The Match by Jillian Quinn

One date. Wrong match.

When the raven-haired beauty popped up on my phone as a match, I had to have her. She became a fast obsession, one I couldn't get out of my head. Our first date was a disaster. But when it came to sex, we made sense. So, we came up with an arrangement--sex with no strings attached.

Everything was working out until she became my new employee. I was supposed to train her, show her the ropes. But she made it impossible to stay away. The closer we worked, the more I realized maybe we were the perfect match. She just didn't know it yet.
SLOAN

My cell phone dings with another match. I slide my finger along the screen to open the app and stare at Ava’s picture. Long black hair, denim-colored eyes, pale skin, and nice, plump lips stare back at me. She’s a twenty-six-year-old student from New York who recently relocated to Philadelphia.
Her profile ends with a line that makes me laugh. “If you’re looking for a good time, call 867-5309.” Like the song by Tommy Tutone. How clever. That wouldn’t work on everyone, but it sure does with me. Ava is not only beautiful and smart, she’s also funny. I like her.
After I click the button to verify our match, it seems like hours before my phone dings again with Match accepted. I suck in a deep breath, thinking of something interesting to say. Nothing comes to mind.
Me: Hey! Nice profile. I tried to call the number, but it was busy.
I clutch the phone in my hand and wait, watching as the chat bubble pops up. She’s typing. Thirty seconds later a message appears.
Ava: The second I hang up with one guy another calls. You wouldn’t believe all the calls I get.
Me: Funny girl.
Ava: I amuse myself.
Me: I’m entertained. Dinner this Friday?
Ava: Depends. Are you a serial killer?
Me: Only on the weekends.
Ava: I guess we should change our dinner until Monday then. Just in case.
Me: We could move it up to Thursday. I get tired after all those kills.
Ava: At least you’re not boring.
Me: Did I pass the test?
Ava: I guess. You’re a doctor, right?
Me: A surgeon. So, dinner this week?
Ava: As long as you’re not the Hannibal Lecter kind of doctor and plan to surgically remove my kidneys.
I shake my head, laughing, and type out a quick reply.
Me: You’ve got a thing for serial killers, huh?
Ava: You have no idea the kind of dates I have been on lately. A girl’s gotta have standards.
Me: Like not getting eaten.
Ava: Lol at least not in that kind of way.
Ooh, she’s dirty. I like it.
Before I can respond, another message comes through.
Ava: How about drinks? The Fountain Lounge at seven on Thursday. Dinner afterward if you’re lucky.
Me: Perfect. See you then.

This was a short but HOT romance about two doctors, Sloan is a surgeon and wants to chief or surgery. He meets Ava through a phone app before she starts her residency and they have a very HOT night.

Then he discovers she is his resident and he is her boss...and I am not telling you what happens after that. This was HOT, more hot than story in my opinion. The plot was very light and we don't really get to know the characters very well but this is a HIGHLY erotic story and if that is what you want with a light romance on the side then you will love this story.

This is my new favorite in the series and I am so sad this series has ended. This book is Brett Bad's story, he is the PI brother and he has had a thing for years for his brothers assistant Sophie.

Sophie I LOVED!! She has been ducking and avoiding Brett. Not because she doesn't lust for him but because she does. BADLY! He is a player and she comes from a good family and is looking for a relationship and that's not who Brett is.

But when Sophie lets her walls down and agrees to see Brett, well she has his number. He doesn't just fall hard for her but for her life and her family. It was really wonderful seeing where Sophie came from and watching Brad fall in love with her family and start to remember the good ones with his sister and his family.

Kudos to the author for concluding this series with such a heart warming and romantic story. I LOVED the entire story and I loved what happens with the Bad dad.

Definite - Soul Serenade #3 - by Kaylee Ryan

About the Book

Lauren captivated me with those big brown eyes of hers, and I knew my life would never be the same. What started out as friendship, has turned into so much more.

I was shocked when Tristian asked for my number. There hasn't been a day since that I haven't heard from him. He may be the drummer, but that deep sexy voice, it turns me inside out.

I assumed it would be one and done, but that's not how our story ends.

I worry it's not what he wants. He tells me he's Definite.

I am a HUGE Kaylee Ryan fan. HUGE! And I have read this entire series. I would definitely say this story does not stand alone. You should read the first two books first. This is Tristian and Lauren's story and Lauren is the cousin of the heroine in book 1 and her and Tristian meet in Book 1.

This story really doesn't start when they meet but rather carries you forward as they text and get to know each other over time. They really become very close but they live in different cities and Lauren is very attached to her city.

