ALONG CAME YOU by Claudia Burgoa

ABOUT THE BOOK

From USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Claudia Burgoa comes this billionaire workplace accidental pregnancy romance that’ll leave readers laughing and swooning!

What happens when you break the cardinal rule?

I’m good at following rules.

Like, don’t sleep with your hot employees. That’s a good rule.

At least I was until that night. I blame the champagne and the tuxedo he wore.

There are several reasons why I shouldn’t be attracted to Elliot McPhee.

1.     He’s emotionally unavailable.

2.     He’s in his mid-forties—too old for me.

3.     He’s my employee.

4.     He’s jaded after a disastrous divorce.

5.     He’s leaving soon.

But he has gray eyes, and a deep velvety voice…did I mention he looks like Joshua Jackson?

I can’t resist.

It’s just a one-night stand before he leaves.

Except, things get complicated.

We’re talking two bright pink lines complicated.

Did I mention he has no desire to commit?

So, we agree not to try.

Except, we can’t keep our hands off each other.

Then I find out he’s not who I thought.

He’s so wrong for me. So why do I still want to create a family with him?

Along Came You is a forbidden age gap romance involving a secret billionaire and an accidental baby. Get ready to laugh, swoon, and be seduced by sexy billionaires willing to please their women!

This is book 3 in the series of the Paradise Bay series and mostly stands alone. That means that the other characters from the other books have a big part in this story and there will be small things you won't understand unless you read them but also the author catches you up on their pasts in this story as well.

ABOUT THE SERIES

This series is about the San Franscisco Spearman family and within the story there are eight siblings.

The first set of siblings are the triplets:

Lysander - oldest triplet and no book yet

Aslan - Book 1 and its a romance with Keaton who he is best friends with and who he also works with. (Faking The Game (claudiayburgoa.com))

Gatsby- Book 2 and its his romance with Maia who hates Gatz and its a second chance romance with lots of love and hate on Maia's side Can’t Help Love (claudiayburgoa.com)

Other siblings

Caspian Spearman - his story is told in My Favorite Mistake (claudiayburgoa.com) which is not out yet #4  but this book has a prequel that is available, My Favorite Night (claudiayburgoa.com). He lives in Portland and is the professional hockey playing brother.

Cory- a sister Spearman

Huxley - not much was said about him

Heath - a doctor

Fern, the star of this story, keep reading for my thoughts on her romance with Elliott.

ALONG CAME YOU

Fern Spearman is younger than the triplets but also the next oldest. When her father died she became a mom to her siblings and the triplets acted like a dad to the younger siblings. Her mom checked out for awhile and this is a big part of the story in that the mom is angry with Fern in many scenes, because Fern is still taking care of the siblings.

As this story begins its runs alongside the first two books in the series then it goes beyond those books. The story starts out one day when Elliott (who is 40 something) meets 32 year old Fern on a bad day for her. She runs her families foundation and has a huge project to build homes for low income families but no construction company. Elliott volunteers his help for free and so starts a beautiful friendship and work relationship.

As the book progresses it skips ahead and Elliott and Fern have been working together for 7 months and Elliott has become a very close family friend who she also works with and who has become close to her whole family. I loved watching Keaton and Maia as they tease Fern about the crush she has on Elliott.

----

Sidenote: At some point we discover that Hazel is Elliott's ex and I could not figure out where I knew that name from, turns out Elliott, Hazel and Scott Everhart are part of the author's Everhart series. Elliott is in a love triangle in that book Perfect for Me (claudiayburgoa.com).  I highly suggest you read that book before this one to get a previous history about Elliott for this book. Note: I have not read this book but I couldn't figure out how I knew Elliott and it drove me a bit crazy.

                                                    ----

Elliott is a very complicated character in this story. He is a billionaire in hiding I guess you can say. He keeps people at a distance and his past is shall we say complicated. This book has a lot of angyst as he desires Fern but he feels he is too complicated, hides too much and is too old for her.

But the reality is that Fern is more mature than him, she faces life head on but is also distant from her family and friends though she hides it well. She has been hurt and yet she is brave at going after the things in the world she wants. Elliott can learn a lot from Fern.

My favorite part is in the book when Elliott finally lets go and he tries so hard to stay away but simply cannot. This book is told in dual points of view but lasts about a year, sometimes skipping weeks and months.

It is an awesome second chance at love story with characters who are very complicated and fight their feelings very hard. The age gap was this big point in the story but honestly I don't think 32 and 40 something was a big deal at those ages. I wish the author had been more specific about Elliott's age since he thought about it a lot.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
