Asher and Mara meet at a conference for journalists and lets say they do not hit it off. That is until after the conference when they match wits and Asher is entranced.

These two then meet for the second time when Asher finds out that Mara lives and works in Kansas City, the location of his new office building and she works at the newspaper across the street and the one he hopes to either buy or put out of business.

Mara is the top reporter and she loves the paper more than anything and so she plans to save the newspaper from the evil Asher and his companies clutches.

This was a very fun story. Its not a story about people who work together but rather are rivals. She wants to save the newspaper and he wants it to go under. There is a lot of passion and heated discussions in the early part of the book. But I would not say they hate each other. Rather they love dueling with words and flirting with each other.
