Ben is a recurring characters from the Greene's Alaska Series by the authors. He had a huge crush on Clara and was in My Scorned Best Friend as Xander Greene’s teammate. In this book he is retired and is coming home, not forever but until he figures out what his next career and job op he wants. 

In going home he will see his ex, Gilly who he heard has a 14/15-year-old son named Clayton. When they went their separate ways, he made a big mistake and in all the years he has never seen her until he comes home and there is a parade and well, he can't seem to not see her or memories of the past.

While Ben has not seen Gilly in the intervening years, his family has, and they are close to her and Clay. This series focuses on Ben's family and his brothers Jude and Emmett. They all live at the Plain Daisy Ranch and in the small town of Willowbrook. 

This story has some angst and also some drama, we even get a glimpse of Gilly's baby daddy. I also loved that while Ben chased his dreams so did Gilly and she plans to go after her dreams. Both her and Ben are both at a crossroads in this story and have to decide if they want a second chance and what that will look like.  

I really enjoyed this book, and I am really excited to see who is in the next book and read their story.
