Playing for Keeps - Indianapolis Eagles #3 - by Samantha Lind

About the Book

Friends with benefits—it never works. Someone always ends up wanting more.

What happens when both want more, but neither will tell the other?

Richard Murphy has been in the NHL for fifteen years, playing the game he loves. But with retirement looming in the next few years, he’s ready to settle down and start a family. There’s only one woman he wants that with, but she’s put him firmly into the friends—with benefits—category. Can he change her mind and heart, and prove to her he’s playing for keeps?

Madison O’Neal has been a lover of sports since she was young. She and her dad bonded over them, both during and after her mother lost her battle with breast cancer. Her love of sports led to a successful career as a sports agent. As much as she loves her job, what she really wants is a family—and someone to call her own. But the one man she’s head-over-heels in love with has her in the friends—with incredible benefits—category.

Can Madison and Richard find their way through the murky waters of friendship and become the lovers they secretly want to be?

This is book 3 in the series and one of my new favorites. It stars Richard and Madison who have been together for many years already but just as friends with benefits. But now Richard is ready for more and this is his story.

Meanwhile sports agent, Madison has been thrown some curves. Her dad is sick and she really leans on Richard during this time in her life. I loved watching these two open to each other and their feelings.

This story is not about falling in love, these two have been in love for years. It is about them opening up and taking the love leap and I really enjoyed every minute of it.

The story does have a side Cancer storyline with Madison's father and it was really well done and I learned a lot about that form of Cancer. Kudos to the author for writing this storyline and in such a wonderful way.

The Bombshell Effect by Karla Sorensen

Allie Sutton just got a new job.
Not one she wants, and definitely not one she's prepared for. She hadn't seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone) ... the professional football team he owned for the last twenty years.
Luke Pierson does not want a new boss.
What he wants is to be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn't need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team's chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.
For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it's a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.

"This book is EVERYTHING I love as a reader. It's hot, it's hilarious, it's witty and smart. YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE." - Amazon bestselling author Kandi Steiner
"This book is like my own personal catnip. It has sports, it has tension, and the sexy bits are amazing. The perfect blend of hot and heartwarming." - Amazon bestselling author Amy Daws
"She took one of my favorite tropes and totally dominated it, she killed it. Sorensen is a football junkie who took her passion for a sport and inserted it into a story. The Bombshell Effect is her gaming winning touchdown." - SBR Review

Just before they entered the room, something snapped through my ears at the sound of her voice, but it was nothing I could place, nothing I could pin down with certainty. We all stood to greet her, and as soon as I got the first glimpse of her dress, everything around me slowed to a sluggish, weighted crawl.
It was almost as if my brain couldn’t process what I was seeing, so the vision of her was reduced to blocks of color.
Tan shoes.
Tan legs.
Red dress.
Blond hair.
Red lips.
White teeth.
Blue-green eyes.
When it all snapped together, I lost my breath in a pained whoosh. This could not be happening.
As she smiled brightly at Dayvon, giving him her full attention, I realized she hadn’t seen me yet. My next-door neighbor, the one who had called me an arrogant asshole less than twenty-four hours earlier, was the new owner of the Washington Wolves. And she hadn’t seen me yet.
Suddenly, I understood the rampant tug of nerves and the unshakable feeling that something was about to go very, very wrong. I swiped my hand over my mouth and let out a slow breath, straightening my shoulders and holding my head up high. I could do this. I’d stared down three hundred-pound linebackers who wanted to rip the helmet off my head as they tackled my ass to the ground.
I could do this.
She turned in my direction, and I saw the moment it registered. The hitch in her step, the narrowing of her eyes, the slight purse in her scarlet red lips.
You,” she whispered.
Everything stopped. All eyes turned in my direction. The temperature in the room with that one hushed word from her went from cordial to downright glacial.
“Oh, shit,” I muttered under my breath. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest. The chest I’d ogled while she shoved cupcakes at me.
There was absolutely no part of this that could end well.

Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

This was a really fun story with a football twist and is a great first story in a new series. It stars footballer, Luke who is also a single dad and Allie Sutton, his new neighbor and the two start out as enemies and then Luke also finds out Allie is his new team owner.

It was extremely well done as enemies fall in love and I loved the single dad twist to the story. Many times Luke is an absolute JERK to Allie but Allie rises above it. I loved watching these two get to know each other and fall into lust until well.... I am not spoiling that.

This was a wonderful story that made me fall in love with every single character and I cannot wait for more in this series.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Allegiance, faithfulness, honor... Loyalty goes by many names. Emmie Landon is off-limits. She has a young son, works with my brother Jake, and lugs around enough baggage to fill an entire football stadium. But I can't resist her long, shapely legs and thick, soft curls, begging to be wrapped around my hands.

