Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier.
When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

The plot of the Barrington series is that Sophia and Dale Barrington had a bunch of children and one ended up drowned though they never found the body. The whole families life was changed from that one event. Their mother became fragile and suffered a nervous break down and it affected how all the children related to their parents, each other and finding love.
As this is book 9 in the series and 2 in the related to Barrington series, all the children have found love and yes, the child thought to have drowned didn't and so he is now a part of the stories going forward. The last son to find love was Grant Barrington with Viv and she had two fun brothers named Dylan and Connor. The two brothers ended up in Hollywood and Grant asked his best friend to help keep the brothers safe and teach them about the evil world and that was Bradford. He and Grant were mercenaries over the years.
In the last book Connor (book 8 and book 1 of the offshoot Barrington series) found love but Dylan is still available and Joanna is a friend to Viv and she thinks Dylan is hot. So at a family event she tries to get to know him and asks Bradford for help. But Bradford is hot for Joanna. So the book starts with a love triangle of sorts but it ends fast.
Joanna then realises she is very into Bradford but Brad is a sweet guy with a heart of gold but a very dark and messy past and so he does not think he is good enough for Joanna. Enter Clay who is married to Lexi and is brother in law to the Barringtons. He has a lot of money and time and he decides to help Joanna out and help her land Bradford.
This story was a lot of fun and very much beauty and the beast with a fairy godmother. Its book 2 in the Barrington friends offshoot of the main series. But it easily can stand alone. We do get to see a lot of Grant and Sophia and Dale and the rest of the Barrington's are not featured that much in it. But I think that helps it stand alone where the first 7 books don't stand alone.
