This is book 2 in the Lake Starlight series.This is Lance and Kenzie's story, and it was very much a second chance romance. It's also "it's very complicated story."
Kenzie and Lance were in love and dated from age 15-18. But when they went off to college they broke up. Instead of getting back together after college, Kenzie made a mistake in her misery, and she never returned to Lance or Alaska again. But its where she grew up and where she wants to get married.
Now she is engaged, and she sees Lance in NYC and she thinks it will be awesome to get married in Alaska, her hometown. Lance even gets her a spot at his family's hotel. But the Alaska community is not happy to see her. They are upset how she broke poor Lance's heart. And his parents decide that he should help her plan the wedding at the family hotel.
And thats when the fireworks begin. There are lots and lots of feelings. Things that both parties never got over and as Kenzie is about to get married and start a new life, she needs to confront them. Can she and Lance move past them or are they too painful?
The authors did an amazing job with this story, and I loved how Wyatt and his runaway bride spend time with Lance and Kenzie and help them explore their feelings about their shared past and the mistakes that happened.
Some things to know about this book. Kenzie is Filipino and I was fascinated with the ways she was able to add her culture into her wedding. There is no cheating in this book at any point in time. This book I felt was a bit more angsty than I have read by the author before, but it gave this story a little something extra and I loved it.
