His Forever by Aria Cole & Mila Crawford

Mitchell Holden was Hollywood's it man. Everyone wanted a piece of him.

He was living the life and riding high on success until a late night phone call sent his world spinning.

Mitch played characters that became cult classics with ease,

but the one role he wasn't ready for was playing the part of father to a kid who wasn’t even his.

Anna O'Rourke would do anything for children in need. She'd dedicated her life to helping kids in the system.

Her once in a lifetime assignment isn't what she expected.

The Jane Doe baby she's been assigned to might just be related to Hollywood's leading man.

Becoming overnight parents isn't easy for anyone, not even a seasoned social worker or a man who's got the world at his fingertips.

Anna and Mitch come from two different worlds, but find common ground in the little girl they both love.
Mitch

I liked it better when you couldn’t get Wi-Fi in the air. Now even on a transatlantic flight to Japan, I can’t escape my agent. She’s like a goddamned predator in Hollywood. Not that I’m complaining about the roles she gets me or the price she has me command, but sometimes a guy just needs a little downtime——like seventeen hours to catch some desperately needed z’s.

Mitchell Holden, pick up your phone!

I toss the latest iPhone onto the empty seat behind me and ring the call button for some Scotch. The seat reclines all the way into a bed, and I let it go all the way back, despite just having ordered a drink. Press junkets make me crazy—a whirlwind trip to every international hub in less than a week. I just want it over and done with, and I don’t care that Marina Ovard wants to brief me on who will be meeting me for press or interviewing me after the screening. I wish I had an assistant, someone to pick up the slack. I guess it’s Marina’s job, but she drives me crazy with her hounding. Maybe what I need is a body double.

******

I tear the sleep mask from my eyes as the jet bounces down in Tokyo. I sit up with a smile and feel proud of myself for squeezing in so much shuteye. After freshening up in the bathroom, I retrieve my phone. Ten thousand missed texts from Marina—as is to be expected.

Your arrival has been leaked. Expect pandemonium at Haneda.

FML, I text back to her.

Now I’ve got to muster a ten-million-dollar smile because my deplaning will be all over the news. The premiere isn’t until tomorrow, so maybe I can catch some downtime at the hotel before nonstop interviews and appearances until we leave for Australia tomorrow night.

Holden, this film could have been a catastrophe without the right names attached. Misty will meet you at the theater. Please try to act like you like her—it sells more tickets!

Act like I like Misty Ford. Piece of fucking cake. Even though her voice grates on me and her insipid smile makes me feel dubious about whether or not there’s a brain in her head. I don’t care that she modeled for Victoria’s Secret or scores cosmetics deals with higher price tags than most professional athletes. She’s a vacant shell who can’t even have a decent conversation about food, or feminism, or politics—the woman is the definition of an airhead.

I wonder if all the dudes in garages and basements and bachelor pads across America would take down their posters of her in a bikini if they could just have a conversation with her. Probably none of them. I’ll take a woman who is interesting and has more to lean on than a pretty face over a hot piece of ass any day.

But Marina likes me to play nice, to pretend I’m hanging on every word Misty says. “Put a hand on the small of her back as you walk toward the interview. Whisper something cute in her ear so she blushes on camera.” Sometimes I feel like my whole fucking life is orchestrated by Marina Ovard. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining. Thank God for Marina, and thank God for my career. A lot of people run away to Hollywood, praying for the technicolor dream—very few of them actually ever make a living off their craft. Most people end up selling out, especially the people who come from my kind of background.

My mother died when I was four and my little sister Karina was just two. But I’m grateful for that too because at least she didn’t have to sit around and watch my dad deteriorate. Witness him going from a successful farmer to an alcoholic as the fields dried up. Our house went from quaint and cozy when my mother was alive to derelict and downright hazardous by the time I was in high school. I tried my best to look out for both of them, I really did, but Dad drank away every check until, eventually, we even lost the shitty house I grew up in.

As for Karina, she was a mess by the ninth grade. It’s a wonder the authorities didn’t take her in, considering she ran away as much as she did. I got a full-time job the second I graduated high school. We were living in a low-income apartment complex by that time. It looked like a strip mall—laundromat and liquor store just steps from the front door. At least my father wasn’t driving anymore. When I moved to LA, I promised Karina and my dad I’d come back for them as soon as I could. Problem was, by the time I got enough cash saved working as a stunt double, Karina was gone.

