This is book 4 in the series but easily stands alone and its extremely different than any of the other books in the series, it almost seemed like it was a stand alone in that the tattoo parlor and characters there are seen only seldom in this story.
In this book we meet Dawson and his daughter Emmie, who is 17. They live in London and she is now his responsibility as her mom handed her to Dawson, He enrolls her in a top London school. What he is not expecting is that the assistant principal is his ex, Piper from when he was 18 who he thought died with her parents in a fire. The fire that his family set.
This is a mafia story. Its also a hate to love or revenge plot or second chance romance plotline. Dawson is not in the mafia but he is the son of a powerful gang/mafia group in London. When Piper died he had a one night stand that resulted in Emmie and so he got out so she could grow up safe, and that meant his brother and father ran things and they will be very unhappy when they find out that Piper is not dead.
Piper did some things and it resulted in her family being killed and she has been hiding but she wants to go home and that's how she ends up working at the same school that Dawson enrolls his daughter. These two hate each other but also they cannot stay away from each other and they don't really care what that means.
This book was extremely well written. But its also not a fun story or even romantic. Its gritty and hard and some of the characters do things that were hard for me to read. I like light and fun romances so this is not my type of story but it was also entrancing and I could not put it down. If you love mafia and dark romances well you will adore this story. It has violence in it as well. The author went hardcore and so I want you to be prepared for that. Its extremely well done but I feel it does need that warning.
My two favorite characters in this story was Dawson's mom. She saved the day and was so awesome. And Emmie, I loved her so much. I hope the author writes a story for her.
