanned the room for an empty table. There wasn’t one, which killed my chances of wasting more time before I went home. With a sigh, I checked my phone for the time and headed for the door. I was going to end up at home earlier than I’d planned, and I needed to check with my mom to make sure there wasn’t anything kinky happening somewhere in the house. I’d considered bleaching my eyes enough in the last few weeks, thank you. I was fairly sure I was safe because my grandfather and great aunt were coming to stay to celebrate Grandpa’s eightieth birthday. It was still a miracle my exhibitionist mother shared DNA with either of them. Unlike her, they were reserved, polite, and didn’t flash their flesh in the hopes of getting out of a speeding ticket. Really, it was no wonder I was a walking disaster. I pulled up my messages and clicked on my mom’s name. My thumb was poised to type the burning question of whether or not it was safe to come home when I glanced up. And saw the car screeching to a stop, mere inches from me. I screamed and stepped back. My heel caught on the curb, sending me toppling backward, and both my coffee and phone went flying. My cup slammed against the sidewalk, splattering hot liquid everywhere right as I managed to save my phone from certain death by concrete. My heart was beating so fast it should have exploded, and adrenaline raced through my veins. I gripped my phone against me so tightly that the edges pressed painfully into my skin. Oh my God. I’d just almost died. Maybe slightly dramatic, but I probably wasn’t far wrong. I didn’t even know I’d stepped into the road. When had that happened? Had I really been in that deep into my own little world that I hadn’t even checked for traffic? Dear God. How was I still alive? The back door to the sleek, black car that somehow hadn’t run me over swung open. From my vantage position on the sidewalk, the first thing I saw was a pair of shiny, black shoes attached to legs wearing perfectly-pressed, light gray dress pants. I dragged my gaze up from the feet, over the door of the perfectly clean car, and stared at the most beautiful man known to humankind. Thick, dark, wavy hair covered his head, curling over his ears. Lashes the same dark shade of brown framed impossibly bright-blue eyes that regarded me with a mixture of shock and concern, and my ovaries about exploded when he rubbed a large hand over full pink lips and a stubbled, strong jaw. “Miss—I’m so sorry. Are you okay?” Scrambling to my feet as he approached me, I tugged down the leg of my pants and grabbed my pursed. “Yes. I mean—it was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention. I’m sorry.” He let go of the car door, showing broad shoulders and just how well that gray suit was tailored to him, and picked up my coffee cup. “All the same, I think we can share blame. Are you sure you’re not hurt?” Just my dignity, and by this point, I was running low on it anyway. I shifted, taking a step back. “I’m fine, really. Thank you.” “Can I replace your coffee? Give you a ride anyway to apologize?” His expression was so earnest, his concern so genuine that I almost gave in. Almost. I had almost walked into the front of his car, then proceeded to embarrass myself in front of everyone on the street. “No, no, it’s fine. I’m not far from home.” I clutched my phone and purse straps a little harder. “Again, thank you, but I should be going.” He nodded as if he understood. “Uh, miss? Did you drop something there?” My eyes followed the direction Mr. Dreamboat was pointing. On the side of the road, tucked against the curb, was a pair of white, cotton panties with flamingos on them. My white, cotton panties with flamingos on them. Swallowing, I met his bright eyes and shook my head. Dear God, please don’t let me blush. “No. I’ve never seen them before.” I backed up a little more. “Thank you for not running me over.” Mr. Dreamboat grinned, his eyes brightening with his smile. “I’d never be able to forgive myself if I’d been responsible for running over someone as beautiful as you.” He glanced toward my panties, then winked at me. There was no doubting that I was blushing this time around. You could fry eggs on my cheeks. So I did the only thing any self-respecting, twenty-five-year-old woman who’d just almost been run over, tripped, and dropped her dirty panties could do. I ran. But only like two blocks, because I was in heels, and I had the fitness levels of a hippo. Then I grabbed a cab.

Mallory is a really fun character and she definitely made me laugh a lot. Cam is her brand new boss and the two are very attracted but he is her boss. They form a boss/employee friendship and have to decide how to proceed with their attraction while also working together.

But Mallory is this huge klutz and I loved her map cap ways. Cam falls pretty hard for lutzy Mallory and I loved watching these two fall for the other and decide how to deal with their emerging feeling for the other.

This is a VERY slow burn story. They only kiss very late in the story but it really worked because they become real friends and enjoy some great adventures together. This is a standalone story and I really loved it. If you are looking for a fun, story with great characters and lots of laughs then this is the story for you.