I sent dear old Dad a check every month, more than enough to move out of the dump. But by that time, the man was a zombie. The alcohol had gotten to his brain and affected his cognition. He just wanted to drink—to die in his chair with his bourbon and bad television.

I’d tried begging him to go to rehab, and he’d looked at me like I was crazy.

“Son, California done went and turned you into a fruit! What am I gonna do? Play guitar in front of the fire with those folks? Drinking health smoothies? I’d rather shoot myself in the foot than go to your camp.”

“Great, because that’s essentially what you’re doing, Dad. Karina isn’t coming back. Neither is Mom. This is your last chance to make something of this life. I already paid the down payment for your spot.”

“I’m not gonna go sing ‘Kumbaya’ with a bunch of addicts. That’s what got your sister so screwed up. Those pills are the devil’s work.”

My dad sure had a disparaging opinion about addicts for being one himself. He stayed in Kentucky no matter how hard I tried to persuade him to reach for something else.

Karina was another matter. As soon as I had the money, I hired a private investigator to look for her. The leads were few and far between, and the detective told me it’s nearly impossible to find those who don’t want to be found. She was off the grid. Addicts didn’t leave behind paper trails.

So I trudged on ahead, working flick after flick and making more than enough to get by as a stunt double. That all changed when I walked on set to film my first stand-in as Milan Chamberlain’s body double. Chamberlain was an established star. He lorded over Hollywood blockbusters like no one else, and me, Mitch Holden…well, let’s just say that I wasn’t the first to notice we looked more than a little bit alike. Marina was his agent. It was the first time I’d met her on set. She was a fucking cyclone and wouldn’t take less than a hundred and ten percent. She liked my work ethic, Kentucky boy through and through.

“You know, you’ve got more charisma than Chamberlin. That boy’s swagger is painted on in makeup, but I know the real deal when I see it. You’ve got star power, kid, trust me.”

I really didn’t trust her. She was one of those Hollywood powerhouses who would bulldoze through delicate situations. But by wrap time, she was drawing up a contract, having me come in for screen tests, and getting me new headshots.

The rest is history. I skyrocketed to fame in less than a year, scoring the roles Chamberlain had originated and making bigger bank for the same superhero franchises. From that December to the following April, I became a household name. Everyone wants fame, but no one talks about the stress of it. Every second of my life was micromanaged, and I jumped when they said jump. After I bought my first house in Los Feliz, I put all of my money into finding my sister Karina and getting my dad some help. You better believe I had skeletons in my closet that Marina hid from the public. I was a leading man, and showing the stains of my past, Marina assured me, could blow my future before it even started.

Mila Crawford

Mila Crawford is a book lover and has been around them one way or another her whole life. She is a fan of happily ever afters, sassy heroines, over the top alphas, and most of all safe reads.

This is my first time reading these two authors and wow color me very impressed. This is a wonderful story and I loved every minute of it. It features two main characters that are sweet, romantic and pretty darned awesome and was a wonderful story.

The hero of the story is Mitch, he is Hollywood's leading man but he is also is very sad over not knowing where his 19 year old sister is.

Anna is our heroine and she is a kick ass social worker. She enters Mitch's life when his baby sister dies and leaves newborn baby behind. Mitch hires her to become a nanny and that's how they get to know each other.

This was a wonderful, sweet and romantic story. It is novella size and is a perfect beach or pool read.

I only had two complaints. One is Anna is a size 16 and she harps on her weight a lot being a size 16 and not super skinny. Too much at times for my personal taste. Mitch and all other men find her very hot she has a body image issue. The second issue was that the story has two prologues. One 2 years after the story ends and another 15 years after that. But the baby April is now older than her mother was when she died, and the dates of the prologues didn't work with that. Beyond those two issues the story was awesome.

I loved this story so much. At the end of the last book we meet Gareth and see his meet with December and this story picks right off at that the twos first meeting. The big issue at first in this story is that December's sister sees Gareth first and claims him and so December doesn't want him to come between her and her sister.

