Boss to the Rescue - Billionaire Boss #2 - by Janie Grey (Jasmine and Ed)

BLURB

That time you need to make a brilliant first impression for a competitive internship, but accidentally arrive late and with an armful of soggy kittens…only to find that your new boss, Ed Malden - who needs to adore the crap out of you if you’re to secure your dream job - is not only one of New Zealand’s hottest billionaire heartthrobs, but he is *majorly* allergic to cats.

The sneezing begins.

The glares / orders / bosshole attitude / intolerable demands follow.

And while the other interns (the punctual ones without wet cats) are given achievable tasks with which to prove themselves worthy of the one covetable position available… I’m given an unthinkable challenge to overcome. I *need* this job, but property mogul Ed clearly doesn’t want me on his team.

It could be worse, I suppose.

I could end up spending time with the boss and falling for the cat-hating, ball-busting, ego-toting, potential-realising, oddly inspiring, actually sort of gooey inside, swoon-worthy, panty-melting jerk… damn it.

Boss to the Rescue is a standalone romance with an HEA. While it's part of a series, each book is a different couple and can be read on its own.

AUTHOR BIO

Janie loves good coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and contemporary romance in all its forms. But while she loves many genres, billionaire romance is her favourite to write. Who doesn’t like a hot guy with buckets of money? Especially when he has to work hard to win the love of his life.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is book 2 in the series but can easily stand alone. I did read the first book and both main characters are seen in the first book as they each have connections/friendships with characters in the first book, but they don't actually meet each other until this book begins.

This is a boss/intern romance with an age gap (he is 34 and she is I think 22) and also a slow burn romance. It's a really great story and I found Ed fascinating and the assignments, and the projects Ed has his interns and Jasmine working on.

I also really enjoyed the writers writing style and I found it a fun, easy read that was fast paced and I could not put it down.

Ed is a very rich guy, and he runs his own real estate firm. He has 8 interns he usually accepts for 8 weeks and usually the best ones get a job offer at the end of 8 weeks.

Jasmine ends up being a wonderful young and smart woman who charms Ed with her hard work and brain power. But she is also very dangerous for him as he only does one nighters and he does not believe and even want love.

This is very much about a guy who is not the most mature guy in the world. Jasmine is one tough woman, and she attempts to tame his heart. She is much younger than him, but she also knows what she wants and knows what she deserves, and she does not accept anything less. I absolutely loved her so much and truly she schooled Ed and really changed him and helped him grow up.

Because they work together and she is his intern, one that he will grade. They cannot be seen as anything but boss and intern. This is very much a forbidden romance, but they also share some friend connections and that makes it even harder for them to stay away from each other.

This story takes place in New Zealand, and I really enjoyed learning more about the country and how different it is than America and even the UK.

Slapshot by Jami Davenport (Tia and Bryce)

Slapshot by Jami Davenport is now live!

Available on All Platforms

ABOUT THE BOOK

BRYCE:
I'm the guy the entire team loves to hate. Not only am I one of the Sockeyes' best players, but I make sure everyone knows it. No woman has ever held my heart until I meet Tia. She's everything I am, gorgeous, rude, arrogant with a capital 'TUDE, and we're both concealing soul-shattering pain. Together we're fire and ice, a combo I can't resist and one that has me worried I've finally succumbed to the worst four-letter word in the English language--LOVE.

TIA:
After my mother's tragic death, I've lashed out and driven away everyone who ever cared about me. The pain is so great, I feel I don’t deserve friendship or love. Along comes Bryce. We're kindred spirits. He's as damaged as I am. Out of our grief, something special begins to sprout, but our tendency to destroy anything good in our lives threatens the best thing that's ever happened to us. Only Bryce refuses to give up while I'm finding old habits die hard. Barricading my heart is easier than taking the risk of being hurt again.

This was kind of a sad story with some great suspense and a bit of a Cinderella story starring hockey player Bryce and spoiled rich girl and horse woman, Tia who we have met in previous books. In this story we get her whole reason for why she acts so badly.

In this story Tia is our Cinderella and her father's mistress and now fiancรฉe is the evil stepmother to be with her evil son and they are after Tia's fathers' wealth, and they want to destroy Tia.

Bryce plays Prince Charming in this story and from his first scene with Tia you can feel the magic between these two. What starts up as a hook up ends up meaning a lot more to two very broken people who end up really needing each other.

