Fearless King - #4 Kings of Rittenhouse Series - Maya Hughes

Blurb

My first crush. My first heartbreak. My brother’s best friend.

The butterflies in my stomach turned into full blown eagles the second our lips touched. A kiss under the stars that changed our relationship forever.

After a lifetime of wishing, I stared up into Ford’s eyes with his fingers caressing my cheek and my heart racing.

The evening ended with my heart bleeding on the ballroom floor.

He destroyed my heart two years ago...but now he wants back in my life.

This time I won’t fall under his spell. I’ll resist his sexy, scruffy beard, and panty-melting smirk.

I thought I was over him. Hell, I fully planned to wave to him through my rearview mirror...but with one text, in the middle of the night, I know I'm in over my head.

Ford: I need you.

I just finished this story and wow you can tell how the author poured her heart into this story.

This is Ford and Olivia/Liv's story. Liv is the sister of Colm and also the bestie of Ford's though they had a falling out several years back but no one knows what happened.

Technically this story can stand alone, however their are a lot of side characters and well if you have not read the authors stories before I think I would be lost. But Ford and Liv have not been seen that much in the series, so aside from all the side characters this story does stand alone.

Ford is kinda screwed in this story and he has more than being Colm's bestie who kinda screwed up with Colm before, but also his brother also has a major thing for Olivia so he has a huge wall between him and Liv.

Olivia has no idea about how Ford feels for her. But the two decide to start off as friends and I loved how that's how they get started. However both of them are very into the other and so things get very complicated fast.

This is a fun and amazing story. I can tell the author absolutely loves the characters and has created a story filled with love, lust and angyst.

The First Intermission - Indianapolis Eagles #6- by Samantha Lind

Blurb

The core group of friends who found their happy endings are back, still loving hockey almost as much as their women. Now, four years later, the Eagles find themselves in the finals, with home ice advantage and on the cusp of winning the Stanley Cup once again.

It all started with a second chance, for Becca to just say yes to forever.

And is Kinley still living the dream after scoring the player?

What does life have in store for Madison and Richard, now that they decided playing for keeps is much more satisfying than friends with benefits.

When Mark vowed to Laura he would protect her heart, he meant it from the very beginning. He was all-in, forever, no matter what.

Reese and Austin’s chance meeting turned their worlds upside down in a single instant. Hot and heavy against the boards had their chemistry melting the ice.

Along with retirements, new positions, and additions to not only the team, but each of the families, come meet some new players who will lead us out of the First Intermission and into the second period.

This was a very fun story for fan of this series. It is titled Book 6 in the series but its really 5.5 as it connects between book 5 and book 7 which will be out in the Fall of 2019. You must read books 1-5 or you will be so lost in this story.

Even though I have read all the books at times I had to remind myself which story they came from. This story features all the characters 4 years after Reese and Austin's story ends and we catch up to all the couples with their trials, successes and where they are in relation to their family life and their jobs.

It stars 7 couples, each from books 1-5
Becca and Scott
Kinley and Brian
Madison and Richard
Laura and Mark
Reese and Austin

But it also adds some new characters Bridget and Matt, Matt is coach on the Eagles Hockey team and Bridget is his wife. They are an older couple who have been married since they were 20 and they have a daughter Julia who is 22 and a Physical therapist. Matt asks Julia to check over his new goalie, Beckett who is also 22 who has a minor injury and they are the 7th couple. Nothing much happens for B and J yet, but they are the featured couple in book 7.

This was an awesome read. It reminded me why I love this series so much and I got to see how my favorite couples are doing. But it also got me very excited about book 7.

I was back in Brooklet Georgia and things were far from how they were when I left years ago.

Maddison used to be one of the guys, but that was definitely not the case anymore...

She had changed and damn if it didn’t make my heart race. With each passing second she began to consume me. Her smile made my knees weak and the way she looked at me took my breath away.

She captivated me, but she was forbidden. She was the one girl I had no right to crave.

