Diamonds and Dirt Roads - Billionaire in Blue Jeans By Erin Nicholas

About the Book

A pretend relationship…within a pretend relationship. Attorney Evan Stone knows every crazy stipulation in billionaire Rudy Carmichael’s will. After all, he wrote it. And he’s determined to make sure each one is fully met by Rudy’s triplet daughters. Even if that means dating the workaholic CEO, Ava. Or pretending to at least. And even if it means resisting the so-right-for-him-she’s-totally-wrong party girl, Cori.

Cori’s only got three things on her to do list from her dad:
• Move to Bliss, Kansas.
• Run his pie shop with her sisters for a year.
• No dating. For six months.

But stepping in for her sister when it’s clear that Ava and Evan aren’t fooling anyone with their “romance” isn’t really dating. And falling for her sister’s pretend boyfriend while pretending to be her sister…well, that’s ridiculous. No matter how real things feel whenever she and Evan are together.

About the Author:

I've been reading romance since my mom first let me into her book cupboard when I was about fourteen. LaVyrle Spencer, Julie Garwood, Debbie Macomber... they took my 'happily ever after' ideas from animated princesses to real people in the real world.

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the story of 3 triplet sisters, Cori, Ava and Brynn. Their rich, eccentric father has died and for them to inherit at all they much follow some rules he set forth before he died. That is where the hero, Evan comes into this story. He was Rudy's lawyer and he is supposed to make the sisters follow the rules to inherit.

This is Cori's story. She is the globetrotting, anti commitment and fun triplet and her and Evan hit it off in a BIG way. But one of her conditions is no dating.

Evan has just slept with an old friend and rumors are rampant so to combat that he decides he should fake date Ava, because she is supposed to date a guy for 6 months as part of her condition.

To be honest I liked the premise of the story. But the reality was kinda hard to swallow. For one I HATE the love triangle around sisters. I find it kinda gross. Second, I did not like hearing how days before Evan slept with his old friend and their fun and games. Lastly, Evan is the one who is supposed to make sure the sisters follow the rules and he proposes this fake dating. So it did not put him in a good light.

Despite those things I did enjoy the story and that is because I loved Cori. She was a wonderful character and I really enjoyed getting to know her and her sisters. While I did not love this story, I would love to read more in this series.

Excerpt:

Is it just me or is this the most awkward date in the history of dating?” Cori asked.
“She definitely looks tense,” Brynn agreed.
“And he looks annoyed,” Cori said.
“He’s smiling,” Brynn pointed out.
Yeah, he was. But it wasn’t real. Maybe no one else in the restaurant could tell, but Cori knew that Evan was forcing it. He’d given Ava a few genuine ones too throughout their dinner. But this one was definitely fake.
“Well, you can’t really blame the guy, can you?”
Cori looked up as Noah pulled out one of the empty chairs at their table and dropped into it.
“Hey,” Brynn said, with a big grin, “what are you doing here?”
Cori wondered if Noah realized how unusual that grin was for Brynn.
“I’m here for the show, same as everyone else,” he said, reaching for a roll from the basket in the middle of their table. He pulled off a chunk and put it in his mouth.
“The show?” Cori asked.
“Evan’s first date with Ava, of course.”
Cori frowned and glanced around. “Everyone is here for that?”
He nodded as he chewed. He gestured around the room with the rest of the roll. “Ninety percent of these people are from Bliss,” he said. “And the other ten percent know Evan and all about Ava.”
“And she’s super interesting?” Cori asked.
“Well, she and Evan are super interesting,” Noah said, reaching for a cherry tomato from Brynn’s salad. Did he know that Brynn didn’t like tomatoes? “Ava is very different from Evan’s usual.”
Ugh. Evan’s usual. For some reason that made her stomach hurt. Because he had a lot of usual and because his usual women who were probably a lot like Cori. Him being with someone not like Cori was interesting to everyone. Great. Ironic that the woman so interestingly unlike Cori looked exactly like her.
“Well, he doesn’t look like he’s having a good time,” she couldn’t help but point out.
“There are two things going on over there,” Noah said, dipping the remainder of his roll in the house Italian dressing on Brynn’s salad.
Cori would be amused by how comfortable the two of them were together—if she wasn’t so unamused by her other sister and the man she was clearly uncomfortable with.
“What two things?” Brynn asked.
“One,” Noah said, “Evan has never been out with a woman he couldn’t charm before.”
“You don’t think he can charm Ava?” Cori asked.
“Can anyone truly charm Ava?” Noah asked.

