Every Time I Fall by Lexi Ryan

New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan brings you Every Time I Fall, a sexy standalone romance about a woman learning to love herself and the guy who's loved her all along.

ABOUT THE BOOK

He's my brother's best friend.

The hot guy with the heart of gold I've never let myself want.

Guys like Dean don't go for girls like me.

Curvy. Thick. A big girl. Whatever label you put on it, I know who I am and what it means. And that's fine. I'm content to be Dean's buddy and nothing more.

Or so I thought. When Dean finds out about my bedroom issues and decides to help me fix them, everything changes.
He swears there's no such thing as "bad in bed" and pleasure is all about chemistry. I'm not convinced, but he intends to prove it. With his mouth. With his body. With his dirty texts and whispered promises.

I know from the first kiss that I'm going to fall hard. That this can't last, and the end might break me. But, for these days with Dean, all the hurt might be worth it.

This is book 3 in the series and features Dean and Abbi. This story can stand alone (maybe) but its part of series and I think you might be lost if you don't read the previous book, Every Sweet Regret,  in the series as this book sort of picks up from there and things mentioned here happen in there.

This book also is a love triangle which is not my favorite type of romance to read. Honestly I HATE love triangles so I didn't expect that with this story. I had hoped Amy was out of the picture by the time  this story started but she was NOT and so I found that disapointing.  If you love- love triangles well then you might enjoy that aspect of this story but I hated Amy in  Every Sweet Regret and well she is even worse here.

This story is about Cade's little sister, Abbi and his best friend, Dean. In the previous book it was discovered that Dean was involved with Cade's ex, Amy and he claimed to love her. Amy cheated on Cade many times in their marriage and they share a daughter but Amy dates a lot even while she was shall we say involved with Dean. While Dean claimed to love her, she claimed he was too much of a player to be a guy she dates.

In this book we also get to know Abbi, Cade's sister who has always crushed and loved Dean. They are besties as well but he breaks her heart over his obsession with Amy. Yes, he gets together several times with Amy. I will say at least he dumps her and tries to distance himself from Amy by chapter 5.

Abbi is very bad with men. She feels like she is healthy but not model skinny like Amy and the girls Dean is with. This guy she likes is moving to town and she feels she is bad with guys so she asks Dean to help her get better so she won't mess things up with this other guy.

I started to LOVE this story after chapter 5. Dean and Abbi were adorable together and hot and sexy. I loved that they were such great friends and they really got each other. While Abbi feels that her body shape is an issue, Dean feels how he grew up with a non existent dad who cheated on his mom was something he felt ashamed off. Its very much a story that shows how we all have something that gives us confidence issues. It was a powerful message and it really made me enjoy this part of the story.

While I enjoyed the message of this story at times I wanted to punch Dean. Even after he tells Amy he is done with her. She calls and he comes running. She texts him and he doesn't say go away. And she tries to get him to spend time with her, he doesn't express how not interested he is. And so I felt he was playing games with Abbi and keeping Amy on this string.

Honestly I am not sure what I thought about this story. I absolutely adore this Orchid Valley series. I have read all of them. The first was really awesome and I even liked the second book even with the Dean and Amy drama. But I hated Amy even before I started this story, so seeing her in this love triangle and such a big part of this story was not something I enjoyed in this story. That said I loved Abbi and Dean together and when the story focused on them I absolutely loved watching them fall for each other and spend time with each other. My issue was that Dean annoyed me as he jumped to help Amy out. But at least those were short scenes and as a whole Abbi seemed to understand it and trust Dean.