This is their story of how as friends, one night things go too far and Tristian wants more of that. Lauren is the one he has to convince and the title of the story is because he is very DEFINITE that they are meant for the other.

To be honest this is not my favorite in the series. Mostly because I didn't fall in love with the couple and see every second of their romance. However, I still loved the story and I thought it was sweet, fun and very romantic. Tristian I LOVED!! At times I didn't understand Lauren's attitude but Tristian was just so romantic and there for Lauren that I loved their story.

About the Author

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Craft - The Gibson Boys #2 - by Adriana Locke

About the Book

They’re not quite enemies. Not really friends. More like frustrated balls of sexual tension and neither will give in.

Lance Gibson drives Mariah Malarkey absolutely crazy. He uses her office like a phone booth, takes cupcakes from the corner of her desk like she baked them just for him. She didn’t. Maybe she knew the history teacher happened to love peanut butter icing, but that was purely a coincidence. All sixteen times.

Mariah has a way of getting under Lance’s skin too. She calls him out on his crap, spoils him even if inadvertently, and seeing the librarian in skirts drives him wild. She won’t give in. It’s for the best, really, considering there’s no way he could lie to a woman like that and he’s not about to tell her the truth about himself. Not in a million years.

These two don’t hate each other. They don’t really like each other. But for this to be a friends-to-lovers story, they have to start somewhere, right?

Note: This can be read as a standalone novel.

For most of this book I was wondering about the title what and who was Craft but then I got it and I really liked it. The theme of this book is to craft your life and that is not always something easy to do but sometimes life is not what you expect and you have you have to get past you painful past and craft a future for yourself. The BIG issue I am not spoiling except to say it surprised me. It was not something I saw coming and it made sense with how it affected Lance's life and I totally understood why it was a big deal for him and Mariah.

This story is Lance Gibson's story, he is the teacher brother we met in the last book. We get occasional glances at the Gibson boys. Not as much as in Crank but a few scenes with them. I would have loved more brothers and their interaction with Mariah but I also understood why they are not as present. To some degree Lance has kept a distance from them since his parents died and he has a big secret they don't know.

Mariah is the sexy librarian at Lance's High School and he gives her a very hard time. She in turn has a like/hate relationship with him. I actually loved their relationship and how they each give each other a hard time and with their flirtation.

This was a really fun and flirty stand alone. There is one big issue that Lance has and it was a doozy. I totally understood why it was this big thing for the two.

Charming Fiona by Jessica Prince

As I child, I believed in true love and fairytales. I convinced myself that there was one special man out there, made just for me. All I had to do was wait, and one day he would appear. Then I grew up and discovered the ugly truth.
Disney movies were full of crap.
Relationships took work. People made mistakes. And sometimes, you didn’t see what was standing right in front of you until it was too late.
Deacon Lockhart was my best friend. And then I lost him. But now I finally have a chance to make things right, and this time I refuse to screw it up. With every smoldering look and wicked word, he charms the hell out of me… and I’m pretty sure I’ll never get enough.