HOLLYWOOD PLAYBOY by Natasha Madison

ABOUT THE BOOK

Jessica
An entertainment journalist was the last thing I thought I would be doing. I thought once I got my degree, I would be reporting on stories that made a difference, but now all I do is report on who broke up with who and who is dating who. I was over it. Then I got my next assignment. He’s Hollywood’s bad boy. He works hard, and he plays even harder. He’s rude, he’s condescending, and he’s made it known he doesn’t want me on the tour. With one month on the road with him, two things might happen One, I may never work in this industry again. Two, I may just be like everyone else and fall for Hollywood’s Playboy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

I absolutely LOVED this story...LOVED. Like I want to re-read it again. And that is saying a lot because it took me a while to really start liking the characters. Both of them were kinda jerks to each other but when they finally call a truce well that's when I fell in love with them.

Tyler is our Hollywood leading man and playboy. He HATES Jessica with a passion. He thinks she is a very bad reporter and does not always check her facts. Meanwhile Jess thinks Tyler is a class A jerk with talent in movies but she really hates him and tries to avoid him at all costs.

There is a 3rd character in this story and she is Cassie, Tyler's assistant and know that she is a character you are meant to hate. I loved how Jess treats her and how she gets Tyler to cut her out of things at times.

This story was amazing and the other thing I gated was that it ended. I would love a 2nd book in the series about Tyler and Jess because I felt there was so much more I still wanted to explore with them. That said the book ends so wonderfully and I loved the whole journey for both of them from hate to love. The author did an amazing job making these two characters really grow.

Excerpt

She moves into my space and tilts her head up, her eyes light and mischievous. “Kiss me, Lucas.”
The breath leaves my lungs in one gigantic swoosh. “Are you sure?”
“Let’s give them a show.”
I’m about to kiss Kate.
This time, I’m prepared.
Clasping my hands on either side of her face, I angle my head slightly. There’s a pause. A suspended moment where our eyes meet. The swirl of emotions I see there—apprehension, lust, desire—makes my heart trip.
We exchange breath. And then finally, my mouth dips to hers.
I try to remind myself we’re pretending, to stay calm, and in control.
My mouth is firm against hers. Her lips are sugar plum sweet and silky soft. The kiss remains gentle, slow. We hold it for a few seconds before our lips begin to move in perfect sync, slowly, cautiously.
Curiosity nudges for more. I move my hand from her cheek to the back of her head, my fingers tangling in her hair, holding her lips to mine, silently asking for permission. To my delight, a needy little moan echoes from her mouth to mine. She wraps her arms around my neck and parts her lips in gentle invitation.
And our tongues hungrily say hello.
A stimulating cocktail of endorphins explodes inside me. Sparks fly in every direction, lighting me up like fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Every single nerve explodes with heat.
I’m fired up. Turned on.
From somewhere deep in the recesses of my mind, I know this is a cover, that we aren’t real, but with Kate’s lips on mine, it’s hard to keep that thought. On a groan, I take all she has to give and deepen the kiss, forging ahead with no regrets. No reservations.
Many tales have been written about the Big Apple. But there’s nothing like kissing the woman you’ve been thinking about for what feels like forever in the middle of Manhattan.
The chaos from the street fades. The worries of the day evaporate like a summer shower falling onto a hot car, all noise instantly muting. The click-clack of heels rushes by us. We don’t hear them. People brush against us. We don’t feel them.
We are locked in the present, kissing each other as equal partners in passion, fucking each other with our mouths like we’re drowning and we are each other’s air, as if our lips were created for this sole purpose.
Talk about heaven on earth.
This kiss is easily the hottest, most erotic kiss of my life.
My pulse patters faster and faster. The heat pouring into my veins as if pumped in through a hypodermic needle has nothing to do with today’s summerlike temperature but with desire.
I move one arm low around her back, drawing her closer, letting her feel every inch of me, how much she affects me. And we kiss and kiss and kiss.

This was a fun story my only issue with it is that it is 10% a male POV and we don't really ever hear from the heroine, except in a blog post as she runs a lifestyle blog page. I really wanted to hear her pov and that was the only thing I did not love about this story.

Kate and Lucas have been friends for over 20 years but in the last year Lucas has just really noticed Kate and is in deep lust with Kate but he is a single dad and his daughter loves Kate and he does not ever want to get married again so he avoids Kate romantically.

However, now his ex wants to take his daughter to France and they are battling it out. Kate decides to help and pretends to be engaged to him and that is when all the lustful feelings are hidden and things really get interesting.

