This is Penny and Knights story, and it easily stands alone. He is Abby's brother and was/is in the military. Abby has a friend named Penny and when her and Knight met, it did not go well. 

Knight is back from his last mission where he survived horrible torture for six months. His family and friends were very upset and worried. So, when he finally comes home, they rejoice but he is not the same man who left. The only one who seems to calm and center him is his sister's friend, Penny.

Penny has a mother she is trying to support and when she loses her job she has no idea how she can afford it. Thats when Abby suggests that she go to work for Knight at the family business. 

Knight needs to get married so he can run the family business the way he wants. But he is a huge mess after what he suffers. So, he tasks Penny with helping him find a bride. 

This story really reminded me of the fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. Knight is the Beast and Penny is the only one he allows in. But he is very opposite her. She is good and pure and the light, he is very dark and tortured. Will he allow her light in or will he just hurt her? 

This book was phenomenal. It's a very long book, over 70 chapters, but it went by so fast, I could not put this book down. I adored and loved Penny as she tries to bring out the very best in her Knight. And I loved how Knight could not resist her big heart.