This is not a light read but it is full of hot scenes, lots of drama, suspense and a horrible villain and a chance for Bryce to save the day. It was a really different story in this series, but it was intense and highly entertaining.

“Hi,” he said, low and gravelly.

I turned on him, making sure to narrow my eyes into slits, determined to gain my anger back after meeting the lovely Hazel, because I’d be damned if I let him get away with the silent treatment he’d been subjecting me to.

It wasn’t easy, especially not with the contrition swimming in those green eyes, but I held firm. “‘Hi’? Seriously? You’ve been ghosting me for three days and that’s how you’re going to start?”

He stepped in closer, his delicious smell making my head all fuzzy. “You look beautiful.”

Oh, he was good. Damn it! Stay strong, Asher! I silently scolded. I blew past the compliment like I hadn’t heard it, even while flutters erupted in my chest.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

This was an awesome story featuring Asher who we have met in other books in the series and it's her second chance romance, runaway bride romance with her exes best friend.

It has HOT scenes, is full of romance and has two adorable dogs that save the day. There is some angst and some drama and even some suspense. Plus, some new characters I really loved.

In this story we get to know Asher. She is a sweetheart, maybe a bit too sweet, kind and giving. She is also an awesome dancer and thats how she fits into this story as she is a dancer at the nightclub Whiskey Dolls. We meet her as she is pulling a runaway bride when her fiancรฉe runs away and crawls thru a bathroom at her wedding's venue.

And that's when she ends up running into her ex's best friend, Owen who she always thought hated her. Owen sees his chance and decides they need to become friends and he hopes this will get her to finally see him.

One of the biggest themes in this story is to not judge a book by its cover. Owen seems like this hot, tattooed guy who is a veterinarian but inside he is a huge nerd and doesn't really see that he is HOT and wonderful guy!

This was a really fun story and I really enjoyed watching Asher fall for her nerd and I adored the two dog heroes in this story. If you love runaway brides, second chances and falling in love then you will love Stunner!

ABOUT THE BOOK

"I want your sperm.”

Those were Shelby Grant’s first words to me. Didn’t even want me to buy her a drink first. See, Shelby isn’t like other women. After researching Denver’s most eligible bachelors in search of her ideal sperm donor, she chose me.

As a pro hockey player, I’m used to women wanting things from me, but my swimmers? That’s a new one. Somehow, though, with her color-coded parenting plan, sales pitch, and contract, Shelby sells me on the idea. After my donation, she doesn’t want anything more to do with me.

I can’t seem to stay away, though. As her belly grows and I get to know the tightly wound mom-to-be, I get attached.

Shelby’s jaded about men and I’m not looking to settle down. There are countless reasons why crossing the contractual line between us is a bad idea.

But once Shelby gives birth to our child, all bets are off. Whether I planned for it or not, I have a family now, and I’m not letting go without a fight.

In this story we meet a very shy, closed off woman who is the loneliest woman I have ever read about, Shelby. At the start of the book, she meets a new neighbor and they become friends. She realizes she doesn't have to be alone in the world and she comes up with a plan to become a new mom. But she is a lawyer who loves research, so she has to find her perfect baby daddy.

Thats how she meets the donor, and he is Beau, a hockey playboy with lots of friends and a wonderful family. And that's really all I can say about the plot without giving too much away.

This story has romance and even drama, but it also is a story about friendship and counting our blessings and love. From the love for a mother for her child to the love we feel for our friends and the good and bad of loving family. It's a woman who realized she wanted something, and she went out and made a plan and then found it for herself.

I LOVED Shelby so much and Marlow and Beau and his entire family. This was an absolutely wonderful story that made me laugh, giggle, cry and rejoice with Beau and Shelby.

Coen: A Pittsburgh Titans Novel #4 - By Sawyer Bennett

ABOUT THE BOOK

Read the first THREE chapters of Coen

Coen Highsmith was a league star, but he lost more than his team the day the Pittsburgh Titans’ plane crashed. Can he be sav ed from his downward spiral of guilt and regret to become the man he once was? I had it all — a successful hockey career, the respect and adoration of the fans, a rotation of beautiful women warming my bed, and a feeling of self - worth and contentment with the direction of my life.

But that all changed the day the team plane went down, taking my only chance of redemption with it. Now I’m left with the daily reminder of all my failures and my inability to correct them. My new teammates are tired of my
attitude and following my suspension, I hole up in a mountain cabin to get away from all of it.

