Johnathan

The one word I didn’t think I’d have to accept so soon—retirement.
Never playing again was my new reality, along with all the other symptoms that came along with my career-ending injury.

Just as I'm learning to deal with my new normal, life throws me another challenge, but this one might just be the game-changer that alters my life for the better.

Jill

I've always been focused. School. Graduation. Opening my own business.
I didn't see myself settling down anytime soon, I had an empire to build.
I definitely didn’t expect a newly retired hockey player would bulldoze his way into my life.
Maybe it's time I focus on more than just my business.

The more time we spend together, the more I realize I can have more than one focus.

Sometimes, when one chapter closes, it makes room for another…

I am a huge fan of this author and I have read all her books and I adore her hockey series. This book is very different from any of the books in the series as hockey is not the focal point of the story.

Johnathon aka John we meet at the start of the book and he has a very big decision to make about his future. He is suffering with symptoms of concussions starting to affect his brain and so he needs to decide to retire or to keep going and causing more damage.

Jill runs into him one day and tries to help him and so a friendship and attraction is born. Jill is friends with his teammates fiancee and they have both crushed on the other, but never followed thru with the crush and so them running into each other starts them into seeing each other romantically.

I adored Jill and John together. They are sweet and romantic and I adored watching them fall for each other and try and make a life together.

There are LOTS of sex scenes in this story but its also very character driven and I loved watching John figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life and how Jill will fit in with it.
