This is a 2 part story. It starts when Carson is 18 and meets a guy in college, Maddox. The first 30% of the book is their story. I skipped this part of the story because goin in you know Maddox ends up not surviving. He has cancer and on the day of his death, Carson goes into labor and delivers her daughter, Ava.

Part two is where I started reading and even not reading part 1 I still cried a bucket over Maddox dying. In this part we meet Ava and Carson 5 years later and she has bought a house and Wren is her architect on the house.

Wren is the male hero in this story and Carson is the female heroine. Their names constantly drove me a little crazy because I always think Wren is a girl name and Carson a boy name and here it was so opposite.

Something else to keep in mind is that Carson only ever dated Maddox and when he died she took care of her daughter and has not dated until Wren asks her out. My point is she is very immature in relation to the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing. So at times her behavior was really immature.

As to Wren, he wants a family and to find love and he falls for Carson pretty much right away but she has ALOT of baggage and she confuses him on whether she is really ready for an adult relationship and love. Added to that he never tells her that as his client, he could be fired if they date.

I mostly enjoyed this story. On one side it was sad and I cried in a  few spots. But Carson's immaturity drove me a little crazy too. I loved Wren so much and I loved that he wanted a family with Carson and is so in with her and Ava.

This was a lovely story but get the tissues because you will cry at parts of this story.

Hard Truth by Emily Goodwin

What’s worse than hating your boss? Falling in love with him….
Hard Truth, the much anticipated conclusion to Hard Place by Emily Goodwin is LIVE!

Hard Truth ebook.jpg

The first time I met Alexander Harding, I yelled at him for taking my parking spot. Rich and powerful, I saw him as nothing more than my new coldhearted boss. I hated him once but now…now things aren’t that simple. There’s a man beneath the beast, and the more I get to know him, the more I fall in love with him.

Though just as I’m able to envision a future together, the past comes back to haunt us both.

Six years ago, my life changed forever when I found out I was pregnant. The last thing I expected was to see Michael Cooper again, but now he’s here and is ready to make up for lost time. He wants to be involved in his daughters’ life. My life. And it’s making me question everything.

I never thought it was possible to be in love with two men at the same time. One from my past, and one I want in my future. My heart is completely torn in two, with each half going in a different direction. I’d give them each half if I could.

But then I would be left with nothing.

She drives air boats on the bayou, drinks and cusses, and gives city boys in suits a hard time just for fun. Why can’t he get her out of his mind? But he can’t. He definitely can’t.

A weekend trip to Savannah for a fancy-schmancy party with his highfalutin family is the surefire way to prove that they have nothing in common but intense chemistry. And to maybe scratch this I’ve-never-wanted-anyone-like-I-want-you itch once or twice. Or five times.

But it takes only about twenty-four hours for the bayou girl and the city boy to figure out that they don’t really know much at all–about each other, or about themselves. And figuring all of this out is going to be downright crazy.

