Second True Love by Vikki Jay is now live!
At an age of twenty-five, I was finally ready to explore the world.
I was free. Out of my mother's grip. Out of Cherrywood.
I never expected my new world would revolve around a grumpy forty-year old single-dad.
I was supposed to be a short term tenant in Keith's loft.
I wasn't supposed to roam in his house, asking him to make me cinnamon latte, and become friends with his daughter.
And most of all, I wasn't supposed to fall in love with Keith Adams.
But if there's one thing I know how to do, it's break the rules.
Keith wants nothing to do with me. He's still mourning the wife he lost years ago, and the ice around his heart is thick. He claims he doesn't want love, and definitely not from a girl fifteen years younger than him. He says I need to figure out my life on my own.
But I'm gonna show him I can be what he needs. Even if he doesn't know yet.
I can be his second true love.

Meet Vikki Jay
In those early morning hours when I'm alone, my imaginations run wild and I pen down the life of people living in my head. All my life, I have lived in small towns in different parts of the world. The friendships, the camaraderie that people share around me inspired me to create Cherrywood and St. Peppers, the two towns where all my stories take place.
I write about beautiful coincidences, finding love in unexpected places and times, and fighting hard to get that happily ever after.
I reject to read, see, write anything that does not promise a HEA. My characters are sexy yet shy, strong yet reserved...
I am married to a man whom I fell in love at an age of 15, proposed him at an age of 23 and married at an age of 30. He has no clue what I write or do when he is snoring quietly in the next room.

This was a story about a young naive and former rich girl, Clementine, trying to find her way with a new fashion job and no money. Clem is 25 and she ends up as a roomie for 40 year old Keith and his 14 year old daughter, Mere.
I knew Clementine from the previous two part book the author wrote and so I was excited to read it. But it was so different that at times I was confused.
First, Vannessa Hilbert is the woman that Clem ends up getting a job with. If you read Loving Rose then you know her from that book and she is awful in that book. She is not an easy character in this story but she is not as bad as in that book. In this book Zach is mentioned but in Loving Rose he has no wife and in this book he is married to a woman named Hope who runs a bakery and she is seen many times in this book. I was very confused about the timeline of things because of Zach and Hope.
Keith's story was a bit strange to me too. He is 40, a widower since his daughter was 3 years old. So its been 11 years. But he acts like his wife is alive. When he kisses Clem he feels like he cheated on her. He has a photo next to his bed with his dead wifes image. He still has her things and he dusts it so it looks like just how she left things. Even his daughter is ready for him to move on and its a source of friction and in fact she comments on how they live with a ghost.
And then there is a big plot twist in relation to Clem and the wife, its a spoiler so I can't say much about it, but it got a bit much for me. The whole thing was a bit too much for me.
So what did I love about this book. Well I loved how Vanessa gave Clem a shot even though she had NO experience at all. I also loved that Clem was a fighter and she fought for her chance to do something with her life, even if she had no clue how normal life worked. I also loved how Keith helps her out from teaching her to cook to doing laundry. And if she needs help, he is there for her.
But my favorite part of this story was Clem and Mere's friendship and love for each other, even as Keith tries to keep them apart. I also loved when Clem saves Mere and how they end up finding her.
There is a suspenseful part to this story and I absolutely adored Clem and how strong she ends up being. Mere and her have this awesome friendship and relationship and its why I kept reading the story because I adored these two together.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