Things became messy, and fast, but to hell with the consequences...she was worth it.

MEET THE AUTHOR:
C.A. Harms is an avid romance and mystery reader. She's always had a love for books, getting lost in writing and storytelling even as a young girl. She enjoys happy endings and HEA love stories.

She lives in Illinois and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She holds an addiction for Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha’s and KitKat when she should really be focusing on water and maybe a fruit or two to make herself feel less guilty, but that feeling quickly passes...thankfully.

She is easy going, fun, and although she may seem like one of the quiet ones at first, you just wait until she gets to know you better...that quietness changes, fast.
Before I begin I want to say that this story was so awesome At times I wanted to throw my kindle as I got a little frustrated with the female lead, Maddison as she tries hard to fight her feelings about her adopted cousin Mike. At a point she even dates another guy but luckily that ends fairly fast and we don't see that much of that part of the story.

Mike is the male lead and he was absolutely awesome. At the start of the story he is in the military but he gets out and comes home and that is when he starts to have deep feelings for his  adopted cousin, Maddison and where the story really starts.

Mike falls very hard and very fast and he chases Maddison but Maddison fights hard because of the cousin relationship. I understood where she came from but at times it also frustrated me. When the two finally get together and I loved how Mike fought for Maddison even as she tried to throw her best friend Raven at him, that's when I fell in love with this story.

It is not all roses for these two, as something very life changing happens before the book ends and that really made it the awesome book it was and wonderful story. Be forewarned you might shed a few tears along the way.

This was a fun story with sorta a Romeo and Juliet feel to it. It I a full story but it is more novella length. It stars London, who is the billionaire's daughter. We have read her brothers stories though this book stands alone, but they are seen in this story as well.

She meets Sawyer Taggart but her father hates his father, what she doesn't know is that Sawyer hates his father even more. But her family is very opposed to her dating Sawyer, that's where the modern Romeo and Juliet comes into play.

She avoids Sawyer and he chases her and well you can guess what happens....But what a fun way to go. This is well written and and I really enjoyed the characters and writing. I loved watching the evil dad get what's coming to him.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Alexander “Rush” Markov has been given an ultimatum by his team—shape up or ship out. Alex is celebrating his biggest season in professional hockey, and he’s enjoying every minute of it—perhaps a little too much. He’s been non-stop partying like a rockstar since his team won it all, and management isn’t pleased.

Next thing Alex knows, he’s been exiled to a remote island with orders to lay low, stay out of trouble, and avoid one-night stands. Rosalind Newcomb is the quintessential good girl, and she’s fine with her role. Sure, she gets lonely and wishes for a special someone, but the choices on Madrona island are slim to none.

When a panty-melting mystery man disrupts the peace and quiet in her bookstore, it’s dislike at first sight. The infuriating man turns her ordered life upside down and inside out and has her thinking about hot summer nights and tangled sheets. Only Alex isn’t who she thinks he is, and love isn’t all hearts and roses.

As Alex battles who he pretends to be and who he really is, he also resists falling in love for the first time in his life. His intense feelings have him ready to bolt, and only he can decide if love is worth fighting for.

This book was pretty darn wonderful. It took me about 30% to fall in love with the two main characters Rosalind and Alex but once I did I was absolutely addicted to their story.

This is a story continuing the Sockeye's Legacy. We see a bit of Ice and some other older characters who are trying to help Alex out. Alex is a Russian player and this takes place after they have won the "you know what" if you are reading this series.

Alex is a very BAD boy in every sense of the word. He has no family so no one really tells him to grow up. That is until the team tells him they need him to grow up and send him of to Madrony Island to get his head on straight.

There he meets very good girl Rosalind. And she hates him on sight. In fact she throws him out of her book store. But Alex kinda loves that about her and he is bored so he decides to get to know her. She is very straight and rigid and that was why at first I did not love her. But as she gets to know Alex she bends a little and that's where I fell in love with her and Alex as a couple.

