🔥Second Chance

🔥Best Friend's Brother

ABOUT THE BOOK

I never keep secrets from my best friend, but I’m not sure how to tell her I’m sneaking around with her brother…who’s also my ex-husband.

I might be single, but I’m not ready to mingle. I should’ve stayed home from the street dance. My feet are barely surviving the two-step and my dance partners are looking for dates while I’m only interested in forgetting the man I was once married to.

The night’s about to end with bruised toes and a rain storm when the guy who swept me off my feet years ago cuts in right before the downpour starts. Wilder Knight has always been the best dance partner I’ve ever had. Just not the best husband.

Once the storm hits, we take refuge in his pickup, but that isn’t all we do. After steaming up the windows and losing my underwear, I make a habit out of hooking up with my ex-husband.

Only the longer we continue, the easier it is to see why our marriage fell apart. I couldn’t get over him the first time and losing him a second time might destroy the secure life I’ve built for myself, leaving me to ask… Were we better left an unfinished memory?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Meet Marie Johnston

Marie Johnston is a RITA® Finalist, and a best-selling and award-winning writer of paranormal and contemporary romance – and an avid reader of them both.

Several years ago, when kids started outnumbering adults in the house, Marie Johnston left her job as a public health microbiologist to stay at home. Settling into working part-time and shuttling kids around gave Marie the opportunity to think about what she wanted to be when she grew up. A die-hard science geek, she explored her previously thought to be non-existent creative side after much time spent making snowman crafts and coloring princesses. Having entertained thoughts of writing a book one day then subsequently deciding it would be too hard, she finally put the figurative pen to paper and began to type – and fell in love with story telling.

The Sigma Menace is the first series by Marie with Fever Claim being her first book EVER.  She is humbled by the fact that people are willing to read to her books and looks forward to keeping readers entertained for many years.

Marie lives with her husband and four kids in North Dakota where the summers are gorgeous, the winters are brutal, and spring and fall are luxuries.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have been waiting for this book since reading the first book in this series and I absolutely loved it. Sutton and Wilder were awesome characters and I loved watching them find their second chance. It was not a simple journey but one they needed to take, to have their happily ever after.

Sutton and Wilder were married and are now divorced but neither of them has moved on in their hearts. But he can't give her what she needs, and she can't be where he needs her to be and so they are divorced. But their hearts have not moved on, so they decide to have a just sex relationship.

In a way it's a forbidden relationship because Sutton is very attached to Wilder's family, his sister is her bestie and his brothers and nieces and nephews are her family. So, she is fearful of rocking the boat and losing them if they find out about their fling. So, they try and have a secret fling.

When Wilder's boss who his mentor decides to retire. He starts to see how alone the man is and he wants more. He starts to see how distant he has made himself from his own family and how he treated Sutton in their marriage and he wants to be different.

This is essentially his story. He had tunnel vision about his job and it really took over his life. In this book he changes and grows and starts to see how he distanced himself from his ex and his siblings and their families. Sutton is not perfect either and she starts to see how her earlier life, and the way she grew up affected her marriage. She also has to let go of the hurt little girl and realize that she is loved and accepted by her friends and Wilder's family.

This was a really awesome second chance romance with a couple that are really connected but also had some really serious issues on both sides. I loved that we get to see all the couples from the other books and how their families are growing.
