This is book 3 in the series. I read book 1 only and did not read book 2. It easily can stand alone. It is  an enemies to lovers, 2nd chance romance about two people who are still in love after a high school romance goes wrong, and Emmett is a NHL hockey player on vacation during the summer. It can be categorized as a sports romance but there is very little sports/team in it.

Emmett  and Avery fell in love at first sight in high school and wanted to be together forever. BUT Avery had many secrets and some of them come out at a grad night party and Emmett loses faith in her and believes she cheated on him so he dumps her and runs away.

Four years later the two come together during the summer as their friends rent a summer house and Avery and Emmett end up joining them. It is time these two confront their mistakes from the past and find closure and let the other one in.

I highly enjoyed this story and loved learning more about what happened that night and what the future held for both if them. The author did an amazing job with these characters and the storyline. I cannot wait for the next story in this series.