This is book 2 in a series and is the first book by this author that I read. I really enjoyed getting into Lucas' head and watching him fall hard for Kate.

Royce by Kat Mizera

Royce by USA TODAY bestselling author Kat Mizera is available now!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Just because opposites attract, doesn’t mean they belong together... Professional hockey player Royce Lenahan is no stranger to chaos. He grew up surrounded by it, so as an adult he likes things nice and orderly: His apartment, his hockey schedule, even his dates. When his best friend and teammate asks him to take his visiting sister to a rock concert, he isn’t expecting the sultry, leather-clad vixen that has his jaw dropping.

Force of nature Kristina Papadakis feels like two separate people sometimes: The demure, proper Greek girl she was raised to be, and the badass rock musician she could be. She’s never had a problem keeping her worlds apart until her brother’s straight-laced but oh-so-hot teammate stumbles into both of them, creating a collision she wasn’t looking for.

As Royce and Tina explore an unexpected but undeniable passion, they soon discover that love isn’t always enough. Opposites might attract, but they’ll have to learn to compromise if they want to last. Royce has to be willing to give up control long enough to tame Tina’s gypsy soul, before she wanders away for good.

About the Author:

Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she’s called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She’s never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she’d probably choose the west coast.

Kat’s a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she’s not writing, she’s either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) – traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach. Kat has been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article–a review of a rock concert–for $10 in 1985.

Since then she’s been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles. As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There’s something enticing about hockey players and romance…

Connect with Kat:

This book was beyond wonderful. I did not just fall in love with Royce, I also fell in love with side characters in this story like Casey. (please write a story for her). Casey is a rock singer and the female lead in this story, Tina loves her music and so at the start of the book, Royce is asked by his teammate , roomie and bestie to take Tina to Casey's concert in NYC where she lives and he is visiting.

Casey has two kids and they are at the concert. Royce realizes they are in danger and he ends up protecting them. That leads him and Tina into a friendship with Casey. Casey is also a big hockey fan and also lives in Vegas. She invites Tina to come to Vegas for work and that is how Royce and Tina really spend time together and get to know each other.

This story is about Royce and Tina and how and if they can make the relationship work. Royce was a tough character. He is very ADD and he gets irritated very easily but he really likes Tina even if she drives him a little bonkers. I loved how realistic this story was to some degree.

Love takes work and compromise and that really is what this story is about. It is extremely well written and features characters from the entire series though it easily stands alone.

From Smoke To Flames - The West Brothers Series #3 - by A.M. Hargrove

About the Book

They say there’s a fine line between love and hate. Ours was a mile wide.

To put it bluntly, my life sucked.
When I finally got up the courage to divorce my jerk of a husband, never in a million years did I imagine his prick of an attorney would gain him full custody of my daughter.
My scant two weekend visits per month killed me.
And my ex made it as difficult as possible on me every single time.
So imagine my shock when said attorney’s name appeared at the top of the list at the in-patient substance abuse clinic where I worked as a counselor.
My list.
The first thing that occurred was I completely lost my Zen.
Then my blood boiled.
Then his chart flew across the room and slammed into the wall.
How could this possibly be happening?
Karma couldn’t be this cruel.
How in the world could I be an empathetic abuse counselor to the cocky Pearson West who destroyed my life?
I would rather become an addict myself, or better yet, strangle him first.

This story was VERY different than I expected and to be honest there were parts that turned my stomache and even gave me nightmares. It is VERY well written. Its plot is extremely intense and it is really a very different romance than any other in this series.

Some things to be pre-warned about incase they are a sensitive subject for you, Pearson is a drug addict at the start of this story and he hits the bottom before he gets help so if drug addiction is an issue for you, be warned. This story also features an abusive former spouse and he is very nasty in this story, he also has custody of the female lead, Rose's daughter so that's also something to beware of.

Pearson is our male lead and he is the brother of the other male leads in other books in this series. He is the baby and also a lawyer. He handles stress with drugs and he only gets help after he overdoses in the first chapter.

This leads him to a drug addiction program and Rose is assigned him as a patient as she is a drug counselor. SHE HATES him because he helped her abusive ex get FULL custody of her young daughter. And she hates him with a passion and I loved this aspect of the story.

Eventually Pearson and Rose come to ahead and they both realise they need help and each one can help the other. This was when the story got pretty great. It is a very slow burn story with them being there for the other and becoming good friends and even roomies.