However add a little wine and a lot of drinks and well December goes home with him and makes some errors. Gareth makes so errors too and it takes some time for these two to figure things out.

Gareth is a new character and was introduced in the last book and he is a single dad who lives across the street from Harmony. He has two sons who are so great and who really add to this wonderful story. The two sons are Mitchell and Max and they steal this story they are so awesome. Mitchell was my favorite.

Gareth does have an evil ex but I love how Gareth and Mitchell deal with her and how December stands by her man. Gareth and December are super adorable together and I loved them both together. This was an awesome read and there were some things I adored about this book.

1. We see the Maysons and we get lots of family time where they love pumping December for info
2. I loved that December is a teacher and she has a prior relationship with Mitchell
3. I loved that December says I am a Mayson and we can deal with Drama
4. I loved when the December makes jokes about how they all end up falling for someone and then end up having someone in danger or kidnapped.

This is a sweet, fun and romantic read and I felt it was very different than the other books in the series as there is no insta love. D and Gareth fall in love slowly as they get to know the other.

THIS IS WILD by Natasha Madison

Viktor
My parents told me I skated before I walked. When I was eighteen I was drafted into the N.H.L third overall, playing in Los Angeles—the city of dreams. What more could I ask for? I played hard, but eventually, I partied even harder. Five years later I was traded a week after I entered rehab. There was no time for anything except my health and making sure I’d come out on top. I had to be better. There wasn’t another option.
One of the rules of recovery was ‘don’t fall in love’ and I made it a top priority. She was off limits in every single way.
Until it was too late

Zoe
When you grow up surrounded by hockey players you know one thing for sure, I was never going to settle down with one. Heck, I didn’t even know what icing was. I was too busy climbing the corporate ladder, becoming one of the most successful realtors in New York City. I wasn’t interested in dating or anything that got in my way.
First, he was my client and then he became my friend.
One night, one decision, one act can derail everything.
When push comes to shove, I’m only certain that, This is Wild.

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

This story was simply amazing. Its my second favorite that the author has ever written and I have read every book she has written and am a major fan. This story had everything, romance, friendship, tears, scary moments and love and family.

Viktor is an addict who is just getting out of rehab and he has been traded to Matthew and Max's team. He is a very good hockey player but not such a great person and Viktor wants to change. But sometimes life gets in the way of way and even love.

He meets Zoe when Matthew asks her to help him find a home and that's how the two form a friendship. They both agree to just be friends and that is what happens for a majority of the book. This book is unusual in that it is a very slow burn. Most of this authors previous books have lots and hots of hot scenes and this book is much tamer for most of it and very slow burn.

The author really gets into Viktors head and we really feel his and Zoe's pain. This story also has ALOT of Evan and Zara and I loved that so much about this story. While it can stand alone you will really want to read the previous book in the series so you know Zara and Evan and Zoe's relationship. It is extremely rare and wonderful.

In this story we see all the characters from previous books and I loved that so much. A newbie to this series might be a little lost with all the different characters, their names and relationships. This was wonderfully written and I loved every second of it.

The Tip-Off by Rebecca Jenshak

🔥🔥 The highly-anticipated third book in the Smart Jocks series is LIVE! Gabby and Zeke's story is finally here!!! One-click today! 🔥🔥

I’ve spent years hiding in the shadows.
He’s spent his whole life chasing the bright lights of the NBA.
We have nothing in common, except for the fact our friends ditched us for spring break.
I have a bucket list for my senior year at Valley U.
He’s the only person I know on campus.
I’m ready to start checking things off my list.
Frat party: Check. TP the baseball house: Check. Goat yoga: Check. Skinny dipping: Check. Falling for Zeke Sweets, Valley U’s MVP: Not going to happen.

