The Heart of a Painter by Shani Haim

The Heart of a Painter by Shani Haim is live!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Erin
I need a man in my life like I need dark room to paint in.
Not in the slightest.
Not if I want to keep from getting hurt again.
Unfortunately for me, life doesn't work that way.

Because my new boss, the celebrity painter turned professor, is dead set on making my TA gig a nightmare.
So what if he's the most stunning combination of a tall, bearded, golden eyed male?
So what if I see a better person through his mask of an asshole he painted on himself?
I. Don't. Need. A. Man.

Thomas
I fled Boston when I was 18 and never looked back. Never wanted to look back. It was too painful.
While I made a fortune painting portraits of Russian Oligarchs, I lost the one that matters most--my creativity. The thing I left behind in Boston.
The thing I'm going to find by connecting to young artists who still have that spark.

Like the one my assistant has.
My stubborn, relentless, opinionated assistant.
The woman I'm starting to like, even though we don't make sense.
Even though she doesn't want a relationship.
Even though needing her might hurt me all over again.
I. Still. Want. Her.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a brand-new author for me and I absolutely adored this story. It stars Erin, who is a graduate student who has a new job working for a famous artist, Thomas, at her college as his teaching assistant. She is newly out of a nightmare relationship where she was abused.

Thomas is Erin's new boss and neighbor and let's say that things do not start out well for these two. I did love Erin's spunk and how she treats Thomas at first and how she sabotages him on his first day of classes. I would say this book starts off as an enemy's story where they are forced to work together as boss and employee.

Erin is an amazing artist and what I liked is how Thomas deals with her after her sabotage and also as he starts to watch her create her art and he starts to admire her as a person and as an artist. He also finds out she is newly out of a bad relationship and when he starts to catch feelings, he holds back to give her time to start to move on from her previous relationship. Then these two become friends and I adored how they build a very real and true friendship.

Thomas looks pretty together but he has a very complicated relationship with his parents. I loved that he asked for help from Erin in facing his past and how much he trusted her to help be a buffer.

This book is really about Thomas and Erin's relationship from enemies to friends to falling in love. It was an awesome story and I absolutely adored it. While Thomas and Erin are boss/employee and teacher/student teacher, it was never a forbidden relationship but was more about giving her time to get over her past relationship.
