Playing Hard to Get by Monica Murphy (Knox and Joanna)

ABOUT THE BOOK

Playing Hard to Get by Monica Murphy is now live!

Knox Maguire is the king of our college campus.

Star offensive tight end on the football team.

He is the complete opposite of me in every way.

I'm quiet. He's loud.

I'm shy. He's definitely not.

Everyone loves him. No one knows me.

Fresh out of a breakup, I don't really trust him, and why should I? Knox is the ultimate player. When I become his English tutor, I tell myself we need to keep things between us strictly business. Watching my mother deal with my ex-athlete father long, long ago taught me to stay far away from that type of man.

Yet Knox is impossible to resist. Next thing I know, we're getting hot and heavy in the library—and that was never part of the plan. When Knox admits he can't stop thinking about me, I have a realization.

I can't stop thinking about him either.

Instead of keeping my distance, I pull him in closer. Until somehow, we're spending all of our time together and I find myself falling for Knox. Hard.

Will this actually work between us? Or am I getting played?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Meet Monica

Monica Murphy is a New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling romance author. Her books have been translated in almost a dozen languages and have sold over two million copies worldwide. Both a traditionally published and independently published author, she writes young adult, new adult and contemporary romance. She's also known as USA Today bestselling author Karen Erickson.

A native Californian, she lives on fourteen acres in the middle of nowhere with her husband, two kids, one dog, and four cats. When she's not writing, she's an assistant coach for her daughter's high school cheer team, which is a two season sport. Meaning, she's at practice with a bunch of teenage girls all the time. Or she's at a football game. Or a basketball game. Maybe someday, she'll even write about this experience.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

In this book we meet siblings Blair and Knox Maguire. This story centers on Knox who if you have read previous books by this author are the children of Owen and Chelsea from the authors Four Years Later book. This makes them cousins to the Callahan's and in the same world as that series by the author.

Knox is a very hot football player at his college. He meets Joanna at her job at the campus bookstore and even before he knows her name, he has a crush on her. He then ends up needing tutoring and she ends up as his school tutor. Drew has a form of Dyslexia and Jo manages to really help him with this disability. They have a business relationship, and, in the beginning, there is a forbidden aspect to this story when Jo and Drew want to explore a more personal relationship.

We also get to learn more about Blair in this story and I am hoping her story is next and we learn more about Knox's best friend Cam. We also have a few scenes with Owen and Chelsea and that was really fun, and you will enjoy it if you have read their story before.

This was a hot and sweet romance at college with a small forbidden angle but with lots of flirtation and a hero that was so sweet and romantic and who falls for Jo pretty fast, but it takes her some time to fall for him as she is just out a long-term relationship. Despite that this story was a fun college romance with very little angst and drama. I really loved it and if you are looking for a fun and light read then this book is perfect.