Excerpt

“Good morning, Miss Landry.” “I’ve been on hold for fifteen freaking minutes, Mr. Baxter.” Bennett grinned. She’d been on hold for four minutes. He knew because he’d been watching the time on his phone. He always kept her on hold for at least a couple. But he’d known to expect her to be dramatic about it no matter how long it was. Kennedy Landry wasn’t really the patiently-wait-on-hold type of woman. Kennedy Landry was, however, the type of woman that made a man want to take what tiny semblance of control he could find and grab onto it like it was a lifeboat in the midst of a hurricane. Kennedy Landry was absolutely like a hurricane, and she’d already pulled him under and drowned him in lust and amusement and fascination and… Shit, he was half in love with her, and if the only way he had to remind her that she didn’t always have the upper hand in every single one of their interactions was to make her wait on hold on the phone for a few minutes then yeah, he’d do it. “Well, I’ve been waiting for the reports from last week since Monday,” he told her. “Seems waiting is something we should both get used to.” It was Thursday. She always made him wait until Friday for the reports she was supposed to send on Tuesday. In part because that meant he’d call her about those reports on Wednesday and they’d fight-flirt for a few minutes. Something they both enjoyed far more than really made sense. In part because her sending him the reports was ridiculous. He didn’t really need them—he was just curious—and she knew it. She hated sending the reports, but only because it meant that she was answering to him on some level. She didn’t like that because she didn’t have him wrapped around her little finger like she did every other man she dealt with on a regular basis. As far as she knew. Bennett had been very careful not to let on just how tightly wrapped he already was. “This call could be about an emergency,” she said in a bored voice that indicated: one, it was not an emergency, and two, she was trying really hard to sound bored and not like she was gritting her teeth. Bennett loved that he rubbed her the wrong way. It only took about ten minutes around Kennedy to figure out that she ran the show with the men in her life. The only daughter and granddaughter in a family of outdoorsy, hardworking, loud-cussing, Louisiana born-and-bred men, Kennedy not only kept up with them on the hardworking and cussing thing, but she got away with murder. Her oldest brother, Sawyer, tried to make her toe the line, but even he was a sap for his baby sister, and it was rare that Kennedy didn’t get her way. She knew how to handle blue-collar Cajun men, that was for sure. Bennett wasn’t a blue-collar Cajun man. Well, he was Cajun, on his mother’s side. But she’d married into money—a lot of money—very much on purpose and had long ago given up things like crawfish sucking and cursing in French. She had married into a white-collar, British-descended family in Savannah, neck-deep in politics and law and class and wealth and snobbery, while Kennedy had been neck-deep in, well, the Louisiana bayou. And everything that went along with that. Bennett loved the bayou. And everything that went along with that. Especially the sassy, goth-dressing, impossible-to-impress Cajun girl who thought that the fact he couldn’t fix a transmission, butcher an alligator, or bait a hook was downright embarrassing. “If it was an emergency, you would have hung up and called back. Over and over again. Leaving progressively more and more threatening messages about what you were going to do to me when you did finally get a hold of me,” he told her, signing off on the bottom of the letter he’d just finished and moving it to the side. “I would never do that,” she said. “No?” When she did finally send him reports, it was always in folders that were named things like I’m Not Your Fucking Secretary and If You Ask Me to Get You Coffee It Will Definitely Have Turtle Shit in It. “If I really needed your attention, I’d start texting. Photos. Naked photos.” His entire body reacted to that. He cleared his throat. “I would definitely—” “Of my grandfather.” Bennett paused. Then groaned. He knew her grandfather. Leo Landry was a great guy. Funny, down-to-earth, honest, loyal. And someone that Bennett absolutely did not ever want to see naked. Ever. “You’re an evil woman.” “Remember that.”

This book is my new favorite in the series. It features two very opposite characters. Kennedy who is very Bayou and runs the Bayou company with her brothers, and Bennett who is the big city boy who becomes a partner in the Bayou business. These two are very opposite attracts and they are so cute together that I loved every second of this story.

He wants to get her alone so he can explore their attraction and so he takes her home to Savannah and that was such a super fun trip. Kennedy saves the day and everyone falls in love with her. But Bennett wants Kennedy from the Bayou and well Kennedy grows and changes on this trip and I loved watching her grow and see her charm the folks in Savannah.

I don't want to spoil too much but I loved how much fun these two are together and I loved watching Kennedy figure out what she wants for her life and watching her constantly surprise Bennett.

This was one wonderful story and prob my most favorite story that the author has ever written. It does easily stand alone and I believe it is the last book in this series.

This was a nice story about two college almost graduates and their life after college. Alisa and Gage hooked up the previous year but he had an injury and kinda told her to leave him alone. Why? Because everyone thinks he is a rich college kid when he is really a poor college kid.

Alisa meanwhile discovered she is British royalty and has come back to school to graduate and then plans to live in England as a princess. Both end up living together with a bunch of other guys in a house Coop and Izzy own.

Yep we see a little of Izzy, Cooper, Tanner, and Riley in this book which was fantastic.

I enjoyed this story and don't want to get too much into the plot because a lot happens and the life they each think they will lead is not the one they end up with. Choices are made and futures are plotted and I highly enjoyed the surprises along the way.

This was a fun romance with some really great characters who have some hard decisions to make as they face the life after college. I loved how the author used characters from other books in this book to help out.

This is an absolute wonderful series and each book stands alone. This is the last book in the series and I am so sad its ending. The first book is definitely my favorite, the 2nd book was also a lot of fun and this book was a fun way for the series to end.

This story seemed like it would be great and I was looking forward to seeing a bunch of texting messages but it was very different than I was expecting.

Book 1 featured the playboy and black sheep, Brendan. Book 2 was the responsible, uptight CEO brother Jasper, and this book is Camden's and he is the baby brother who ran away and became a mountain man in Switzerland.

He meets a woman online and he leaves his hometown to find his online friend Daisy. He finds her very easily but he also finds out she is a single mom and he feels he should not be a dad and so he knows they can only have a fling and he does not tell her who he is. I HATED this. It felt very wrong to keep such a big thing from Cadence/Daisy.

They both end up as neighbors and work at a summer camp and that's when their romance heats up. I loved the summer camp, it was a really fun aspect of this book. I also loved seeing and catching up with the previous couples from the other books.

This is definitely not my favorite in the series but it ended the series very nicely and I enjoyed getting to know Cam.
