Chemistry by Tess Oliver

Blurb

Their chemistry inspired a generation. It's been nearly a decade, can the spark be revived?

Jameson and Kinsey were sizzling hot magic together on-screen in Forever Kisses nine years ago, but as their relationship continued off screen, the real drama began. With the paparazzi chasing them down for every stolen cup of coffee together and their entire relationship being broadcast through tabloid channels, the relationship quickly fell apart. Hearts were broken, harsh words were hurled and ugly rumors spread like wildfire through the silver screen world.

Forever Kisses was destined to become an instant cult classic, but Jameson's and Kinsey's careers weren't so lucky. The pair, who were once considered box office gold, were being whispered about as poison.

Now, they each need a box office hit, and Sawyer Croft, Forever Kisses' director, is convinced he has the perfect project. Will Jameson and Kinsey find that chemistry they once had or will this be the final piece of heartbreak, the end of the movie and quite possibly their careers?

Excerpt

I stared out at the rowdy, spontaneous party going on around us, but all I could think about were his hands touching me, his arms holding me against him. So this was what Cassie meant when she said the rest of the world peeled away and the only things left were the two of us. It was as if nothing else existed at that moment, just Jameson and me, moving slowly around the dance floor. We were no longer moving to the rhythm of the music. We were just moving in unison, pressed closely against each other, dangerously close. Every part of me reacted to his touch. The strength of his arms, the warmth of his body, the scent of his soap, it was all so damn intoxicating I couldn't help but fantasize about Jameson taking my hand, pulling me back to his trailer to rip off my clothes and restart where we'd left off nine years ago.

This is a brand new author for me and it features a love triangle and  I HATE love triangles. I avoid them and had I known this book featured that I would not have read it. So if you hate love triangles, you have been warned.

Another feature of this story is that there is cheating and the male lead, Jamison, in the story is with someone else, Harlow, until 90% of the story. Yep 90%. I really liked Jamison and I really liked Kinsley, the female lead, alone as individual characters. But I HATED the cheating and I hated that this story is more about his relationship with his girlfriend and less about his relationship with Kinsley.

That said there were things I liked about the story. I LOVED watching them make a movie together and we get to read snippets of the novel to book that they turn into a movie and we also get to read the scenes as they acted them out in the movie. I liked the side characters as well like Shelby and Spencer, the director of the movie.

The plot follows two exes, Kinsley and Jamison who some ten years before were actors/tresses who fell in love while filming Spencer's first movie. But K thought J cheated and so she dumped him and they never had it out in ten years. This aspect of the story was kinda strange to me, but it was told as they were both 19 and so their youth was what they blamed it on.

Now ten years later they are in another movie and they need the chemistry they had ten years before to get their careers on track and so they are working together again.

If you like a love triangle and cheating doesn't bother you and you are okay with them not being together until almost the very end, then go out and grab this story because you will love it. It is not the type of story I  enjoy but I did enjoy some aspects of the story and it was well written with a complicated storyline.