The isolation is exactly what I need to get out of my own head, and I’m beginning to think I could be content in this quiet forever. Tillie Marshall isn’t the ty pe of woman who would usually catch my attention, yet she manages to do so for all the wrong reasons. I’m here for the peace and seclusion but the quirky artist is hell - bent on destroying that by cutting down the trees that separate our properties so she can open a pottery studio. If it’s a fight she wants, it’s a fight she’ll get.

I have the money and the time and no issues bringing her down through the court system. While I see flashes of steely determination within her, I’ve found that being a jerk comes naturally these days and she won’t be hard to intimidate. Unfortunately, that gorgeous and somewhat odd neighbor who has been causing me grief is creating another type of feeling within me. And once that spark is lit, Tillie displays a faith in me that for the first time since the crash I desperately want to believe. Now it’s time for me to step up and become the man — no, a better man than I once was.

This is book four in the series but it easily stands alone. This is a series about a hockey team that flies back from its game when the plane crashes with no survivors. There are only three teammates left who were not killed because they were ill or injured prior to the game and this story is about one of the so called "Lucky Three," Coen Highsmith.

As the story begins Coen has quit the team and run away to live in the woods at his buddy and teammate, Stones cabin. There he meets his neighbor, artist Tillie who wants to cut down some trees.

Largely Coen is a Beauty and the Beast story. Coen hates himself and he is miserable. Tillie wants to cut down some trees to build an art gallery but those trees to Coen represent his protection against the world.

But Tillie does not go quietly. She has a lot of fun torturing the guy and she brings Coen out of his shell and helps him find the beauty inside of him.

This is largely a story about forgiveness and learning to forgive yourself. It's also about friendship and acceptance that no matter who we are, we all make mistakes and that no one is perfect. Life is about living it and appreciating all the good we have in life.

This was an enemy to love romance and also about learning to forgive yourself. There are not many sports related activity in this story as Coen has quit as the story begins and it takes place during the summer in the off season. But it's a wonderful story about forgiveness, friendship and LOVE!

OFF SIDES by Ella Kade

ABOUT THE BOOK

I never thought I’d have to start over.

Let alone my senior year in college, but without my twin brother and my best friend, my life fell apart.

Now I was finally healthy and ready to meet my new team. That was until I saw who the assistant coach was. What was my ex, pro soccer playing boyfriend doing in Willow Springs? You know what? I didn’t care. He dropped me like yesterday’s garbage after he told me nothing would break us apart. Not even an ocean.

He was a liar.

When I took the job as assistant coach, I never thought I’d see Danica Francisco. I knew her brother lived here, but not her. Why wasn’t she three hours away?

I was finally getting my life back on track after what I thought was the worst time of my life. Except now, I was thinking taking this job was the worst decision I’d ever made with the exception to cut Danica out of my life.

Too bad she looks like she wanted to kill me and put my body through a wood chipper every time she looked at me.

How was I going to survive being so close to her and yet being so far away?

This is book 4 in the series but its my first book from this author and in this series. I found it easily to follow along and I never felt lost while reading this story.

This is a second chance at love with her ex-Declan who Danica hates because he dumped her in a very cold way. He is her new coach and so she cannot avoid it. It also takes place at a college and primarily in the world of college soccer.

This was a fairly light read even though it deals with sports injuries, eating disorders and a secret romance with an authority figure who hurt you in the past.  But it also deals with love, trust, faith, hope and friendship.

I really enjoyed this story and found it intense but also very romantic. At times I found Dani a bit immature, but she also was a character in transition and growing and changing and wanting to beat her insecurities. I loved how much her friends, brothers and Declan loved her and how much she loved them.

This was a story that I was really excited to read but OMG it was a really tough book to read. There were times my heart hurt for Sylvie and Spencer and at times it was hard to read this romance.

Sylvie is a character that I have met in other books and at times she was a mean girl and a bully but at other times she was more sympathetic. As the author has written other books for her family, we have seen that she had a hard life, and she made some really tough decisions. In this story the author delves into her mind, and we see the decisions she made and why she made them.

What I really liked about this book was that we don't just get the bad and the why but we also get to watch Sylvie become this really strong character who had a messed up childhood and mother and even marriage but who found her own strength within herself and came out the other side as a strong woman who can be proud of herself and her accomplishments.

One aspect of Spencer that I really liked was that while he could hate Sylvie he also could love her as well. He realized that he was not perfect either and that who are families are shapes us but it also allows for forgiveness and moving on and pushing forward. I loved that he was always there for Sylvie no matter what.
