BEFORE WE FALL by Aurora Rose Reynolds (Tucker and Miranda)

 ABOUT THE BOOK

Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.
Before they fall, these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

“Who is she?”

“Who’s who?” Miles asks, joining us.

“I’m asking him who the woman was he was with at the bar,” Dalton answers.

“That’s Bowie’s wife,” Miles mutters, and I take my eyes off Willow and Clay, who are slow dancing, to glare at him. “What? I saw you with her.”

“You’re fucking with me.” Dalton leans past me to look at Miles. “The wife of the dude Naomie was fucking?”

“One and the same.” Miles grins, and I pick up my beer, shaking my head at the two of them.

“What the fuck?” Dalton elbows me.”

“What the fuck nothing. She’s Bowie’s ex. We connected over the fact that our exes were having an affair, and that’s all,” I say low, hoping to end this.

“I saw you with her, bro. Lie to yourself if you want, but that’s not why you connected with her,” Miles says, then adds, “And if the woman wearing my ring had an affair, the last person I’d be getting cozy with is the wife of the man she cheated on me with.”

“She’s his ex-wife,” I bite out. “And you and I aren’t the same.”

“I know, because I don’t lie to myself.”

Brought to you by:

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book in a new series about a bunch of brothers who are all adopted together and years later find love. It is heavily connected to Until Willow and I highly suggest that you read that book first, though this book can prob stand alone as well.

As I read this book I needed to make a chart with who was who and who was connected to who. So before I talk about the book I wanted to share the info I gathered before I read this story.

The 4 brothers in this book are Dayton, Clay, Miles and Tucker. They also had a sister, Arya but she is dead and her death impacted all of the brothers as you will read about in this story.

Dayton is single and has a best friend named Grace. But he is very much a never settle down guy with lots of hookups. He is also a lawyer.

Clay is a cop, and he is the one whose story is told in Until Willow, and he ends up in a committed relationship with Willow. He and Willow are seen often in this story.

Then we have Miles and lets call him very complicated. He has a young daughter named Winter. Winter's mother is Hazel who lives in Colorado and she is FBI and she married a lawyer. She visits often but Miles has legal custody of Winter and they are good friends. Miles is single in this story but its mentioned that he likes Leah who is a nurse/dr and is Willow's best friend. He also works with his brother Tucker who is an FBI agent too.

And finally the last brother is Tucker and this book is about him. The start of this book coincides with parts of Until Willow. So if you read that book, this is his story and its a wonderful story. In Until Willow and the start of this book he is married to Naomi who is having an affair with Bowie who is a cop.

Bowie's wife is Miranda and she finds a bunch of texts on her husbands computer and finds out he is having an affair. She lets Tucker know and this has happened already in Until Willow but here we get her POV and we get all the details from her and how it affects things with Tucker.

And she is one strong heroine. Her father cheated on her mother and so even though when she finds out she knows it will be a hard road for her to travel, she knows she cannot take having a cheating husband. She is the heroine in this story. I adored her so much. She with her best friend Emma, face the future. She goes from being a stay at home mom to getting a job, getting her son into daycare and finding a new place to live. She does this all with care and kindness and such strength I was so impressed.

Tucker was a man who made a huge mistake when he married Naomi. He knows it, his brothers know it and he is biding his time and waiting for Miranda to get things going before he kicks his then wife to the curb. I loved him so much. He is a very strong man who made a mistake and instead of him being miserable and being bitter, he accepts it and moves on. He also admires Miranda because she shared the info with him, and she is such a strong woman in how she deals with the cheating exes. I loved him just as much as I loved Miranda.

There is a case that Miles and Tucker work on in this story. Its about a teen girl that was murdered. The friend of this girl ends up living in the same place as Miranda and Miles and Tucker ask her some questions. This aspect of the story was not the focal point of the story but if you are sensitive to this type of crime, well I want to warn you about it without giving out any spoilers.

I am really loving this series. This is a second chance romance for both Miranda and Tucker. While it's a first chance for them, it's their second chance at finding love and it was absolutely awesome and I loved it so much. I cannot wait to read more about the brothers and see who the author pairs them with.
