What It Takes to Move On by J. Santiago

What It Takes to Move On by J. Santiago is now live!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Marco Rivera is at a crossroads. The professional goalkeeper is at the height of his career. But when the mother of his son dies unexpectedly, he must make some difficult decisions. Leaving his job behind, he is determined to insert himself into his son's life and be the hands-on father he's always wanted to be.

But first, he must gain the trust of Diana Nieves.

Diana has everything under control. Mother of two and guardian to Marco's son, she manages her family, her ex-husband, and the local high school with deft efficiency. Dealing with Marco Rivera though might be more than she can handle.

Forced to work together, Diana and Marco need to figure out how to heal a grieving teenager, rein in a wayward girl, and fight their increasing attraction to each other. In the midst of tragedy, they have to decide what it takes to move on.

This is only my second time reading this author and this book was so different than the last one I read so it was a huge surprise. I LOVED it! It was absolutely amazing. It was well written and the story it told was beyond wonderful. Seriously amazing. Its very different than I have read before and its not my typical light reading story but by the time this book ended I was in love with it so much.

This is a story primarily about two families. The Scott family and the Rey family. They are brought together when they lose Cynthia Rey in a car accident.

The Rey family consists of Alejandro Rey or Ale, age 16 and his mom Cyn or Cynthia who died six months before the start of this book, and his part time dad Marco, who is a London soccer player.

The Scott family is run by mom, Diane and her ex husband, Jackson and her two children, Mia, age 15 and Micah, age 16.

The two families met when Cyn was a single mom with a toddler and she met Diane and they became besties and so did their kids. But when Cyn dies it changes both families forever.

Thats all I am going to say about the plot. There were many surprises along the way in this book. I am not sure I would classify it as a romance. I think its more chick lit and it does have a romance but its a slow moving romance I guess its not the focal point of this story. So I think its more chick lit than romance.

I LOVED that we don't just get Diane and Marco''s POV but we also get Mia's and Ale's. It took this book from great to fantastic because this is not a story about two people but rather about two families and Ale and Mia are both teens who have strong feelings for each other.

This was an absolutely wonderful story about moving on and forgiving your past and moving onto your future and making your dreams work but also being there for your family. It is not light reading but its a story I will remember as I absolutely adored it.