About the Book

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he'd left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty--and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I'm crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that's the only reaction I can get out of you, I'll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I'm falling for you, and I know it's wrong. I know that I'm only supposed to be your adviser and nothing more, but here's the thing. I think you're falling for me too.

xo, Zach

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I LOVED this story. It was absolutely perfect. It is about a romance between a graduate student, Poppy and her grad student supervisor. Zach, is not her teacher, he just meets with her to discuss her writing and so it really was not this huge taboo type of relationship.

The bigger issues in this story is Poppy and I don't want to let too many spoilers out but let us say that Poppy is not your average college student. She has responsibilities and for most of the book it is why she hesitates with Zach and telling him her secrets.

Zach is all in but he also wants to go to NY the following year so Poppy worries how much of a future they can have, What you should know is Zach is a total sweetheart and he falls hard for Poppy. I loved that he is NOT someone who sleeps around and he sees how wonderful Poppy is right away.

I loved this book it had fun and engaging characters. I loved how romantic Zach was, and I loved how he slipped love notes in Poppy's back pack and she had to figure out who was sending it.

Truly a fun and wonderful romance I highly recommend and one I am sure I will re-read.

Excerpt:

Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel when I see Layton standing outside, wearing a large coat… and is she holding pom-poms?
After another insistent pounding on the door, I stride to it, yanking it open. “What the hell are you doing at my house? And who let you the fuck in my neighborhood?”
“I gave the guard my brother’s name and said I was taking important papers to you.”
“That’s… pretty damn smart.”
Throwing off the coat, Layton beams at me and puts her hands on her hips. “I came over to S-E-D-U-C-E you!”
My jaw drops and gets stuck to the floor. “You what?
Her brow furrows. “Did I spell seduce wrong?”
I look around, half-expecting that at any minute, someone with a camera phone will jump out at us and yell just kidding, because there's no way in hell Layton Price should be on my doorstep wearing a cheerleading outfit and shaking her pom-poms at me.
Well, she hasn't shaken them yet, but her tits are about to pop out of her top, and the skirt… the skirt leaves little to the imagination. Swear to God, with a faster turnaround, I’ll see her ass cheeks hanging out.
“You spelled it right.” I rub my jaw. “What do you want?”
She rolls her eyes. “I came here to seduce you.”
“Wearing that?” It’s not usually my thing, but…
“Should I shake my pom-poms for you first?”
Hell yes, you should. “No. Put your coat back on.” I bend over and pick it up, then place it around her shoulders. “You need to go home, LT.”
She juts out her bottom lip. “My Uber already left.”
“Not my problem.”
“Come on, Aiden,” she pleads, batting her lashes at me and letting the coat slide down her hot little body. “It’s cold outside.”
“Should have thought about that before you put,” I wave my hand at her, “that on.”
“I wore it just for you. The top’s too tight, though.” As if to torture me, she started bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. “Oh, wow. I can’t believe the girls are staying put.”
Me either. “Good for them.” I try to shut the door, but she shoves a pom-pom in at the last minute. “Damn it, LT. I said go home.”
“You can't leave me outside when it's cold like this.”
Better than me taking advantage of her like this. “I’m not a gentleman, baby girl.”
“You don't have to be a gentleman to be a decent person,” she points out. “And stop calling me baby girl. I’m neither one of those.”
She's right. “Get your ass in here. You can wait in the foyer while I get an Uber for you.”
Pushing her way in, she grins and spins around, stumbling a couple of times in the process. “What do you think of the outfit? Be honest.”

I LOVED this story. This is one of those stories where I begged the author to write it because I fell in love with Layton and Aidan in the previous book. You never know, will it live up to your imagination and it so did!!!

It starts in the middle of the previous book and while it does I also think that makes it stand alone as well. Thought I recommend you start with the first book so you really get to know Layton and Aidan. It tells the backstory on Layton and Aidan's relationship and introduces Layton's brother Kingston.

You see Aidan is Kingston's best friend and so Layton is Aidan's best friends little sister and so that is really the issue between the two. Also there is Layon's plans from when she is very little on who her future husband will be.

Anyways as we know from the previous book Layton discovers on her honeymoon she married the wrong guy. And well she has a lot of fun after torturing Aidan. And well Aiden and Layton make some magic in this book.

I really don't want to spoil anything but I LOVED this book. It was fun, sweet, romantic, broke my heart at a few points but might be the best book the author has ever written. Definitely one you do not want to miss!

