The Story
Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke
Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.
Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.
Addicted 2 Romance Review:
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book is a really great story. Not a shock as I have enjoyed alot of Sawyer Bennett books but this one was a little different than her usual stories. For one it is very Hollywood. The story starts in Hollywood at an movie premier for the heroines fiancee, Brad where we find out like Eden does that he had an affair with his married co-star. Dumping him and wanting to get away Eden drives to her East Coast town of Newberry where she thinks she owns a house her grandmother left her.
That is when she meets up with Cooper, her high school boyfriend who now owns the house too with her and they fight over who gets which room. Which while juvenile was kinda fun. She also discovers the town HATES her with a passion. The only one willing to talk to her is the former fat girl Missy. And to make matters worse Cooper is having a fling with mean girl Ashley.
The author tortures poor Eden and she hits rock bottom. And that is when the story gets great. This story has LOTS and LOTS of hot sex. LOTS. If you don't like pages of sex well then this is not the book for you. But we also get to see Eden and Cooper fall for the other. But the issues that split them up after high school still exist. Can the more mature adults make it work? And that really is the question in this book. Can we go home again?
For me I did not like the first 30% of the book. We see Cooper and Ashley together and we see Brad and Eden together and I did not like that. I did love Cooper and Eden's antics as they battle it out for the master bedroom in their house. And I loved how hot the story was. I loved Missy and how she helps Eden out and they become good friends. And Cooper and Eden really were great together. I was 100% rooting for them to be a couple throughout the end of the story.