I can’t make out her form until I’m halfway down to the water. She sits on the dock, feet dangling above the water. She’s so fucking beautiful and innocent and I want to ruin her and worship her all at the same time. I’m not going to do either of those things, though. I’m going to stick to the path. The path doesn’t include dating. The path doesn’t even include fun most days and Gabby deserves days that are all about fun. She turns her head as I get closer and there’s that big Gabby smile pointed right at me. “Hey.” “Hey, yourself. Whatcha doing down here all alone?” “I thought we could cross skinny dipping off both our lists.” My brows raise. “What about your tattoo?” She shrugs. “It’s been a week. I’m willing to risk a quick dip if you are.” I rub a hand over my chin. I’m not ashamed of my body, but I’d also prefer not to have my black ass photographed if one of my teammates happen to stumble upon us. Last year one of the sophomores got drunk at a party and passed out naked in the bathroom. I have no idea why he was naked in there, but the photos of his hairy ass were everywhere. My ass is baby smooth and awesome, but I still don’t want it on display. “Well, come on before someone sees us.” She’s unbuttoning her shorts and pushing them down while I stand there gawking. The sight of her bare legs puts me in motion. Just not a part of me I want in motion right now. I turn around, give my dick a little pep talk that includes promises I won’t be a celibate asshole forever, and then undress to my boxers. “You decent?” I ask over my shoulder. “No. Oh my God, don’t look.” She laughs, I hear her footsteps on the dock and then a splash. A few seconds later, she calls, “Your turn.” I push my boxers down and then hold my hands over my junk, semi-erect still because promises be damned, and take two large steps before jumping in beside her. Her happy squeals direct my entry into the lake as I clear the water from my eyes. We’re treading water buck naked not two feet from one another. It’s a little trippy. I haven’t spent time with a girl naked like this in… well forever. If I’m naked and this close to a girl, it’s for one purpose and though I’m a gentleman, of course, it’s not about anything but carnal desires being met. Thrusts and grunts and release. I don’t think it would be like that with Gabby. No, I know it wouldn’t be like that, which is another reason it can’t happen. “So now what?” she asks, suddenly looking a little nervous. “Far as I know, this is all there is to it. How do you feel?” “Naked.” She laughs. “But also like a rebel.” She splashes water at me playfully and I do it right back. “Think anyone can see us?” I shrug. “Maybe. Do you want them to see you?” “God, no,” she says too fast. The excitement in her eyes is a dead giveaway. I think Gabby likes the thrill, the possibility of being caught, and God help me because I want nothing more than to keep her safe while she explores every
 sordid fantasy.

Catch up on the Smart Jocks series!

Book 1 - The Assist
Book 2 - The Fadeaway

This is a romance between Zeke (the African-American) NBA bound star in the previous books and Gabby who was best friends with the heroine in the last book. In the last book Gabby had a bad car accident and had many scars now after being house bound for 3 years she is at Valley U for the whole college experience. Her best friend is dating Zeke's friend and that's how the two end up on a pity date.

Zeke is 100% about basketball and he loves that and he has no time for girls. Until his friends ask him to lookout for Gabby during Spring Break and it starts a very adorable friendship between the two.

This is an extremely slow burn story and a friends turning to romance story. Zeke was a sweetheart and he was so great to Gabby. Gabby knows he is leaving town in a few months and so she wants to spend every second with Zeke and making some great college memories.

This was a well written story and I really liked both characters. Zeke is a fairly quiet guy and Gabby was kinda crazy and I felt that they were so cute together. He is a much quieter hero than the other books in the series, just be warned about that. So the story moves at a slower pace. Gabby was a riot and she really jumps off the pages as we join her as she explores the whole college experience.

Southern Gentleman by Jessica Peterson

Southern Gentleman - RB banner.jpg
Southern Gentleman, an all-new full length standalone contemporary romance by Jessica Peterson is LIVE!
COVER .jpg
I know two things when I meet my new boss, Greyson Parker Montgomery III.
One, he’s an egomaniac.
And two, we’re going to get naked.
Something I didn’t know? That I’d end up pregnant.

No one is more surprised by our off-the-charts chemistry than me. I’m a free spirit with a passion for design and a taste for the bohemian. Greyson is a cocky venture capitalist who’s as pretentious as his sharply cut power suits.

He owns half of Charleston, and has the other half at his beck and call. But the only place he owns me is in bed...or in the backseat of his car, boneless and begging for mercy.

We argue over contracts and costs all day long. Behind closed doors, however, we engage in a different kind of business. The kind that has me surrendering to his unique brand of dominance.
Our no-strings attached arrangement suits me just fine. Until I wake up one morning with what I think is a wicked hangover.

Only it’s not a hangover.

