THE SETTING
This is the first book in a new series that takes place in a very small town on the border by Nevada and California, called Honey Mountain.
THE MAJOR CHARACTERS
The first book centers on Vivienne/Viv/Vivi who is also nicknamed Honey Bee by her best friend from childhood, Niko. She runs a bakery in her small town and has three younger sisters, Charlotte (twin and schoolteacher), Dylan (twin and in Law School) and Ashlan (the baby and still in college) and one older, Everly (professional sports psychologist).
In town one of the biggest employers is the Fire department and it is run by Vivi's dad and Niko is a firefighter too. Niko has a sister Jada (age 19) and a niece, Mabel (age 4). Yes, she got pregnant at 15.
ALWAYS MINE
Niko is very much the bad boy in this story to Viv's good girl. He is a firefighter that works with her father. Viv is a bakers and runs her own bakery. They both live in the small town but he comes from an abusive home and she comes from a very loving family. So its a very opposite attracts but best friends forever to lovers romance.
At times I felt Niko was a bit of a coward. He took the easy way out by saying he was bad for Vivi and instead of doing a real relationship. But what I really respected throughout the story was how much he loves Viv and she him. They are each others other half and the love they feel for each other jumps off the pages.
I LOVED Vivi so much. She is one tough cookie and she had no problem telling Niko what she wanted and needed. She was really awesome. And when she told Jada, Niko's sister off I was cheering for her. I also really enjoyed watching Jada mature in this story and become a better sister, mom and friend throughout the story.
This story got very drama filled and intense as Niko and the town deals with his father being released from jail and the impact that takes on Niko, Jada, their mom and Viv. There is also a suspense aspect to this story as we wait to see what Niko's father ends up doing.
This story had some triggers for some people: child abuse (Niko), statutory rape (since Niko's sister, Jada got pregnant at age 15), drunk driving (Niko's father) and Cancer (years before when Viv's mom died).
While I enjoyed the story and found the book very romantic, I would have wished for a bit more humor in the story. This book made me laugh and cry as the story dealt with some very serious subjects and had some great suspense.
If you are looking for a light and fun read, that is not this book. But it was a really great story about friendship, family, soulmates, forever and loss. It has some great drama and suspense and I adored the ending so much.

I cannot wait for the next book with Everly and her ex Hawk. We get hints to the next book in the series throughout this story and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
