ABOUT THE BOOK

Moving to the US was meant to be the fresh start I needed, living closer to my dad and discovering who I was without the problems from my past surrounding me. New house, new friends, new life.

I thought I had a chance at becoming the Sadie Dahl I’d always wanted to be—fun loving, free, clean, and happy. It was a dream I was working hard to make a reality, and I thought I’d succeeded.

But nothing stays buried, nothing stays hidden, especially with all the information available on the internet today. Jealousy’s a curse, but apparently a woman scorned is evil and will do anything she can to get revenge.

Then again, I can understand how being forgotten by a man like Elijah Townsend-Rossi would sting.

As a kid my dream was to join the Coast Guard. I wanted to save lives, protect our waters, and stop the bad guy. And that’s exactly what I’d done. I’d spent years living for Semper Paratus.

Dreams shatter when it’s your best friend’s body that you pull out of the water and almost die trying to save six other sailors from the same vessel, though. Eight years of living and breathing my job had come to an end just as I was due to extend my service, and now I felt like a nomad. I roamed, I slept, I ate, I breathed. I had no purpose, just a void that I couldn’t fill and emotions I couldn’t get rid of.

And then I met Sadie. She amused me with her eccentricities and was unique, opening up a part of the world I hadn’t known existed. And damn, she had great sass.

Unfortunately, during my roaming I’d made some bad choices that were coming back to bite me—and her. Even worse, they were putting her life at risk with someone from her own past.

I might have failed my best friend, but I wasn’t going to do the same with her.

I really like the authors writing style. I have read a few of her series books and have really enjoyed them. I started her Providence Series which are in a series of books called Forever... As I read them they got more violent and more about  drama than romance so I stopped reading them. I then found her Cheap Thrills series and I adore that series. Its more about the people and romance than drama. When I heard about this book, I thought it was either a new series starting or it was related to Cheap Thrills.  It actually is related to the Forbidden Gold Providence Gold Book 5 ( I have not read it)  and  in that story we meet Parker and Ariana Townsend, this book is about Ariana's best friend Sadie and Elijah Townsend Rossi, who I believe is a cousin to Ariana. This is what I have pieced together since I have not read the previous books.

This was an interesting story and I liked Elijah and Sadie. Eventually I caught onto the story but it took a bit since I have not read the previous stories. Sadie and Elijah are friends and until this book have never pushed the friendship. They both have some serious pain and issues from their pasts but they both seem to get each other. Though Elijah has some stuff he needs to figure out. Sadie is pretty together so her issues are more about a a man who is stalking her and a past where she was almost raped. (I dont think I am spoiling anything because it seems like this was in the previous book.)

This book has some great romance scenes but also has a bit of insta love. They pretty much know each other well but haven't  followed thru with their feelings til this story. I found Elijah pretty awesome and I loved how fierce and forgiving and kind Sadie was. The stalker part of this story, I hated. It was well done but at times is was more violent than I wanted to read I guess you could say.

That said I did enjoy the relationship Elijah and Sadie had and I loved meeting Elijah's brothers.  The story ended in an awesome way and I really enjoyed visiting Providence.