Rose's ex is the devil and I don't say that lightly. I cannot spoil what happens but I HATED him so much and he gave me nightmares. How any judge could give him full custody I don't understand. That said this was an intense and wonderfully written with characters I fell in love with.

Hosed by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente

Blurb

The world's sexiest firefighter is about to get a second chance with the virgin next door…

He's bossy, arrogant, and so ridiculously hot he should come with a warning label and a pair of flame retardant coveralls.

He's also the boy who broke my heart when we were in high school.

I want to move in next door to Ryan O'Dell the way I want to be the virgin gamer geek suddenly in charge of running my sister's sex toy factory. Too bad both are written in my stars.

Yeah, I'm the world's oldest virgin code-writing nerd.

And he's the world's hottest firefighter.

And even though he intimidates the heck out of me, I can't seem to control my libido when he's around.

Where is my dignity? My self-respect? My panties?

Seriously…. Have you seen them? Anyone?

Maybe they're hiding in his bedroom. With my heart.

Yeah, I know. I'm hosed.

So hosed.

Hosed is a steamy, fun romantic comedy between a firefighter and the virgin nerd next door, complete with a pet raccoon, scandalous gossip, and dildo football. (No, really.) This romance has no cheating or cliffhangers, and ends with a banging hot happily ever after.

Pippa Grant

Pippa Grant is a stay-at-home mom and housewife who loves to escape into sexy, funny stories way more than she likes perpetually cleaning toothpaste out of sinks and off toilet handles. When she’s not reading, writing, sleeping, or trying to prepare her adorable demon spawn to be productive members of society, she’s fantasizing about chocolate chip cookies.

Lili Valente

Lili Valente has slept under the stars in Greece, eaten dinner at midnight with French men who couldn’t be trusted to keep their mouths on their food, and walked alone through Munich’s red light district after dark and lived to tell the tale.

These days you can find her writing in a tent beside the sea, drinking coconut water and thinking delightfully dirty thoughts.

This is a really fun romance between the local fire-fighting hottie, Ryan and Cassie, the virgin nerd who now runs a sex toy factory in her local home town for her sister who has run away from home. If that sounds a little nutty well it is. But its also a sweet, fun and hot romance and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

Ryan and so adorable and he falls pretty hard for Cassie, but someone is sabotaging the sex factory and so there is a little mystery in the story. Add in all the fun characters in Happy Cat, yes that is what this small town is called and you will have a story you will fall in love with.

This is a stand alone story filled with lots of laughs and crazy characters in a small town. If you are looking for laughs then you won't want to miss this romance.

Game On by Kelly Jamieson

Game On by Kelly Jamieson is AVAILABLE NOW!

When the stakes are this high, it’s game on. . . . “Kelly Jamieson is an auto-buy for me.”—New York Times bestselling author Carly Phillips

Cam Brickley and his pro hockey teammates bet on everything: who can win five faceoffs in a row, who can do forty pushups in less than a minute, who can eat a ghost pepper without puking. But when his buddies bet him he can’t date the same woman—like, say, the hot blonde over at the bar—for two months and not fall in love, he’ll take that bet all day. Then he’ll laugh all the way to the hockey arena, where they’ll be washing his jock straps for the rest of the season, because Cam’s never giving up his bachelor lifestyle.

Olivia Lockwood, heiress to the Lockwood Industries fortune, is used to people using her for her money and family connections. When Cam Brickley hits on her in a club, Olivia’s first instinct is to brush him off. But he couldn’t be using her for her money, since he has more than enough of his own. Cam’s gorgeous and built, and it would be no hardship to go out with him . . . besides, he’d be the perfect spokesperson for the children’s charity she works with. Maybe it’s time for her to start using people. Cam and Olivia are both in it for something. What they don’t know yet is that they’re playing for keeps.

This is a really fun and sweet story. Cam and Olivia meet one night at a bar when he is with his hockey buddies. They are all partnered up and he only does short relationships so they bet him he can't get a date with her and that he dates her a few months, he will fall in love. He claims to not do LOVE and so the bet is on.

Olivia is a poor little rich girl. She owns a non profit and would love Cam to be their spokesman but she also doesn't do love as men just want her for her rich daddy. She ends up on a really first date with Cam but he wants another and because she wants him to work with her company she goes again. Their ddates are so fun and sweet I really loved these two together.

I loved how honest they are with each other and when the bet comes out I loved how much fun they have with it and tease Cam's buddies. This is the ending of the series and I am so sorry it is ending. Kudos to the author for writing a really fun hockey series.