I thought Greyson was a typical “greed is good” grump. But when he demands to be involved in the life we accidentally created, I start to see a different side of him. One that’s more gentleman than jerk.

Am I crazy to think we could be a family together? Or is making me fall for him just another one of his power plays?

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

About Jessica:
Jessica Peterson writes smart, sexy romance set in her favorite cities around the world. She grew up on a steady diet of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Frasier, and Edward Cullen, and it wasn’t long before she started creating irresistible heroes of her own. She loves strong coffee, stronger heroines, and heroes with hot accents.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband Ben and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean.

Connect with Jessica:

This book is #3 in the series and its my absolute favorite. It features two new characters, Julia who is best friends with the heroine in the 1st book and Greyson who is in partnership with the hero from the first book. So  both don't know each other but are friends and work together with the previous couple/s.

When Julia and Greyson meet its very HOT but she is an employee and he is the boss. So they keep it under wraps. That is until fate takes a hand and makes things very messy. This forces the two to work together and find out who the other one is and well its what made this book so awesome.

I truly loved this story and loved both characters. I would have enjoyed less smoking as I don't find it sexy but least they do try and quit.

Excerpt

“This is quite the reunion then.”
“One I would have avoided if possible.”
“You said you have business to discuss? I’m so intrigued.” His facetiousness, which was once fun, has now turned biting. We’re on opposite sides, no longer partners in crime.
“I want to meet Mr. Nilsson, and you’re going to introduce me.”
“I don’t know who Nilsson is. And he doesn’t go by Mr. Nilsson.”
I sigh at the obvious misstep. He knows what he’s doing.
“If you don’t know him then how do you know he doesn’t go by Mr. Nilsson?”
“Sorry?”
“You said you don’t know him, so how do you know the nomenclature he prefers?”
“All staff are briefed on the host.”
“And you’re just a regular, nobody, member of the staff.”
“Yes. That’s me—”
“Sir!” A young man in a waiter’s tux bursts through the patio doors. “The caterer is freaking out. She can’t find her late-night peanut butter and jelly puff pastries.”
“Why are you asking me?” he asks stiffly without looking away from me. “Why would I know where the caterer’s puff pastries are?”
The kid looks like the waiter is a world-class idiot and speaks very slowly, a thick New York accent peeking out.
“Because you’re the chief of staff, which you made us repeat back to you three times in a row. In unison.”
He glances at me, and I raise my eyebrow, a victorious but subtle gesture.
He turns back to the boy, clearing his throat.
“Tell the caterer to check the walk-in in the second kitchen. Some of the overflow went there.”
“Thanks.” The kid is gone as fast as he arrived.
Kai's expression is as innocent as a newborn baby taking a shit.
“Surely the chief of staff, the representative of the man of the house, knows and has met his boss.”
He folds his hand behind his back, rocks on his feet.
“Even if I do know Nilsson a little, why would I agree to arrange a meeting?”
“Because I have something he wants.”
“And what’s that?”
“A life away from the spotlight. Away from the people he hates. An easy life with no expectations.”
He stops moving, his eyes narrowing. “What exactly are you proposing?”
“Just that. A proposal. Of marriage.”
He stares at me, his eyes wide, and then he laughs. I knew he would, the idea so outrageous and outdated. But I have my sources, and I know Nilsson is as desperate as I am. I keep my expression neutral, unaffected by his reaction.
“There are at least a hundred women,” he says, finally composing himself, “inside that ballroom that want to provide what you’re suggesting. What makes you think you have anything to offer? Your family reputation is tarnished, thanks to that article. What advantage could you give Nilsson?”
He’s listening. Time for my pitch.
“Those women come with rules and expectations. They want his name and the privilege that brings. They want him at their side at galas, showing him off like a fucking engagement ring or a puppy with a diamond collar.”
“What do you come with?”
“Freedom. The freedom for Nilsson to do whatever the fuck he wants. Stay holed up in this mansion. Travel the world. Never see me, not once. I’ll agree to anything he wants, as long as I get what I want.”
“He’s already free. He’s richer than Croesus—”
“Which I hear will change if he doesn’t marry by the end of the year.”
If silence could kill, Kai’s weapon of choice would be made of a narrow looks.
“How do you know that?”
Play it cool. Hook him and trap him.
“I have my sources.”
We face off for a moment, the tension riding us, stirring us. Eventually he shrugs, acting nonchalant.
“It doesn’t matter. Even with that knowledge, you don’t have anything special to offer. You don’t know him, and he doesn’t want just anyone.”
“You’re right. No one knows him or what he wants. I don’t know what happened to him after his parents’ death, what made him the way he is now. Maybe he’s disfigured or crippled or just really really shy. Maybe he’s a drag queen by night, and he knows at least a quarter of the men and women in there won’t give to his charities anymore if they discover his true self. I don’t know why, and I don’t need to know. I don’t care. I want one thing.”
He doesn’t ask, and I don’t wait for him to. I don’t need his permission or his acknowledgment.
You don’t own me.
“I want the money.”
He takes a step back, disgust clear on his face, even in the dim light of the patio.
“Of course you do. Christ.”
“I want a limited amount, and I’m willing to sign a contract, a prenup, whatever he thinks necessary.”
“How much?”
“That’s for Mr. Nilsson and me to discuss.”
He shakes his head and the disappointed expression almost makes me waver. Almost.
“You’re just like them,” he grits out.
“What did you think I’d become after you disappeared?”
It’s the only memory I let slip, the only sign I’m angry at him and still holding a grudge.
His eyes are fathomless as he takes me in. “Better.”
He turns on a stiff heel, and as he walks out, calls back, “Nilsson will be in touch.”
“How? A text?” I lay on the sarcasm, thick and cynical.
He pauses, his hand hovering over the doorknob lightly, no sign seeing me has had any effect on him at all.
“Email. Cell service isn’t very reliable around these parts.”
“Just like the people here. What a life he must live.”
He grins. It’s cold. So unlike anything I remember. “Life is the ultimate delivery system for disillusionment.”
With a snap of the door frame, he’s gone.
I sag against the railing and down my glass of champagne. The alcohol burns and carbonation fills my lungs like balloons.
There. It’s done.
The wheels are in motion. I’m on my way to seeing the arts program finally succeed, and I survived a meeting with Kai.
Not half bad for a night’s work.

