I am a huge fan of this author. I have pretty much read all her stand alone stories and I really adore her writing and the characters, This is book 1 in a series of two books but each book can stand alone. In this story we meet Kade, who is a movie star with a playboy rep and Lin who lives in a small town/island on the North Carolina shore, Hummingbird Island and runs an inn called Sunrise Inn with her bestfriend, Brynn who lives next door at the Sunset Inn. 

Sunrise is Kade and Lin's story and Sunset is Brynn and Jasper's story. I adored  this story a lot and I cannot wait for the second book because it looks really awesome as a second chance at romance.

In this story Kade is playboy movie star who needs a break from the press and so his agent arranges for him to stay at Sunrise Inn as their only guest. He meets Lin and sees that she is different from the start. They form a friendship and this is a slow burn type of story and I really enjoyed getting to know the island and watch as Kade and Lin fall for each other but also discover the magic of Hummingbird Island.

There is a side story about the mayor wanting to change the islands main street and Lin and Brynn try and stop him. This is a plot point that will continue in Sunset. 

We also meet Jasper in this story. He has a love/hate thing with Brynn and he ends up working at the Inn as a chef as he helps Brynn when the Inn loses its chef. All three of them, Jasper, Brynn and Lin grew up together and were best friends until things went bad for Brynn and Jasper and they broke up, Now he is back in town to help his mom after his father passes away. 

This was a really laid back type of romance and more of friends to lovers type of story in a very small town. Its the perfect story to read by the pool or at the beach. Its centered on family and love and friendship and appreciating what you have and being there for each other.
