Waiting for Snow by Mari Carr

ABOUT THE BOOK

She might be too big to sit on Santa’s lap, but Adele still has a couple of Christmas wishes. First, a night in Porter’s bed. The alpha cowboy is the king of one-night stands, so it shouldn’t be too much to ask. Follow it up with a White Christmas in Texas? She’ll have gotten everything she wants.

Porter doesn’t believe in asking for what he wants, but he’s got a couple of problems. He believes in riding it down and roping it up. If he gets Adele in his bed, he’s not planning to let her go. But there’s his reputation to overcome, and her stubbornness to boot. It might just take a holiday miracle to convince her to stay all year.

This is the first book in the series I had read, so when I started it, I felt I needed to go back and at least read the story about Adele's sister Macie and Hank Cooper who is Porter's boss and best friend. And I am glad I did because there are aspects in their story that I needed to know to read this story. That said this is supposed to be a stand alone story but I honestly feel that you need to read the story Waiting for Love (Sparks in Texas #5) before this one because things happen in that story that affect this story.

First I think I need to talk about Waiting for Love which is about Adele's sister Macie and Hank because Porter is apart of that story. In that story Hank is a widower, he is 42 and he was married to Sharon for 20 years who died from Cancer. Hank and Porter both loved her and often had threesomes with her. Macie then takes up with Hank and she admits that her and Porter had a one night stand after Sharon died. Up to that point Hank wanted a threesome with her and Porter too. So Porter watches them a few times but never joins because Hank ends up not wanting it. Macie and Hank end up happy and married. That is where this story comes in.

Waiting for Snow is about the romance between one nighter, Porter who is Hank's age, but who has never had any romantic relationship ever, and now he wants one with Adele/Addie who he has fallen for and who he wants a relationship with. But Addie thinks he just wants one night and she doesn't want to risk her heart on him. Added to that she knows about his night with her sister.

I really liked the writing. I also liked the characters and I believed that Porter falls hard for Addie. Addie was an awesome character and such a sweetheart. That said I am not a fan of siblings sleeping with the same guy.

It was downplayed as not romantic but more of a way to handle the pain, but still its a sibling and on top of that he would have done the threesome had Hank asked him to and also he did enjoy watching Macie with Hank. All this was a little much for me and so at times I was uncomfortable with the story. But that is a personal preference and if this is not an issue for you, well then its a great story.
