This is Brynlee's story, she is PT and works for the hockey team, but her mom is Scarlet Kingston, and her dad is Cade who runs a boxing gym. We have seen her in previous books but in this book, we get to see how things happened, and I totally loved it. We get to see who she was having sex with, and we get her take on scenes we saw in another book.

Is this a standalone book? I think it can be read as a stand-alone, maybe. But honestly there are lots of names and I have read all the books and I still have to remind myself whose parents are whose and whose kid is whose and whose siblings are whose. So, I highly suggest you read this series from book one.  It's an awesome series and I LOVE THE KINGSTONS!!

This is a second chance romance between Deacon and Brynlee. They knew each other's as teens and only run into each other at a bar. He is in town for a job, and she lives there still. But she has some upcoming challenges in this book, related to her mother, father and her job. Let's just say things get bumpy between her and her parents and her job. 

Deacon has always had feelings for Brynn, but she was always too young until well now. He is a single dad and he and Brynn have a blast catching up. But his ex is now married, and they have some issues in this story. 

I wouldn't say either party needed to get married. But they do marry fast, and they tell themselves it's a marriage to make things easier but from the second they re-meet, things get very complicated. I absolutely loved Deacon; he really is perfect for Brynn. 

Brynn is a really strong and awesome woman, and I loved her book so much. She gets some hard knocks, but she always comes back to fight what she wants in life. I love how the story discusses how Scarlett is the mom of the heart and the issue of who her mom was. It's a big part of this story and I really enjoyed that angle of the story.
