Miss Understanding - Miss #1 - by Aubrey Bondurant

Blurb

Liam Davenport is the most infuriating man I’ve ever known – and he’s my boss.
Worse, he’s undeniably sexy. At least until I’m subject to one of his trademark sighs of disapproval. I’m counting the days until I can walk away from this job. But first, I need to survive the trip from hell he’s dragged me on. One entire week with his arrogant smile and my unexpected naughty thoughts.

I might get fired.

He just might be worth it.

Kendall Tate is the most distracting woman I’ve ever met – and she’s my assistant.
She’s irritatingly clever, and much too nice for the likes of me. I need to remain professional, even if the smell of her strawberry lip gloss is my kryptonite. No matter how much I want her, Kendall is off limits.

Growing closer to her might be a mistake.

I might just take the risk.

Excerpt

After a hot shower, I dressed in jeans and a sweater. Looking out the window, I saw there was a good inch of snow already covering the surfaces. It reminded me of my childhood when we’d pray for a snow day so we could go sledding down the neighborhood hill instead of school. A movement shifted my gaze to the corner of the back yard. I saw a figure in olive green on the ground.
Holy shit. Kendall had fallen. I rushed down the stairs, pausing only to frantically yank on my boots before running out the back door and down the steps toward where I saw her on the ground.
I found her laughing. Was she delirious from the cold? A bump on the head?
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked.
She looked up with rosy cheeks, bright eyes, and the biggest smile I’d ever seen on her face. “Making a snow angel.”
“Why?” It was truly baffling to me.
“Because this is my first time seeing snow.”
Her purple sparkly boots peeked out from the giant parka, making me shake my head. She looked like a toddler poorly dressed for the weather in hand-me-downs.
“You’d best get up before the snow seeps through all of your clothes.”
She stuck her tongue out in response. “Go away. I’m not on the clock yet, and you’re ruining my fun.”
“I came racing down here because I thought you’d fallen.”
“Oh, yeah? Did you come out to rescue me? Or hope you could quickly hide the body?” she asked, holding out her gloved hand.
I pulled her up without much effort. I’d be surprised if her petite stature weighed more than a hundred pounds. Her grin was infectious despite my hangover. “Depends. Did you make coffee?”
Her lips twitched in a smile. “I did. I’ll even give you some. Just as soon as you help me make a snowman.”
She was adorable. And not in the toddler kind of way. The type of way that made me want her to hook her legs around my waist so I could take her against a wall.

This is my first time reading this author and I LOVED it a lot. This is a boss/employee romance with a twist I guess you can say. Liam is a lawyer and Kendall, his assistant and they both work together and he is a royal pain in the neck. He has to go home for a week before a big meeting with a clients deposition and so he takes Kendall with him.

He has not been home in many many years and so he hates going but his ass of a father is dead and so he cannot avoid it. He goes home for his mother and sisters sake, to his puny little small town.  He and Kendall end up staying in a house they rent and thats how they get to know the other on a more personal level.

The story starts out as enemies and eventually they become friends and then form an attraction. But what happens when the week ends and they go home? Well I am not spoiling that. But this was a wonderful story and I truly loved everything about it.