This is a sweet romance and HOT as only this author can write. But it also very romantic and sweet. Very little hockey is included as its the off season but it does bring older characters back and I loved seeing them again.

The Difference by Kaylee Ryan

Title: The Difference
Author: Kaylee Ryan
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: May 20, 2019

Blurb

I’ve kissed a lot of frogs, just to be covered in warts.  I’ve been lied to, cheated on, and used more times than I can count.  I don’t have it in me to keep going.  I need a break from it all.  I need time for the wounds to heal, and the scars to fade.

Wouldn’t you know it’s my luck, to meet a gorgeous man, after declaring my self-imposed break? He’s charming, sexy, and determined to change my mind.

I wasn’t looking for her, but when I overheard her conversation, I had to add my two cents. Within minutes of talking to her, I knew she was unlike anyone I’d ever met.  Bruised from past relationships, she’s built a fort around her heart. Doesn’t she know the prince always rescues the princess?

I think about her all the time.  The more I’m around her, the more I want to be.  I’ve made my choice.  It’s her. Now, all I have to do is prove to her that I’m the difference.

This was a really fun story with a lot of romance and sweetness thrown into it. Lucas and Addison meet one night in a bar when their two best friends find each other and fall for the other. As the besties they become really great friends. However Addy has a very sad love history and so she does not want love, romance, a boyfriend and so Lucas gets friendzoned.

That was my favorite part of the book they become real friends and though Addy knows he wants more they get close as friends and he wants to show her that he is the difference between all the jerks of her past and the guy that really cares about her.

This is a 2nd chance at love, and a besties who fall in love and it absolutely worked wonderfully. I loved every second of the story and was only sorry it ended.

Royal Catch - The Rourkes #1 - by Kylie Gilmore

Blurb

A gruff prince in need of a wife
A commoner impersonating a princess
And a bridal competition gone terribly awry…

Gabriel
I am the crown prince of Villroy, heir to a kingdom, bound by duty to marry and produce an heir.
I expected a quiet arrangement through royal channels, instead I got a palace full of women vying for my hand. And how do they “win” this barbaric game set up by my crafty mother? By figuring out how to save the kingdom’s faltering economy through a series of challenges. This undignified circus is beneath a man of my stature! Proof being that a saucy, ill-mannered woman wearing body-hugging clothes is in the lead. I could never love someone like that, let alone marry her.

Anna
The plan sounded simple.
I pose as my friend, pick up her inheritance, and return with the cash to keep her out of jail. (Apparently, being a princess in hiding is no excuse for identity theft.) So, yeah, I’m not exactly royal. I’m an orphan, a self-made woman, and proud of it. Suddenly I’m in a battle royale with a bunch of crazy competitive women for “riches beyond our dreams.” I’m in a time crunch, which means I need to win this competition fast. Only, that means winning over the judge; the smoldering hot grim-faced Gabriel. And now I find myself wanting to compete for more than just the money. But could a royal prince ever fall for a commoner like me?

This was a very different book than I have read from this author before. It is a cross between survivor and the bachelor but with a royalty slant. Prince Gabriel is going to be king and his sick father and th queen invite a bunch of princeses so he can pick his new bride/queen.

Anne is NOT royalty but she is good friends with a princess, princess Polly who needs her to win the prize so she can use the money to defend her against some fraud charges. So Anne pretends to be Polly for most of the book and meets hot and sexy prince Gabriel and has lotsa shenanigans with him.

But she is no princess even if the prince really likes her a lot. Who will he choose Polly or the queens top contender?

This was definitely an original take on the whole royalty romance trope. It really was not my thing. I don't tend to like romances when there is a reality show trope used  and while this one was for the king and queen and not for the masses I found the trope silly.

While I did not love that aspect of the story I did enjoy the characters, even the king and queen and especially Gabriel and Polly. The characters really saved this story and I really enjoyed this royalty romance.