Mostly.

Excerpt

“Drake Collins, I don’t see you on our appointment book today,” Seraphine says, wagging her finger at me with a twinkle in her dark brown eyes.
“That’s because I’m not. Does Azalea have time to fit me in?”
“Hmmm. Magnolia could fit you in quicker than—”
“Nah, I don’t mind the wait. How long’s it gonna be?”
“About twenty minutes.”
I turn, and make myself comfy in one of the waiting room chairs, “That’ll be just fine, Seraphine.”
She rolls her eyes at me, “I’ll let her know you’re here.”
“Totally unnecessary. It’s a surprise visit.”
Seraphine shakes her head at me, but goes back to whatever she was doing at the computer, thank God. Because I’m counting on the element of surprise to work in my favor here. If she knows I’m here, she’ll start working on getting her walls up, but if I catch her off guard, I might just catch her unguarded, if you know what I mean.
To pass the time, I play around on my phone, checking social media and shooting the shit with Simon and Cash in group text. I impress myself by only checking the time every five minutes, but my God, it really does feel like an eternity waiting on her.
I perk up when I hear the sound her sweet voice coming closer. “You have a wonderful day Mrs. Jones, and be sure to tell Seraphine to book extra time at your next appointment so that we can do those lowlights.”
She doesn’t walk far enough into the room to see me, so I stand and follow behind her to her station. She grabs the broom and starts sweeping, but jumps and throws it down when she sees me. “Holy guacamole, you scared the ba-jeezus outta me!”
I cover my smile with my fist, “I can see that.”
“What’re you doing here?”
“Need a haircut,” I tell her, claiming her chair.
She scowls her trademark scowl at me, her eyes drilling into me like lasers. “So, make an appointment.” She turns of walk away, but I reach out and snag her wrist.
“Don’t need one,” I tell her, knowing it will make her that much more irritated. I know these games are stupid, but her mad gets me so hot.
“You most certainly do,” Azalea replies, her cheeks red with anger.
“Pretty sure there’s a sign in the window that reads ‘Walk-in’s welcome’. You’re certainly not making me feel very welcome. Not at all. Which, as the owner of this establishment, you should know is bad for business.” I tsk, wagging my finger at her.
“Drake Ulysses Collins, you get your ass up right now!” Azalea hisses through clenched teeth. Her eyes are so big, they look like they might pop right on out of her head.
“Nah, don’t think so. You get your cute ass over here, and buzz my hair down.”
“No!”
“Now.” It’s a battle of wills and I’m playing to win. We remain frozen, staring one another down, until she rolls her eyes and stomps back over to me, like I knew she would. Drake, 1. Azalea, 0.
With a snap of her wrists, she has the cape draped around me. She shoots me an evil gleam, before pulling it as tight as it will go, damn near choking me. “Take it easy, Bit,” I croak, only to be whopped upside the back of my head with her comb. “What the hell?” I yell at her, but she just smiles and pops the guard she knows I like onto her clippers.
With one hand planted on the top of my head, she uses the other to move the clippers through my hair, buzzing it down in fluid movements. Azalea takes her time, dragging out my simple buzzcut because she thinks it’ll annoy me. She couldn’t be more wrong. Hell, for half the haircut, her perky C cups are all up in my face, and for the rest of it… her hands are on me, and there’s not a single thing annoying about any of that. No, I fucking love it.
“There, all done assface.”
“Assface, huh? That an invitation?”
“God! You’re so gross!”
Grasping the front of the cape with both hands, I pull until it unsnaps. Rising from the chair, I take two steps toward Azalea, effectively backing her into her station. “Gross? You think I’m gross?”  I gently run my nose up her neck, lingering just below her ear. “Naw, you don’t mean that, do you?” My voice is hoarse and low, the sound of it causes Azalea’s skin to break out in goosebumps.
“Sure do,” she fires back, but her tone—all soft with want— betrays her words.
I take a step closer, leaving not even an inch between us, “We both know you’re lying through your teeth, but that’s okay Bit. Best be glad we’re in your place of business, or I’d call your bluff.” I cover her lips with mine and tunnel my fingers into her long, blonde hair. “Or maybe I still will,” I speak the words against her lips, delighting in the feel of her rapid breaths. “Right here. Right now.” I punctuate the words with a kiss, hard and rough, before stepping back.
Azalea stands there, bracing herself against her station, almost as if she’d crumple to the floor without its support, and damn if that doesn’t make me feel like the king of the world. “Thanks for the haircut. You have a nice day, and when I call you later… answer.”

