For the right fee, I’ll pretend to be almost anyone
And there are lots of clients—mostly men—who require my services
But behind my confident exterior, I worry about getting called out
And then I do—and by the richest, handsomest, slickest alpha in all of Chicago
Fletcher:
She sank my sale with a smile, some cleavage, and a bat of her lush long lashes
My anger was eclipsed only by my infatuation with her
And then the perfect plan presented itself to me
I seized the day and I’ll get the girl
Marley Jacobs is a faker.
For a living, she pretends to be other people. It’s a job she fell into, and she’s doing well for the first time since moving to Chicago, but in the back of her mind, there’s always the worry that someone, somewhere, will call her out. Marley just prays it’s not the obsessive, crazy boyfriend she fled from almost six years before.
Fletcher Creed has a problem. As a successful businessman from a prominent Chicago family, he’s used to solving problems. But when a mere slip of a girl—make that an exceptionally gorgeous, talented woman—gets in his way, he sets out to turn a liability into an asset. And that asset has assets that happen to be spectacular.
When faker meets financier, sparks fly and trouble follows, but will the end justify the means?

Meet Christie Tegan
Hi, I’m Christie Tegan, and I’m so happy to introduce everyone to my debut romance novel, Faker.
Although this is my first novel, I’ve always loved to write—short stories, poetry, songs, email rants, grocery lists, you name it. Having lived in various cities in the US, my plan is to set a novel in each one, starting with Chicago for Faker. After all, you write what you know.
I currently live in Los Angeles with my two dogs and a cat named Horatio. I’m hoping if things go well, I can give up my day job in the corporate world to write full time. That would be my dream goal.

Before I begin this review I want to mention that this is a debut by a brand new author on the scene and its a very original and wonderfully written story. It is a not a light reading type of story. It has a lot of pain but also a lot of triumph for the characters and at times the two major characters Marley and Fletcher don't have all the facts of what is happening, we the reading audience do.
I also want to give a warning to readers who might be sensitive to the subject of rape because the character of Marley is raped. Not inside this story but more in the past. The story describes how it happens and with who and even has her share her pain within the story. Though no rape takes place in the present in this story.
This is a fairly tame story sexually though at one point there is a spanking and its done infront of some bodyguards. To be honest it was my only complaint with this story. It has no elements of BDSM at all in it and no other elements of voyeurism at all, so this scene was really strange in the story and minus that one scene I highly enjoyed this story. I am not sure why it was included in the story and truly I felt Marley should have made Fletcher pay more for this when he apologizes later.
The story was mostly fun. It stars Marley who has a very original career. It takes place in Chicago and she attends high society events with men who hire her to pretend to be a character they invent, it could be anyone, a sister, wife, girlfriend, for a price she portrays a character and she also changes her looks to reflect that character. Hence the name of this story Faker.
Fletcher meets her as she plays a character that ruins a deal for him and then he starts to see her around town in her different identity. He is in a difficult position because he needs a wife so he decides to hire Marley and marry her to get his inheritance.
There is no cheating in this story but Fletcher has a nasty ex and sometimes photos make the other jealous.
The main plot of this story is a fake marriage as the two main characters get to know each other and fall for each other. While Marley has MANY secrets and an ex who wants to destroy her. Fletcher does not trust anyone or anything and so has to learn to love and trust Marley.
It is an intense story and I really loved it but definitely not light reading. If you like action and drama you will love this fast paced story.
