ABOUT THE BOOK

Mason Keller is broken, destructive, and the only man I’ve ever loved.
I met him when I was just a child, but I knew there would never be anyone else.
He lit my world with each smile and warmed my heart just by looking at me.

But he was my brother’s best friend...

Which meant I was off limits.

So he let me go and took my heart with him.

Now everything has changed, and the obstacles that kept us apart all our lives are no longer in the way.

He wants to claim me.

He wants to own me.

He wants to ravage my world.

And if I’m not careful...

I just might let him.

EXCERPT

I stopped in the doorway, propping my shoulder against the jamb. Then I did what I’d done every night for the past four and a half years. I looked to that picture on her nightstand, feeling that familiar swell in my chest at the sight of it. Then I turned my gaze to her and watched as she lay on her stomach, stretched across our bed with her feet kicked up in the air while she scrawled in that old leather-bound journal I’d bought her years ago. It was something she’d done every night since we found it in a box in that storage building, taking a few minutes to herself to recount her day on paper. It was her own personal quiet time that she loved, and I always made sure to give her the privacy she needed to do it. As if sensing my presence, she turned her head and hit me with a beaming smile. “Hey.” “Hey, baby. Am I interrupting?” “Nope,” she answered, using the ribbon to mark her page and flipping the journal closed. “All done. Will go down okay?” “Out like a light.” She bit her bottom lip and lowered her eyelids to half-mast as she pushed up and sat back on her haunches. The pale purple nightie she was wearing teased at all the beauty that lay beneath. “Perfect, ’cause I’m in the mood to play.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That's why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy--she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she's also a wino, coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books--romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it's a passion...there's a difference. Not that she'd expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

This is the final book for the rock star band and it ends wonderfully and ties up all the loose ends. This is Mace/Mason and Lyla's story and it starts in the beginning of their relationship. The two grow up together with Will and Lyla being brother and sister and Mace the best friend to Will.

Mace and Lyla fall in love young but he breaks her heart and she moves on to the man that she eventually marries. To be honest Mace is an idiot and he betrays her in a way I was so happy she moves on. But as the years go by, Mace falls harder and hurts a lot as Lyla moves in and even marries another man. To comfort himself he turns to alcohol.

Lyla meanwhile ends up in a bad marriage. And even an abusive relationship. At one point it gets really bad and I want to warn any readers that there was one scene which was hard to read as I really loved Lyla. That said she leaves her husband and ends up back home, single and living with Will, when a tradegy occurs.

None of these are spoilers as the story has played out in all the books in the series and Will's death effected all of them. Not as it does Mace and Lyla and let me tell you Lyla is one tough cookie. She has had a hard life and she is one big fighter, I am not sure I would have made it like she did. So be ready for lots of angyst in this book.

After Will's death Mace spirals to the point that the band calls in Lyla to help Mace and that is when the story takes off. I loved that Mace has to work hard for himself and Lyla helps him find a way to solve his own problems while supporting him and he has to learn to do the same thing.

These two always had love but they really have to learn how to love and how to forgive the past. This was a really amazing finish to the series and I truly loved every minute of it.

I have read this entire series and I really encourage you to read the whole series as some things you might not understand if you don't start at the first book. But that said this story goes through Mace and Lyla's past as if you are experiencing it, both the past and the  now and so it also easily stands alone.