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book is tough to rate because on one hand I loved it, so much that I went back and read the previous book in the series and it was FANTASTIC. This is only the 2nd book the author has ever written and while it extremely well written, I had some issues with the characters. Largely I think it was the author trying to write out of a corner than the issue was its plot because the first book had none of the issues like this book did.

At the start of this story Azalea and Drake are in love. They have been having no string sex and both have loved each other for 15+ years (they are only in their early 20's) but they have had sex and dated lots of other people, but now they are finally single together and having occasional bouts of sex.

Drake loves Azalea but well he is a HUGE idiot. I mean HUGE. He really is the issue here, he does the stupidest things and lemme tell you at times I wanted Azalea to find a different guy because while he loves her and wants to be with her, he plays a lot of games with her and he hurts her a lot. He jumps to conclusions and he sees all the issues as Azaleas and not his and he really is the problem. Not that he doesn't love her, but that he lets pride get in his way a lot.

Azalea on the other hand has loved Drake forever. And she does not play games. I loved her courage and her honesty and she constantly puts herself out there with Drake. Does she jump to conclusions? YES! But I don't blame her at all. The things Drake does in this book to her I HATED! She is jealous of this girl Kelly, and she is 100% deserving of the jealousy and instead of understanding Drake throws her at Azalea over and over and then he does the same thing with another girl. Seriously I HATED how Drake treated Azalea. But again if they didn't have this huge failure to communicate, there would not be a book and it would be a novella but still I would much rather have seen Azalea drive Drake jealous than her constantly watching him with other women.

That said I did not love Drake. He really deserved to lose Azalea. But Azalea is this really amazing character and she is why I kept reading the book. And I really enjoyed the other characters and writing which is why I went and read the first book.

I highly recommend the first book before this story as it really introduces all the characters and is a wonderful story. If you enjoy the trials and tribulations and jealousies of first love then you will love this book but for me I got tired of the games.

  • Beyond required public displays of affection, there shall be no contact of any kind between the parties

The first half of your payment will be deposited into your account upon the signing of this contract. Be sure to note your ring size. We would like to make prompt delivery of the family emerald. The Queen and I thank you in advance for your discretion.

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is my first book by this author and well I liked it. It was not perfect, at times I felt Emily was too stupid to live but by the end of story I really loved both her and the hero, Kit.

Kit on the other hand I loved from the second he is introduced throughout the entire book.

My issues with Emily stemmed from the beginning of the story when she is a young college student. That is where she originally meets Kit and they have a one nighter but she leaves him to go back to her ex who cheated on her. Yeah as I said too stupid. Not only does she leave Kit for this ass but she marries him. And then she wonders why he was a crappy husband. As I said at times she came across as an idiot and I wanted to slap her.

Another issue I had with her is she is a working girl and has a design company. And well I did not love her choices in relation to her work. I felt she should realise at age 30 that a job will not love you and at times I felt she did not deserve such a great guy as Kit.

Kit on the otherhand he understands love and family and he understands how precious both are. He is our prince both in behavior and in reality and I really and truly loved him. He stole this entire book in that he was this amazing guy and he is deeply in love with Emily warts and all.

The story starts off with Emily in England interviewing Kit's sister when Kit realizes who she is. He and her grandmother decide he needs to get engaged and he picks Emily.

And that starts the fun. I really LOVED this story despite my issues with Emily. I could not stop reading it and I loved every second with Kit and Emily. This was a really fun and romantic story with a great lead and a not so perfect heroine.

Addicted 2 Romance Review

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I LOVED this story SO much. It is HOT and romantic and sweet and has wonderful characters. It continues this series and I would say it is book 3 in the series though it easily stands alone.

Emery and Dean are the stars in this book and they are one of my favorite couples.  Emery's friend Desiree moved to town and met Rick and fell in love. That is how Desiree met Dean who is business partners with Rick. They had a long distance friendship until now when he talks her into coming to town permanently.

She is a Yoga teacher nd is going to work for Rick and Dean teaching classes as well as her and Dean are besties. So those two things stand in her way of seeing Dean as a man to date. However Dean wants her and he will stop at nothing to have her.

Dean is the total scene stealer in this story. His passion and love for Emery was awe inspiring and Emery is a very lucky woman. He works hard to get Emery to see him but once she does, they totally belong together.

I beyond LOVED this story. It had lots of HOT burn your kindle scenes and characters I fell in love with. I am loving this entire series and cannot wait for more.