Author Bio

Ceri is the author of quirky and sexy contemporary romance novels. She has a major weakness for sappy cuddle moments as much as hot and steamy sex scenes, and a penchant for writing snappy and sarcastic dialogue. She loves romance that isn't afraid to be awkward and uncouth, and thrives on flawed characters with big hearts.

A New York native, Ceri now lives in California with her two cats, Mercy and Eugene Fitzherbert, who should be very thankful she didn't name him frying pan. She is a proud functioning introvert and lover of all things geeky. You can find her haunting the Twitter machine or posting pictures of her ridiculous cats on Instagram.

This is book 6 in the series but the first one I have read. It easily stands alone and it is about two kids who meet when they are very young.

Kai is a waiter at a rich party. He is 18 and he meets 16 year old rich girl/socialite Celeste and they form a friendship. The story profiles how they get to know each other and fall in love and kiss on her 18th birthday. He is going away on a family trip and then they plan to run off together. But it never happens. Celeste ends up all alone and the story picks up 16 years later.

Kai is now back but he is not the same guy Celeste knew 16 years before. He is bitter and angry and secretive. Celeste is not the same either. She is still kinda but she is very jaded and she has a dream and for her dream to happen she needs to find a rich husband. And she thinks she has found him in Kai's boss.

This story is very Cyrano where Kai is the voice for his employer as Celeste forms an email relationship with Kai's boss to marry him. Meanwhile Kai and Celeste have a very complicated relationship. Meanwhile Kai has some pretty huge secrets.

This was a very well written story and the author really delves deeply into who Kai and who Celeste is and their personal pain. To some degree Kai is a train wreck where you know something big is coming but you cannot look away. That's part of the fun of this story. I did really enjoy it a lot.

But here is a warning on the book. Celeste is bisexual. I tend to stay away from bisexual romances. Though she states she is bi, this book is only about her and Kai. Personally I felt that the bi sexual storyline was not needed. If Frannie had been a Frankie, I don't think it would have changed the story at all. So I did not see the point of adding the bisexual aspect of this story.
