Dare You to Lie by Mina Cole is now live!
ABOUT THE BOOK
The people of Oak Springs nicknamed me Grumpy Sheriff thanks to my permanent scowl. Which has only grown with my mom hounding me to settle down and my best friend hoping I'll find love on a dating app. When an opportunity presents itself to get them off my back, I leap without thinking.
Katerina Cooper needs a date to a charity gala. Accompanying her will solve both of our problems. One night. That's it. Then I can return to my quiet life and be free of the pressures to find a wife. Or so I thought.
Now the town is buzzing about us, we're lying to our parents and friends, and Kat has moved into my space. No matter how much I grump and grumble, she doesn't seem bothered. She's sunshine on a rainy day, and makes me feel things I'm not ready for.
Falling for her would be a disaster. But with each touch, I forget we're pretending. I have to remind myself this is temporary. No matter how much I want her, Kat can never be mine.

As a whole I LOVED this book. For me if I was going to break this book into parts I would separate it into two books. It's a fake romance/engagement romance between two people who know each other because they share friends but who don't get along.
The first part of the book is what I would call the buildup to the fake romance and engagement, and it would include the fake relationship. This was the best part of the story. Kat and Sid know each other but are more acquaintances than friends. More like they just share common friends and are friends with her sister and include her because she is a sister of their friend.
Kat came to town two years before the story begins because her sister moved there. She has a difficult relationship with her sister and parents. Sid also has a complicated relationship with his parents and brothers. They start the fake romance to get their families off their backs and it kinda snowballs from there. I adored watching Sid and Kat find out how awesome they are because they prob would have never gotten to know each other without the fake romance.
As the story progresses things get VERY complicated based on this lie they have told their families, friends and entire town. The way that the lie is exposed by Sid was beyond awful and I would have never ever forgiven Sid if he did to Kat to me. He betrayed her in the absolute worst way and when he did that, I HATED him so much. Up to this point I loved Sid and thought he was awesome, and I loved this story so much. But what he did was one of the worst things I have seen a character do to someone he likes/loves.
When he finally sees what he did he apologizes, and this is why I loved this book so much. Kat does not forgive him so easily. She makes him sweat and suffer and work hard to earn her forgiveness. As I mentioned I would have never forgiven him or even spoke to him again, but Kat is more forgiving than me and for that I totally respect her a lot.
As a whole I really enjoyed this story. I am not sure I will ever forgive Sid what he did but I loved Kat and how strong and resolute she is. And I adored how she made him suffer.