I hated grocery stores. Like seriously hated them to the point that all that was in my fridge was a box of baking soda, half a case of soda, and something that might have been cheese at one time, but I wasn’t a hundred percent certain on that.
Funny thing was, I used to love cooking, and I was damn good at it. But there was nothing enjoyable about cooking for one. I always ended up with leftovers that sat in my fridge until they inevitably spoiled. So I eventually moved to takeout or those sad meals for one you found in the freezer section. Thus began my disdain for the grocery store.
However, in my infinite wisdom, I’d decided that, since I was about to step back into the dating world, maybe it was time to implement changes in every aspect of my life. If I was going to get back on the horse again, so to speak, and start dating, then I figured why not just revamp everything?
I was going to be a whole new Fiona, one who stopped stress-eating snack cakes to fill the hole of loneliness inside of me. I was also going to implement a healthier diet and start working out.
It all sounded good, in hindsight. Then I signed up for one of those early-morning boot camps. I didn’t even last half a session. I kind of lost my shit when the instructor yelled “give me five more!” while we were doing these god-awful things called burpees—an invention of the Devil, right along with bras and pantyhose. I’d done three and was already dying, so I told him to take his five more and shove them right up his clenched ass.
I got kicked out.
Then I tried Pilates and woke up the next day feeling like I’d pulled every muscle in my body. My third attempt at exercise was yoga. Thankfully that hadn’t been so bad. I’d already gone three times and was actually starting to feel a little more zen. Sure, it probably wouldn’t help with the little food baby I’d developed since Deacon started dating Leah and I’d decided to eat my feelings, but it kept me off the couch and away from the brain-rotting reality TV I’d started to become obsessed with.
And bonus: the instructor was hot. Granted, he was a vegan hippy who wore Birkenstocks and reeked like patchouli, so not my type at all, but the smell wasn’t too over powering if I sat in the second row, and it provided me with nice weekly eye candy.
With dating on my horizon and fitness checked off my list, it was time to start the clean-eating portion of my New Fiona plan. Hence the trip to the supermarket after yoga.
I stood in the health food aisle, glaring down at the bag of kale chips in my hand like it had just insulted my mother. Little Debbie had just come out with their holiday cakes in the shape of Christmas trees, and they tasted a million times better than stupid kale chips.
My lip curled in disgust as I tossed the bag back onto the shelf. Maybe it would be best for me to start out slow, like a salad for one meal a day for a few months before expanding on that. I turned and started pushing my cart out of the aisle of tasteless, flavorless cardboard snacks only to come to a screeching halt at the sight of Deacon standing a few feet away.
“H-hi,” I stuttered. Seeing him made my belly erupt with a million butterflies.
“Christ,” he grunted in a deeply masculine, gravelly voice. “What the hell are you wearing?”
I looked down at my attire. Black yoga pants that hugged every inch they covered and a dark orange cami. I had a pale yellow jacket over my top, but it still clung to me from chest to waist, not that there was much to cling to. I was tall and thin, and while I had curves, they were nothing on par with Lola or my other friends. I had a happy handful of boobs and ass, but only just a handful.
I was covered from my neck all the way down to my feet, but the way Deacon was staring at me made me feel like I was standing in the center of the supermarket totally naked.
“Uh, yoga clothes? I just came from yoga.”
His eyes left a burning trail up my body before meeting my own. I barely caught the heat in his gaze before it was snuffed out by curiosity and a bit of bewilderment. “You do yoga?”
I wanted to be offended that he’d be so surprised by my doing anything even remotely active, but he’d known me all my life.
“It’s a new thing,” I said with a small shrug. “I decided I wanted to try and be healthier.”
His lips quirked up in a smirk as he scanned the items in my cart. “Really? And mini donuts and Fruity Pebbles are part of your diet plan?”
I glared defensively, cocking my hip and crossing my arms over my chest. “I also got whole grain bread and baby spinach.”
His smirk turned into a grin. “Oh, you’re right, sorry. Those totally cancel out the breakfast cereal that’s basically nothing but sugar.”
“I’ll have you know that cereal is perfectly healthy. It contains most of the basic food groups, and it’s not like I’ll eat the whole box in one sitting. And I’ll have a salad for dinner to balance it.”
He held up his hands in surrender and moved to the end of my cart, directly opposite me. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any offense. I was just teasing.”
His big hands wrapped around the thin metal prongs, and I couldn’t help but notice how long and thick his fingers were. It made me think of something else of his that could possible be long and thick, and how badly I wanted to find out for myself.
Annnnd, I’m blushing again.
I smiled shyly. “It’s cool. I know you were. I think… well, I think we’re just finding our footing with each other again.”
Deacon’s face went soft, causing my insides to melt. “I’m thinking maybe you’re right. But we’ll get there.”
We’ll get there. At just those three simple words, the reality of just how badly I’d screwed up with Deacon hit me like a ton of bricks.
“Yeah,” I whispered, my heart lodged in my throat. “We will.”
We had to, because I’d been living a life without him in it for way too long.
After saying our goodbyes, I was left with a feeling of longing as I watched him walk away. Needless to say, I bought the damn Christmas tree snack cakes.

Two boxes of them.

This is book 4 in the series and it stands alone. It stars Fiona who is a childhood friend of Deacon (the hero) and also the ex of Deacon's brother Greyson. Deacon has always had a thing for Fiona but her dating his brother was an issue. Then when he finally makes a move, well Fiona is too afraid to take a chance and so Deacon moves on, to Laura.

And that's where this book starts, Deacon has a girlfriend and well it is not an easy thing for Fiona. However just because he is dating Laura well Deacon wants to move on, his heart can't seem too. I loved how the author showed us bits of the past and Deacon and Fiona's relationship and where things started to go wrong.

I also loved the HOT sex scenes and the character of Deacon was amazing. He fights for Fiona's love, even if it means he has to fight Fiona for a chance at the love of his life. The author has written a sweet, sexy and HOT story with two characters I truly loved.
