This is the start of a brand new series by the author starring the Carmichael family. They are related to Paige Carmichael who we meet in Sweet part of the Landry series, which takes place in Savannah. This series stars her brothers and parents and takes place in Kismet Beach, Florida.
In this story we meet Brooke who works at Laguna Homes and is a lead designer on one of the renovation teams for the Carmichael's who build homes and she is part of a team with Moss Carmichael who is her teams superintendent.
The Carmichael sons starting with the eldest are:
- Foxx (no idea what he does)
- Moss (works at Laguna Homes)
- Jess (works at Laguna Homes)
- Maddox (works at Laguna Homes)
- Banks (renovates cars and is wildest)
Brooke is 30, divorced and was married 7 years and has now been working her job for two years. She is very close to Moss and they are best friends who are also work partners. They both have no interest in dating each other, until Brooke needs a fake date for her grandmothers party in her hometown.
Moss, no age was mentioned but he is the second eldest Carmichael kid. He is single and has only had a high school relationship, beyond that he dates but never gets too involved. He does get jealous when his brothers flirt with Brooke but she is his close friend and work partner. That is until she needs a fake date. Lets say that is when things start to get complicated.
This is a slow burn romance with two people who work together and are very close friends. The Carmichael's are a really fun family and I loved the parents a lot. They really added to this story.
The Carmichael's reminded me a lot of the Gibson Boys series in how the family is connected and how they live close to each other, and the way they have fun with each other and the hijinks and shenanigans they do to each other.
This was a slow burn story about moving on and finding love and being able to share your feelings and opening your heart and trusting in a future with your special person. It is also about family and knowing when to cut out toxic people but also that the ones that treat you well are the ones to hold onto.
