The moment he divorced his ex-wife, Jeremiah decided two things.

Yet, there he is, in the middle of an interview, finding out not only was the woman he slept with the most viable applicant for a job he very much needed filled, but that she’d recently broken up with the man he loathed. The second reason he’d divorced his ex-wife. Erich. His ex-stepson.
To say life is simple for Jeremiah would be a joke of epic proportions.

This is a very dark romance. There were parts of the story I skimmed because it was a bit too dark and painful for me to read. That said it is an important part of the story and I understood why the author went in this direction. It really made me see how much in love Jermiah was with Gracie and it made this story one I will definitely remember for years to come. But this part of the story was a huge twist and one I was not expecting at all.
In this story we meet Jeremiah and Gracie. They are both introverts who love to read and they meet at a party where they both spend the evening reading.
This is an age gap romance as Jeremiah is much older (somewhere in his forty's) than Gracie (who is 29ish) and it's also a romance where boss and the employee fall for each other as Jeremiah runs a bakery and Gracie ends up as his new employee.
This was a dark romance and I loved it, though as I said some parts were too painful for me to read. Jeremiah is this awesome guy who has been hurt by his past and Gracie also has a past that has hurt her. When G and J find each other, they have this really amazing connection and so many things in common that you can tell they might fight the attraction, but they are meant to be.
