I am a big fan of the author's previous Ready Series and so when I heard about this book I was intrigued. This is the story about a man named Roman Cavanaugh who is related to Jude Cavanaugh who starred in the previous Walls Duet series. Roman is his brother. While I never read Jude's story, I totally have to now after reading this book.
This book was wonderful, amazing. Think Beauaty and the Beast. Words cannot express how I love this story. Going into the story I was pretty blind. The description doesn't even give you an idea of how wonderful the story is, so I am going to try and tell you a little more without spoiling too much.
- If you love work romances then this is a beautiful story.
- If you like grumpy pants heroes who are asses too, then you will love Roman.
- If you love heroes in love with someone who is still with another guy, then you will love this story.
- If you love country, sweet girls who fall hard for big city guys you will love this story too.
- If you want a beautiful and romantic story then you will love this story.
Roman, is a grumpy hero who everyone at his company fears. But his assistant is having a baby and she very suddenly ends up on bed rest. Thats how Cara ends up getting a job as his temp.
Roman tries hard to ignore her, alienate her, bore her but she never gives up and Cara charms him as she charmed me. She truly is why this book works, because she was that wonderful. The author has a gift and Cara was one of the best female characters I have met in a while in a book.
She dresses terribly but she loves it. She is sweet and kind and caring but she also has a wild side and her and Roman really hit it off. He is mean and grumpy but inside he is just a big mushy fellow.
He realises what a wonderful person he could be with her by his side and he does some things to get Cara that he feels terribly guilty about. When she finds out well that when this book hit all the emotional notes and took it from being fun and romantic into the WOW and just an amazing story.
Update: After falling hard for Roman, I went back and read the Walls Series and to be honest I did not love book 1. It was very painful to read but I did enjoy it by the time I was done. I continued on to book 2 and I really loved that story. I also loved how often we see the early Roman. Thats when it became apparent to me that Behind Closed Doors is the authors story about Beauty and the Beast and the Wall Series is really a modern re-telling of Rapunzel.
