This is book 2 in the series but easily stands alone. It is a second chance romance between Ansley and Garrett Tuttle. They were high school sweethearts until something happened that made Garrett abandon her after high school and take off for Nashville and fame, ALONE. They have not seen each other until he disappeared on her until he is forced to come home and lay low while some very negative things are being said about him in the media.
In the intervening years Ansley has done really well for herself and she is close to opening her dream, a coffee house and bookstore in her small town when guess who shows up?
I liked that Ansley doesn't just forgive right away. She makes Garrett work for her forgiveness. I also liked that his family calls him out on his bad behavior. I felt there was a bit much of the g-d this and that but it was also understandable as Ansley's father is the town preacher.
The reason for the breakup well I found not good enough for a ten year break up. Honestly I would have understood 5 years but ten was a bit much. I don't feel that Garrett had a good reason for what he did and for that long of a gap. In addition while Garrett was doing what he was doing she seemed like she was just working hard and no other relationships. I am not a fan of that in romance novels.
I loved hanging out with the Tuttle family. I cannot wait to see which one gets his story told in the next book.
If you love second chance romances and hot country singers and stories featuring a quirky small town and family and friendship then you will adore this book. I loved getting to know Ansley, Garrett and their friends, town and family.