Mark Harrington is too-everything. Too good looking, too funny, too charming, too brutally honest, too impulsive. He's accustomed to getting his way, and never afraid to throw down the gauntlet. So what if I can't stop thinking about his devilish blue eyes and his lip-smacking happy trail? He needs someone to love.

She needs someone to love her. Two seemingly incompatible lives... Two hearts capable of total devotion.

**Despite being volume five in The New American Royals Series, Loyal Subjects may be read and enjoyed as a standalone contemporary romance.**

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

After being a confirmed city-girl for more than thirty-five years, Eva moved to beautiful Western Massachusetts in 2014. There, she found herself living in the woods with no job, no friends (unless you count the turkey, deer, and coyote roaming the backyard), and no children underfoot, wondering what on earth she’d been thinking.

But as it turned out, it was the perfect setting to take all those yarns spinning in her head and weave them into romantic tales. When she’s not writing, trying to squeeze information out of her tight-lipped sons, or playing with the two cutest dogs you’ve ever seen, Eva’s creating chapters in her own love story.

This is book 5 in a series and I have not read any of the previous books. This book easily stands alone. It stars Mark Harrington, a sports agent and Emmie Landon, who works on a sports team with Jake, Mark's brother and that is how those two meet.

Emmie is a widowed single mother who also lives and takes care of her mother in law and so she has a lot of baggage. Mark wants to get to know her very badly and they slowly get to know each other until Jake ends up in trouble and they end up on opposing sides.

This was a sweet romance, with an adorable kid and both characters I love. I loved that Mark is a bachelor but he is a man with integrity and when he makes mistakes he owns up to them. I really loved this story and cannot wait to read more.

BLURB:
Aiden Dwyer, a Queens construction worker, doesn’t know a salad fork from a dessert fork, unlike his best friend from college, Sebastian Parker, a privileged son from a blue-blooded Manhattan family who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Seb’s always got Aiden’s back. The same can’t be said for Seb’s little sister, Bea, who finds pleasure in mocking Aiden for his lack of social standing. A permanent fixture in New York City gossip columns, Beatrice (Bea) Parker is known as “The Park Avenue Princess.” But nobody knows that the pillar of young Manhattan society has an alter-ego on an online dating site for “discreet singles.” Lying dormant under all of their jokes and teasing is Aiden and Bea’s unrequited desire for each other. When he discovers Bea’s greatest secret, Aiden risks his friendship with Sebastian to fulfill her fantasies and make his hunger for her a reality. Warning: This epistolary novel contains flirtatious banter, double entendres, interfering parents, a heroine who leads a secret life, and a hero who could have everything he ever wanted if he plays his cards right.

Pull You Through by Kaylee Ryan

About the Book

Life is a series of events, one leading you to another. The hell I lived through with my drug-addicted parents led me to the Marine Corps. Committing my life to my country was easy. My brothers were my family--all I had and all I needed. I wasn’t looking for her, but I should have known life had other plans.

It led me to her.

From the moment we met, I knew he was different--I just didn’t realize he'd change my life. He was a guy on leave, an acquaintance. Until he was something more, something unforgettable. I never imagined he'd leave ten days later, taking a piece of me with him. Then again, maybe I did know. I just didn't care.

He was worth it.

This was an absolutely wonderful military romance from Kaylee Ryan. It stars Pull You Through young adults,  Slade and Austyn. They are both besties to Brandon who brings Slade home from the military during a break before shipping out.

Slade has no one at 18 and so he joined the military. Brandon had a girl friend, a family and everything but wants to give back to his country and that is how he ends up in the military. On break he offers to share that with Slade and Slade falls in love with that life and Austyn.

This story will make you fall in love with every character in this book. It was a wonderfully written and powerful story that will make you fall in love with every single character in the story. I only hated when it all ended because it was so sweet and romantic.

This is book 4 in a new series about college kids on a hockey team Bellevue Bullies, the star is Ryan, whose uncle was in of a former series, The Assasins. This book stands alone but at first it was very into who everyone was from the previous series and that intimated me but the second chapter opens up and we meet Sofia who is a new character and well I loved her side so much I kept reading and I fell pretty hard for this whole story.

Ryan's sister is Amelia and she is besties and roomies with Sofia. Ryan as soon as he sees her falls into instant lust but Sofia is very into gymnastics and has 3 years of college left and has no time for boys. But Ryan won't give up and I loved his charm and persistence.

The big issue between the two is that Ryan dreams of being in the NHL and he knows he won't be able to be with Sofia long term but he wants to be with her now. And Sofia has some big dreams as well.

This is a well written and wonderful story that I loved every second of. I cannot wait for more from this author and characters. Consider me a new fan of the author.
