The Ex I'd Love to Hate by Nadia Lee (Grant and Aspen)

The Ex I’d Love to Hate, an all-new thrilling enemies-to-lovers, second chance billionaire romance from New York Times bestselling author Nadia Lee is available now!

                      ABOUT THE BOOK

Grant Lasker is the first guy I fell in love with.
The first guy I shared everything with.

I thought what we had was perfect…until I found out I was just a bet to him.

All the lavish gifts and attention were nothing more than tricks to fool me.
Grant always wins, no matter the collateral damage.

I ran away without a second glance and rebuilt my life, along with the walls around my heart.

Fourteen years later, I manage to find a job that pays enough to keep my beloved grandfather in a private assisted-living center.
There is just one problem…

The person I need to work for is Grant, and he seems to think I’m the one who betrayed him and is doing everything in his power to make my life hell.

But if he thinks he's going to win again, he has another think coming.

                              EXCERPT

Thinking of time and sanity reminds me of the redhead from two days ago. Aspen Hughes was in a ratty T-shirt and faded denim shorts. No makeup or fancy hairdo. But I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she placed her hands on her hips and demanded I do the group paper, her moss-green eyes flashing. Sadie seemed like a lifeless prop by comparison.

That doesn’t really explain it, though. My usual taste is girls with toned bodies who are relaxed and carefree. A girl wound tightly enough to chase me to the polo field and call me an asshole over some dumb project neither of us is going to remember in a month is definitely not my type. Even if she does have curves more fitting for a Vegas stripper than a college kid. That body could revive a corpse, and my dick obviously isn’t immune because it’s getting hard at the thought of her. It’s not the body, my gut whispers. I’ve been around women who were even hotter. It’s just…Aspen looked at me like I was an annoying pest, which people simply do not do. They’re too impressed by my parents—and their fame—to notice or care that I don’t like or respect them. I shouldn’t put too much significance into her actions, though. She probably doesn’t know who my parents are. Once she finds out, she’ll smile and gaze up at me like I’m some kind of minor deity, like everyone else.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a second chance romance with a large dose of hate on both sides, but they are also forced to work together and end up falling for each other and giving each other a second chance.

The book starts off 14 years before. I started reading that part but just couldn't get into it. So, I pretty much skimmed the past until they break up. I hate stories that start in the past and then jump ahead, but I will say it went fast and honestly, I wanted to not get into it because I rather like to read stories as they are happening and discover what happened in the past as it is dealt with because well there are two sides to every story.

So once the book actually starts 14 years later, Aspen is kind of desperate for a job. She knew Grant in college, but she ended up dropping out and she takes care of her grandfather who is in a home, and she needs money to take care of him. So, when she gets this lucrative job, there is no way she is quitting. Then she finds out her new boss is Grant, she knows it will be awful, but she won't let him win by quitting and that's when I fell in love with this character.

Grant is very similar to the guy he was 14 years before, but he is also very bitter, especially about Aspen. He hates her for different reasons than she hates him. His brother hired her, and he thinks he can be awful enough that she will quit. You need to understand one thing about Grant, he loves making bets. It's definitely something he did not learn from in the past. In addition, he knows how mean some of the college kids were to Aspen and so he brings them around to try and get Aspen to quit. These were not his finest moments. But he remembers Aspen's grandpa and he loved him, and he does some awesome things in relation to her grandpa. Also, when he starts to really forgive and move on well that's when I really started liking him.

If you love second chances, romance at work, hate to love romances well this was an awesome story. It had its moments too. Neither Aspen nor Grant are perfect but, in the end, they are perfect for each other. This was a story that also made me laugh hard at some of their schemes and shenanigans.
