Make Me Dream - Oil Barrons Book 4 - By Marie Johnston (Stetson and Lyric)

Make Me Dream by Marie Johnston is now live!

ABOUT THE BOOK
Being ghosted by my best friend's brother was easier to get over than the pink positive sign I got six weeks later.

With our ten-year age difference, I didn't think I was more to Stetson Barron than his little sister's quirky best friend, the one with store-bought hair color and thrifted clothing. Until one hot summer night at his cousin's wedding when I climbed him like a water tower.

And then he didn't talk to me for weeks afterward.

A pink plus sign and a panic attack later, the trailer house I share with my mom burns down. Stetson shows up at the ER like a country knight on a diesel-powered steed, arranges a place for my mom to stay, and takes me home with him.

The weeks of radio silence after our hookup have left me wary. Being with Stetson should be a fantasy come to life, but I'm waiting for my prince to ride away. I'm not the type of woman his parents want him to be with, and they'd rather pretend there's no baby than welcome me to the family. My mom was in the same situation once, and I've learned her lesson--alone is better than abandoned.

When Stetson is forced to choose between his new family unit and old family expectations, will he prove to be the man of my dreams? Or am I in for a heart-breaking wake-up call?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Meet Marie Johnston

Marie Johnston writes paranormal and contemporary romance. Before she was a writer, she was a microbiologist. Depending on the situation, she can be oddly unconcerned about germs or wildly phobic. She's also a licensed medical technician and has worked as a public health microbiologist and a lab tech in hospital and clinic labs. Marie's been a volunteer EMT, a college instructor, a security guard, a phlebotomist, a hotel clerk, and a coffee pourer in a bingo hall. All fodder for a writer!! She lives in the Upper Midwest with her husband, four kids, three cats, and a Corgie.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is an age gap, small town, forbidden type of surprise pregnancy with her besties way older brother romance. It is part of the author's Barron series, but it can stand alone, though you might get confused or feel like you missed something as the Barron families' dynamics are very confusing. I have read this entire series and at times I was confused who was whose son or cousin etc. The Barron history is very important in this story as it's a pivotal plot point in this romance.

Lyric is best friends with Stetsons younger sister. Lyric has crushed on him her whole life. The book opens up after they have a one-night stand and as she is trying to find out if she is pregnant.

Stetson has a huge thing for Lyric, but he never went for it with her because his parents have never liked Lyric and also because she is sisters' sole friend and if it didn't work out it would destroy his sister. Thats why even though he has always wanted her, and he knows she has a crush on him, he always tried to resist her until that one night...

When Lyric finds out she is pregnant and then there is a fire that destroys her home, Stetson takes her in and that's when this story heats up. They go from friends to roommates to parents to be and they fall hard for each other. But with Stetson's parents against them ending up together, things get very complicated very fast. Added they also have some exes that like to stir up trouble. This is a couple that has to decide what relationships work for them and what is asking too much.

I really liked that the author made the family dynamics of the Barrons and most especially Stetson's parents such a pivotal point in this book. I also liked that it was not an easy fix. People are complicated and hurt that has never been festering for years once exposed is complicated and complicates the rest of the family. I liked that the author really explored that aspect of this story and did not make it an easy fix and it was one of the hardest things that I have seen a male lead character go through before in a romance novel.

Lyric was the perfect partner for Stetson. She is such a strong character in her beliefs, thoughts and feelings. I loved how mature she was and how she supports Stetson and how deeply she loves him.
