This is the last book in the series and its not my favorite well because my favorite is Warner but its a very close runner up as my favorite.
Offside is a stand alone story but is much better if you read the entire series in order. This story is a second chance for Kane and Jana and its a romance between a boss and the coach in a role reversal as Jana is the boss and Kane is the coach. Its also a romance with a former fling.
If you have been reading this series you know that Jana's father owned the team and he has decided to retire and offered Kane the opportunity to coach the team if he retires as a player. And as he is retiring he has given the team to Jana and she is the new team owner. As a team owner, Jana cannot be flinging with Kane any longer and so the two are no longer together in this story.
Jana and Kane were a big surprise in this book. I did not always understand their motivation for some of the views they took in this book but I did end up loving them together.
Jana does not want marriage, kids or a relationship. She was very happy flinging with Kane. But Kane has always seen how awesome Jana is and wanted something more. While he has no desire for kids he does want marriage and a relationship.
This is very much a war between Kane and Jana. He wants more and she wants less and then there are issues because she is now his boss and he is her new coach. It makes their fling something that cannot continue but it also causes a lot of strife in their work relationship and creating a stable team as they make a run for the Cup.
Can they win it? Will Jana fall for Kane and give him his real shot with her? Will Kane wear Jana down and convince her that he is relationship material? And will Jana's dad let her run the team her way? Well you will have to read this story to find out. It was a lot of fun and an awesome way to end the series.
